Lucky enough to be on Rhodes at the moment. Lovely & hot so everyone sun worshipping but WHY do so many older ladies still go topless on beach & round the pool. I am no prude & always went topless myself until gravity took over & then I invested in some lovely bikinis & later tankinis. I'm sitting here & in my immediate area there are 5 very elderly women - 70 plus ( all British)with their boobs on their stomachs. To be honest they look awful & I had to smile yesterday when I noticed a woman with 2 long white panels on her tummy caused by the shadow her boobs had made. They would look great with a nice tankini which you can pull up to get your tummy tanned. I don't I understand it. It's up to them of course & I'd defend any woman's right to wear what she wants but really they look awful. Maybe I've had too much sun!

If I did that Id be more worried about a melanoma developing on skin that hadnt been exposed to the sun often....that happened to a friend of mine in her 50s.
Fortunately it responded well to treatment.
But maybe those ladies had aĺways
done it ?

Christingle Sun 17-Jul-16 18:55:52

I don't see why they shouldn't do this. If they are confident enough to go topless good on them. If people don't like it don't look. Ageism at its worst to object, as bad as saying everyone should be while, stick thin and beautifull.

I don't really have a problem with it if it's what they want to do but personally I've never even worn a bikini (except when I was 15) due to a large unsightly scar. Our first foreign holiday wasn't until we were in our early 30's in Gran Caneria. We were enjoying a walk on the beach when we suddenly realised everyone was naked and we'd strayed onto the nudist area - we definitely had to watch where we were walking as there were some very well endowed you men sunning themselves!! grin Nowadays I am even reluctant to expose my horribly flabby, crinkly arms but I've been to the seaside today and it's been so hot I had to get them out lol

Blimey, just joined, though it might be boring, but what do I find, a load of grannies with their tits out. Looks promising.

Any other good areas to visit

'Live and let live' is all very well but one woman's freedom to push her crepey boobs into my line of sight takes away my freedom not to see them! Of course I can look away but I've already had my eyes assaulted by that time. Keep 'em covered up!

GandTea Sun 17-Jul-16 20:28:41

LOL, I can never think of a time I have been assaulted by boobs, just don't know where to look, well I do know, but I don't want to be caught looking smile.

TriciaF Sun 17-Jul-16 21:06:26

It's always puzzled me, this fascination of men with boobs.
Is it just curiosity because they haven't got them? Or a subconscious desire to suckle again? wink.

GandTea Sun 17-Jul-16 21:16:59

It puzzles me, so I shall continue my investigations grin

GrandmaMia1 Sun 17-Jul-16 21:20:14

Perhaps they have grown to a maturity where they don't care what other people think. If you don't like it, don't look.

grands Sun 17-Jul-16 21:20:41

Personally I was brought up to Respect my modesty and also others. Though I must admit for someone who has been comfortable being in company of strangers and possibly family etc whilst topless :- your comments and attitude seem extremely judgemental and negative.

Maybe some people who are comfortable to be in company whilst topless are not there in that situation expecting anyone to judge their physique. They are simply comfortable with their own bodies. Which maybe they should be, as it is only part of them.

TriciaF Sun 17-Jul-16 21:21:40

Let us know if you find the answer. grin

GandTea Sun 17-Jul-16 21:24:29

Don't hold your breath, my investigations could take quite a while.

Agree with your comment. As why would a woman be looking at an intimate area of another woman's body, and being judgemental in sharing her views on that aspect.

I am not perfect, but certainly have other priorities in my life. Not interested in seeing other women's boobs. Whether they are on display or not.

Does seem ageist, thanks for your comment. As some Cultures value age. They are Delighted that the person has reached a good age, Respect the individual for their experience/s, Wisdom etc. Maybe We should Celebrate Age, Value it for its benefits to the individual/s and Community etc. People are living longer i.e. Average Life span has increased, an achievement due to Better Health Care, etx, etc.

Quality of Life is Important irrespective of Age. So I wish the British Culture could Value and Respect our Older relatives and citizens etc.

embo32 Sun 17-Jul-16 21:53:35

Good for them!

Christingle Sun 17-Jul-16 22:21:57

I agree that it is rather sad that we in the UK can't value more those of a certain age. I love the cultures that do this, the ones who care for elderly family and respect and hold them in high esteem. I feel in the UK once past around 60 you are often treated with amusement and sometimes contempt. Embrace getting older, and still do what you want! I do!

grumppa Sun 17-Jul-16 22:23:34

"This fascination of men with boobs." Good question. According to Doug and Pete visiting a picture gallery they are one of the "erroneous zones", so maybe it is just a fact of life.

And as Keats said: "a thing of beauty is a joy for ever." So two things of beauty are double the joy.

rubylady Mon 18-Jul-16 01:01:33

Marmark1 grin I love the fact that you say you need a bucket thinking of me naked, wow, it shows you up more for who you are than it does me. You haven't seen me, don't know me, and yet you comment like that? You make me laugh. grin grin

rubylady Mon 18-Jul-16 01:25:32

Marmark1 Btw, are you a man or a woman, I can't tell with your name? confused

hermione89 Mon 18-Jul-16 06:22:04

Craftycat I'm 71, certainly do not consider myself very old but I do agree about older woman going topless, in fact I don't understand how any woman needs to go topless at any age, boobs are for feeding babies, not for showing to all and sundry.

granjura Mon 18-Jul-16 08:07:49

Agreed Christingle- but on the other hand, it seems that the cultures and countries that really look after their old people really well- are those where 'modesty' prevails. I've never seen an Italian or Spanish granny, let alone a Morroccan or Tunisian one, out on a public beach topless.

marionk Mon 18-Jul-16 08:09:16

Just don't look! How lovely to be liberated enough to ditch the Lycra. If I was a sun worshipper I would

granjura Mon 18-Jul-16 08:11:48

hermione89- for most it is not about 'showing to all and sundry' at all- but the enjoyment of being free and feeling the sun on your skin - I totally get that. All I am saying is best not in public- but yes, live and let live. Although I do have a friend, divorced 3 times, who loves to show her perfect figure and plastic boobs to all and sundry- and for whom the 'show' is very important. She does look great.

GandTea Mon 18-Jul-16 09:22:31

Grummpa/TriciaF "This fascination of men with boobs."

Is this a fascinating of men that have boobs
or
The fascination of boobs to men

Just asking.

Zena510 Mon 18-Jul-16 09:22:54

Brave !
Also agree with the comment of freedom and it also shows how as we get older we care less what people think !
Would I - no. Have I - yes - years ago ?
