Today my 4year old dgd told Gary the gardner ' when I'm really very old like Graggy, I'm going to shoot with a bow and arrows as well!'
Also to me, handing me my iPad when she was halfway through a game to do something her mother wanted her to do ' don't switch it of! If you do I shall be VERY CROSS!'
I'm quaking in my shoes!

Aren't they great!? smile

My little grandson is only 18 months old, but he "backchats" his grandad complete with finger in the air, in baby talk, e.g. when told not to touch the buttons on the TV. What makes us laugh, is that no one ever talks back to my husband when he is being firm grin (excepting me of course!)

On a very cold day recently I pulled on my new faux fur hat and GS (6) said ,'Wow, gran, that looks great'. Flattered, I asked if he meant my hat.
But apparently what he really liked was the way my hair (longish bob) stuck out from the hat 'cos you look like a woolly mammoth with tusks!'

GS then 7 watched the birthing of a lamb, he then asked how lizards were born. Then he asked if "rocks had babies because he saw a big rock with five little rocks. Were they the mother and her baby rocks?" grin

This year we were visiting GS's aunt and I told him her cat Slinky was his cat's mother. He thought for a minute and said "Grandma, does Slinky have a husband?"

My 4 year old GS told me recently and very knowingly "Gran, you know wedgies? Well you can get potato wedgies too now." I was speechless trying not to laugh. What a lot a little boy has to worry about. Grandad reassured him and explained the difference (once he'd stopped laughing)

We took our granddaughters to the cinema to see " Tinkerbell and the Pirate Fairy" ( Hmmmmm) In a very quiet moment , my eldest granddaughter said, in a very loud voice " Grampa, do you know you are the only old man in here? "

Titters all round

I love the things they say .

We took DGS3 swimming this week, he's 4.

After coming up spluttering I said 'Oh no , did you swallow pool water'?

'Yes he replied.

'Was your mouth open 'I asked?

'No it got in through some other leak ' he replied.

I nearly drowned laughing.

Loving this thread! I can't wait until I can add to it......GS is only 11 months so might be a while!

I'm going to try and write down all the funny things he says, I really regret not doing this for DDs, as can't remember most of them now hmm

Twin 5 year old grandaughters.
Grandagord, are you the oldest man in the world?

I was putting Bio oil on an operation scar on my wrist. GD, then aged 3, asked what I was doing and when I explained, she frowned and stated: 'But oil is for cooking.'

When I met my grandson (8) from school one day this week, we walked down the road talking about the lesson he had just had on earthquakes. He was obviously concerned as he kept pointing out cracks in the tarmac! Finally he asked me "Nana are earthquakes really rare round here?" "Yes" I said "In my whole life, I've only ever experienced one and it woke me up, then I went straight back to sleep" "Oh" he said, looking relieved "and you are really, really old, aren't you?" I suddenly felt about 84 instead of 64!

shestheone if you have an iPhone there's an app called Little Hoots where you can record all their funny sayings and print them
Out or just save them . It's very good .

My four year granddaughter asked for two cream crackers. I buttered them but she said she didn't like butter. I then said I would get her two more without butter. She said "it's ok granny, just lick the butter off and i'll eat them". Needless to say, I didn't!

Shestheone Sun 21-Feb-16 09:31:45

nanaandgrampy that's brilliant - thank you! Will pass that on to his parents, too smile

My god was worried about flying for the first time, so I encouraged her to talk to me about her fears. What was her her fear....what happens Nan when we are flying and we meet a bunch of angels?

Jack had been promised a Happy Meal if he behaved. He started to get a bit silly, and my daughter reminded him "Do you think naughty boys will get a Happy Meal?" We could see Jack thinking carefully before he replied in all seriousness "No mummy, they'll get a sad meal!"

I sent DGS, aged 9, a Valentine card.
When it arrived, he apparently rolled his eyes and said, oh no, I hope it's from no-one at school!'

I had breast cancer a coup,e of years ago, lost all my hair, but got a good wig. My concern was that I didn't want DGSs to be frightened of me.
It was Christmas and I was midway through chemotherapy. I was having a really bad hot flush, my DD said ' take your wig off mum, the boys know you have no hair'. After a while I decided to take it off. Eldest GS just glanced at me and ignored it, but youngest looked at my, full of awe, and said ' Grandma, how did you do that!'. After all my worry he was so impressed I went up in status!
What wasn't so good was when he would randomly ask me to take it off in front of people to impress them!

DGS2 is really funny and often makes me laugh. He's 3. Last week I somehow managed to get stuck in the lift at the library with him and his 6 year old brother. I tried everything then had to press the alarm. A quiet voice behind me said "there's no going back now! " Made me laugh instead of panicking! (Apparently the Ninja Turtles say it)

Greyduster Sun 21-Feb-16 11:02:36

A few years ago, when GS had just started school and was picking up vocabulary at a rate of knots, we were getting into the car and I asked him not to make a noise as my neighbour, a nurse, had been working all night and was sleeping. "Oh," he said "is she nocturnal then?"

milkflake Sun 21-Feb-16 11:19:14

Oh was talking to our Son and GS age 7 , on Skype and called me in to say hello as they were about to go out. I had just come out of the shower and was all wrapped up in a big bath sheet.
When I said sorry I wasn't dressed ,a little voice from the computer said "Grandma that's inappropriate "

Gaggi3 Sun 21-Feb-16 11:54:30

DGS to me "I suppose you and Granny Devon are the same age as Gug". Gug was his great grandmother who was pushing 100 then.

Chocolatechomp Sun 21-Feb-16 12:00:32

My husband was wearing a pink t shirt ( a colour he never usually wears) and my 3 year old granddaughter said " Granddad are you wearing that t shirt to make us laugh". Not stopped chuckling about it.
