soop I feel I owe you a lunch so if you (and your secateurs) would care to come over one day.....
I spent 20 mins with the leaf vacuum under the beech hedge and then couldn't move my fingers or arm for an hour. Think I will have to build up to this. Have now managed to do the ironing but there wasn't very much.
We are trying to persuade our youngest dog to go in the large crate we have, as he doesn't have a place of his own. There are plenty of baskets he could use but he has never been interested. So today I have padded it out underneath so it doesn't creak, covered it with a blanket to make it cave like and put some treats in. I don't think he will like it though. He likes to sleep on our expensive rug but I don't know what he does at nights - seems to read the magazines on the coffee table as they are always crooked!

Soop's kitchen extension
(1001 Posts)A bit cheeky of me to start this, but hope it is allowed!
Good morning Kitcheners!
DH seems to be perking up (typical!) which is good and is planning on getting up properly, shower and dressed.
Now I can moan that I have nonetheless cancelled a day trip I was booked on tomorrow to the Arts and Crafts museum in Chipping Campden and then to Rodmarton Manor with my art history class. Can't leave him for a long day without any means of getting back at short notice, heigh Ho, c'est la vie!
Tizliz I am assuming that the youngest dog is not allowed in a bedroom and therefore on a bed. An expensive rug is preferable to a crate, no matter how much you tart it up for him.
Tara was crying and moaning this am and when I came downstairs she was attempting to get drinking water from the basin in the kitchen. I had left one item soaking overnight. I apologised to her for not refreshing her water bowl, went to said bowl to discover it half full. It is an old casserole dish so holds a lot.
"soop" you are doing far too much. I am amazed that Rory was sitting beside you because there was a lot of activity and he would be disturbed. At least you are sort of resting, watching the rugby and probably yelling at the TV.
I feel sad for Scotland. A win was not to be. I'm still a great fan of all the boys...Greig Laidlaw in particular.
Tizliz Nice try. I'm knackered at the mo'. Your dog sounds like a plucky character. I've a few nasty thorn scratches and am about to dab TCP on them. Sadly no drinkie poos for a further five days. Bah! Humbug!
Charleyg There are times when Rory takes it into his head to attempt to leap on to shelves! I'm wondering whether it's a sign that he may be a trifle confused on occasions...much like Mrs MacSporran
bags Lovely to have you visit our kitchen. Any sticky flapjacks going begging?
Goodnight dear Kitcheners I must log off. I shall return tomorrow.
soop Tara used to do it and would still if she did not hear the magic word "no" said loudly but firmly. She does obey then. The minx in the past, has scraped the leaf design on each side of my fireplace and apparently the marks cannot be painted- thanks Tara.
I think that Rory, like Tara just wants to explore- the grass is always greener is it not?
I do hope that you sleep well tonight after the shenanigans in the garden today. I know that it had to be done but you have been ill with the lurgy. Somebody has to look after you even if it is from a distance!
Morning everyone !
Alea looking at your lovely picture of Grace I realise Sam needs a bath and a haircut ! He is positively grey and looks very fat ( which he is not) a sure sign his coat is out of control. I shall make him an appointment first thing tomorrow .
soop I am amazed at how hard you work in your garden . Im not much of a gardener - more an admirer .
Yesterdays lunch was lovely . I am always amazed at the good manners of the two little boys aged 4 and nearly 2. No getting down from the table, sitting nicely, using their 'indoor' voices. Don't get me wrong , they arent perfect but whilst I don't mind naughtiness at home , its lovely when you're out and they behave well.
I took a lot of pictures but wanted to share the one where my daughter got a slice of cake - please note the small hand trying desperately to make a grab for the cake before Mummy got it it ! That could have been interesting ;-)
happy Sunday one and all !
Lovely cake, any left over for us lot?
I agree, a friend of mine has emailed telling me how much was done in their garden yesterday- I like you prefer to admire. My mother was a keen gardener, my father and I were were the labourers. I enjoy lawn mowing but here there is too much so I have a chap to do it fortnightly.
When it is a tad warmer I must sort out the tubs etc. so I do not appear to be a total slut. I am soldiering on with emptying my wardrobe- such a pity that the charity shops are not open today whilst I am in the mood.
A perfectly bright and sunshiny good morning dear Kitcheners one and all. Wow! The scene outside has to be seen to be believed. Utterly magical,
Charleyg I slept like a log. Didn't get up for a wee. I usually average four pees nightly...so I awoke refreshed. Funnily, my bones and muscles are not giving me "jip". I've lots of scratches and bruises from kneeling on rocky ground. I stink of TCP. Otherwise, I feel fine.
I've now sold three garments on eBay. I have the princely sum of just short of £20. Ha!
I shall be tackling a different area of the garden this afternoon. Doc says to wear a hat and sunscreen because there may be a reaction from use of anitibiotics in sunshine.
NanaandGrampy A lovely, funny photograph. Good that the boys behave well in public. No Nana wants to stifle the effervescence of a grandchild. However, sometimes, boisterous behaviour can be a nuisance to some folk (especially not related) who would prefer to relax quietly over lunch.
Galen...for you...MacSporran was told by the consultant to report to his GP at the early stages of an infection. Five weeks he's coughed and his condition is definitely getting worse. He frog-marched me to the surgery. He refused to tell the doctor that he also has been struggling with a nasty dose of whatever it is. Well...he's now coughing that much he begins to lose his breath. I've ORDERED him to make an appointment first thing in the morning. I rarely chide him
but enough is enough. He's just walked by the window (hat rammed on his head) and dared to give me a cheeky wink.
The pics show a small part of yesterday's clean-up. One couldn't walk into that area without tripping on brambles that thread their way through the undergrowth and up into the branches. Beyond what you can see, is another area that we can now access. This part of the garden is known as no-mans' land. It borders on to a forest that is choked with weeds and brambles. Perfectly acceptable. Only now...we have a place for bin, wheelbarrow and little chalet (for hedgehogs).
Sadly * Charleygirl * it was a single slice gift from the restaurant for the birthday girl . As she has lost 5 stone in recent months through healthy eating and exercise we all just sat and watched her enjoy almost every mouthful. The little lad got a bite or two {smile]
soop love the pictures - you did work hard !! Is that a little hedgehog house?
We have a firm rule that we have used since our girls were small when eating out. We explained to them that someone nearby might have had to save up a long time to eat out and as it's a VERY special treat for them it was up to us to make sure they had the best time. That meant indoor voices, eating with cutlery, no whining AND coca cola for those who excelled
Sod the sugar I say !!
I was proud of them, the 4 year old even ordered his own meal , answered the waiters questions and remembered his ps and qs.
What will you -fritter- -away- spend your ebay millions on?
I have finished my easter egg collection bags and labelled all tiny eggs with initials so there is absolute fair division of spoils. Now they can all read its imperative that's all fair in love, war and easter egg hunts {smile}
soop could you please tell mcSporran that he is not being big and brave, ignoring his cough, but foolish. If indeed it is viral, he may have to tough it out, but given his immune system a bacterial infection needs attention unless he is prepared to be really ill, possibly in hospital on IV antibiotics and thereby causing you immeasurable worry, stress and more work.
There!!
That's him "tell't"
Apart from that -" have a nice day, y'all!"smile]

Had he gagged you at the doctors? Ring the doctor yourself and tell him.
soop please tell MacSporran that Tara and I will be up tomorrow to frog march him to the GP surgery. What Alea said was so true. Does he want the wrath of us lot? I think not so please follow a simple instruction- go and see the GP.
I have had a power cut for over 3 hours but fortunately the fault was at an electricity sub station so it did not cost me anything. I thanked the fellows and was warned that it could happen again- at least I know. My house in the mews, one of eighteen, was the only one affected, weird. I managed to do some more clearing during that time so the charity shop will be pleased. My mobile is recharging and I have a decent lamp with new batteries inserted so I am prepared.
NandG you have very well brought up grandchildren. I hate going out for a meal to hear whingeing and/or screaming within yards of where I am sitting. I do not suffer in silence although my friends do!
Soop Do get Macsporran to the Drs.
I am just in from the garden as my energy ran out. I had the bottom borders cleared of several old shrubs by two big strong men a couple of weeks ago. They dug out the massive root of an old Mahonia and It looked like they had killed a crocodile as a trophy. I don't know how it got that big.
I have planted lot of azaleas and some rhododendrons all of which should thrive in our soil. When I went to B&Q last week they were selling azealas for £5 a pot and some rhododendrons for £15. The catch was that these looked like last years stock and were all badly pot bound. I have teased out the tightly packed roots with an old dinner fork and have given them a good soak in a bucket.
I will have to plant them soon come rain or shine. My new strategy is now to plant as many big plants as possible to keep the weeds at bay.
I am hoping they will flower this year and I will post a picture when if they do.
I have had this flu, accompanied by a cough and did give in and go to the doctor because I was wheezing (never happened before). Yes, it is a chest infection (caught before it got too bad) and she prescribed antibiotics. I do feel much better today after a week, but my energy levels are low.
McSporran needs to go!!
Helloooooooooooooooo
Galen Alea Charleyg Nellie MacS INSISTS that he honestly felt that he was on the mend when he INSISTED that I visited the doc. His symptoms re-emerged mid-week.
MacSporran made his mind up to see doc on Friday evening. First thing tomorrow...he's making an appointment. Even MacS admits to being stubborn. He knows how cross I am.
Nellie Clever thinking
. When we moved from Cornwall (and an acre of garden) I asked dear MacS to not create another difficult to manage garden. I really would have loved a paved terrace on which we could have grown decorative potted plants. We border a forest. All manner of stuff self-seeds on our plot (when we're not looking.) Anyway, having spent yet another three hours of heavy duty toil, MacS promises me that, next year, we'll employ a gardener for a day, during which he'll be paid to get the back-breaking work out of the way.
Jalima I hope that you recover very soon. Our pals in the village started feeling unwell just before Christmas. Neither of them has fully recovered.
Charleyg It does feel good to reduce the number of garments that are surplus to requirements. I'm beginning to feel the urge to do another rummage. It's that time of year.
NanaandGrampy Fritter!
... no frittering from now on. I'm saving towards our visit to see our wee man. We shall need some extra pennies for "treats"...
Carrot and stick...makes perfect sense to offer a wee incentive for such good behaviour.
The two images are of the ground bordering our garden. It is a veritable tangle of wondrous foliage.
It is time for me to log off. I wish you all a peaceful Sunday evening. Thank you for your company.
soop, MacSporran does know the amount of trouble he will be in if he decides tomorrow morning that he is feeling better! Us lot will be visiting!
That is an excellent idea getting a gardener in for a day to do the heavy work next year. It is not fair on you toiling away.
This is for Wot, I kept forgetting last week, Mia on the stairlift. On her way down, and then staying put at the bottom!
Oh, that,s really lovely! Thank you!
Mia is definitely at home on the stair lift. Tara does not go near mine although she has a habit of running ahead, stopping for a wash mid stairs and I have to stop until madam has finished.
Mia looks gorgeous, how old is she? Tara is 11+ but thinks that she is 2.
We don`t know Mia`s exact age, she was a rescue cat, but we`ve had her almost 3 and a half years, and they reckoned she was around 15 to 18 months when we brought her home. She`s a proper little madam!
Oh flippin eck, numberplease you've gone and done it now!! All our animals will be wanting stair lifts!

numberplease
That cat is being spoilt rotten.
That cat thinks she`s the boss. Correction, she KNOWS she`s the boss!
