Oldest granddaughter (she's now 8) when aged 3 and desperate to have a sleepover at our house, threw a real tantrum and her mummy told her that if she was naughty like that, Granddad and Grandma wouldn't want her to stay. With hands on hips she said "Well, I'm not going to be naughty at THEIR house, am I?"

A couple of years later she informed me and Granddad that we were old and were going to die. Then she looked us up and down and said "But I don't think it's going to be soon" (for which we were very grateful!)

Her little sister and I were discussing names and I told her my first name - she thought about it for a moment, shook her head and said "No, Grandma, your name is Grandma". End of discussion and collapse of stout party!

DD2 (3) was fascinated by waterskiing while on holiday in the Lake District and shouted 'Look mummy, a man on sticks pushing a boat with a rope!'

I went to see my little grandsons today and my daughter told me a tale about DGS1 who is three and a bit.

His Dad often takes him to soft play and runs about "chasing" him etc last time they went SIL was not feeling too well and was just watching him and not playing.

DGS then told his Daddy that "There is a notice that said grown ups have to play with their children at soft play".

He can't actually read and just made this up in the hope his Daddy might believe him. Full marks for creative thinking, none for truthfulness.

He is a bright little chap.

Pity this thread has no "like" button.

I decided that I disliked cute terms for various bodily parts but was a bit put out when my six year old, in clear piping tones announced on the top deck of a crowded bus that her "cl------" was a bit itchy.

She is now 29 and expecting her first baby. I hope we can come up with some code which suits us all !

At the moment, I can't go into the bathroom without DGD (just turned three) calling through the door, "Grandma, are you having a wee or are you having a poo as well?"
That's bad enough when we are at home, but she piped up with exactly the same question when I took her into some public toilets with me!

I will be quite pleased when this phase passes.

A quick squirt with a very expensive perfume my husband had bought me, before going to lunch at my son's. My 2 yr. old granddaughter sitting beside me said" Grandma smells"

GD4 must have been looking at my face while she was lying on the settee with her feet on my lap. "Grandma, do I have any cracks on my face, like you?"

My DGD, aged 6 at the time, has 2 little sisters who are a nuisance to her at times! She solemnly announced to me one day that when Mummy and Daddy get very old and die, then she will be in charge of her little sisters and will send them to bed very, very early!

My DGD, 4 last week, had mislaid her "lipstick", actually a little girls' play lip salve that she applies liberally to and around her lips. She was really upset, and told me it was an "absolute nightmare". Well a girl really needs her lippie, doesn't she?!

My 3 yr old DGS was taking ages on the loo. I was getting a bit tired just standing there, but when asked whether he'd finished he told me that he was just relaxing !

DS was very tired one day recently, after a late shift and very little sleep. DGS (age 4) wanted to know why he was lying on the sofa, so DS explained, then said, "I'm lazy, aren't I!". DGS's immediate response was "No - that's Grandad!".

Hmm - I've thought for a long time that DH spends far too much lounging around on the sofa, and now I know that I'm not the only one who's noticed.

Last week my 4 year old DGD told me that I was her very best Nana. "Oh thank you. That's very nice of you," said I, "But why do you think that?"

"Because you're not dead!" was her reply!

(By the way she has two other living Nanas)

I looked after my 3 year old DGD today - we made some fairy cakes, and as we had just finished icing them our postman arrived and I asked DGD if she would like to give him one of them. She leapt off enthusiastically and gave him a cake, but returned to the kitchen looking a bit gloomy. "That was my cake I gave him" says she. "No" says I "there are lots here for you." "No - that was mine - I licked it!"

My dgs was at my house and suddenly stripped off his trousers and pants, when asked why, he said 'My bottom's ouchy' !!!

Our friend was in the card shop with her little boy (five year old) and she sent him to the Mothers Day section to buy her card. He came back with a slightly worried look on his face and said, "I've got enough for the card Mummy, but how much is the envelope?". Bless.

I was out for a walk today with DD and three yr old DGS1. I realised my shoelace was undone and rested my foot up on the low wall of a garden so I could reach it better.
DGS said "You should not do that Nanan that's not your wall to climb on."
He may have a point but I was not intending to climb it. That was me told.
