When I first looked at GN, I was struck by how nasty some people were. I went away and came back recently to see if things have improved. It seems not, judging by the downright nasty comments on this thread, and others. There are clearly some lovely people who use this site but sadly, they are overshadowed by the thread-hoggers - you know who you are - who feel driven to post, and pass judgement on everything. As an outsider it also seems to me that there is a strong clique of people here who are not at all welcoming to others.
Shame, it seemed to be such a good idea.

Perhaps some people are nasty; perhaps there are some threadhoggers, but overall I would say Gransnetters are a fairly civilized bunch. It takes all sorts, including the judgmental ones who make sweeping statements about us.

I have ended up making a report today. It is all getting a bit much.
I dont have a problem taking it at all, but there comes a point, where the people doing it need to know that enough is enough, and actions have consequences, and they need to be brought to account.

Sometimes I just don't bother as the posts are so opinionated and you just know that whatever you say will be completely ignored

However, unlike Casawan I think the majority of GNs are supportive, reasonable people and I can quite easily ignore the posts of those who are not
