I loved Scott's Emulsion (yes I was a strange child!). I've heard of Steedman's Teething Powders, but not EE powders.

Children playing whip and top, with patterns chalked on top of the top. I used to take the leather thong off my whip and replace it with string, worked much better.-- We had a whip and top season, a skipping season, marbles season and hopscotch season.

Apologies if this has been mentioned, but I remember my stepfather having all his own equipment for mending shoes, once a month our kitchen became a cobbler`s shop, with brand new leather being cut out and hammered onto shoe soles.
