As we are talking about behaviour on gn,

can I make a plea that people read the thread before posting.

In the last couple of days I have seen a few threads where people have either repeated previous posts with no acknowledgement or asked questions that have been asked and answered previously. I realise that in fast moving threads it can happen but im not talking about those.

Obviously, this is a greater sin when it is my posts that have been ignored! grin

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 06-Feb-16 16:01:55

And me! grin

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 06-Feb-16 16:03:29

Can you take a degree in Gransnetting? Or some sort of course.

Indinana Sat 06-Feb-16 16:04:59

jings how do you manage to get all the posts on one page? Every time I try to select 1000 posts per page, and then 'save changes', it just reverts to 100. I've tried loads of times, logged out of GN, logged back in and tried again. Nothin' doin'. It just won't bl@@dy work angry

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 06-Feb-16 16:08:04

I don't know. I've always done it this way. confused

Indinana Sat 06-Feb-16 16:08:32

That would be too complicated for me.
Too complicated for me too jings. Just trying to accommodate Jalima grin

Indinana Sat 06-Feb-16 16:09:28

hmm might just have to ask GNHQ why it doesn't work for me then.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 06-Feb-16 16:09:30

Well it's gonna be too complicated for 'er! hmm wink

Jalima Sat 06-Feb-16 16:10:19

Jingls grin
I can only have up to 100 messages, but thank you, just tried it and there are 78 on here already!

Indinana thank you, I will try to remember to do that

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 06-Feb-16 16:11:25

It means I can just whizz down through all the posts, on my iPad mini, right down to the OP. And the message box.

Or flip the whole thing if I want to see the OP again.

Jalima Sat 06-Feb-16 16:11:38

and after I posted it reverted to four pages

oh dear, it can't be me, it's my pc

Jalima Sat 06-Feb-16 16:11:48

and again .....

Jalima Sat 06-Feb-16 16:13:22

Found it Indinana, it's under 'customise'!

POGS Sat 06-Feb-16 16:13:55

I don't think as some obviously do, sorry to be a tad obtuse, I will make my apologies now. Why post if you haven't been following the crux of the thread or get a feeling for others points of views.

I suppose there are different ways of looking at it but to my mind if you post without ' at least ' taking the trouble to read the last days posts on a thread you are only interested in making a statement but not interested in engaging in debate or even interested in what others think. I will clarify that by saying that I only feel that way on threads that are of a more serious nature not light hearted ones that ask how you wash your bum or pick your nose as the topic of conversation. . That's why threads on the same subject get repeated and posts mirror those already there. Now threads can be doubled up because the latter is started a few days later than the original but flipping heck when they are practically straight away it is showing the latter poster has not bothered to even check if they are being original. I know it happens and it is good when the second poster acknowledges the fact and magnanimously directs posters to the original thread.

I guess we are all different but I like to read what others have to say before posting as it's engaging with fellow posters . confused

Jalima Sat 06-Feb-16 16:16:10

It's because I was going back reading through the thread before replying that I got in a muddle with replying though, POGS

I could be sorted now!

POGS Sat 06-Feb-16 16:21:15

Jalima

I was talking in general , sorry please don't think I was reponding to your posts.

kittylester Sat 06-Feb-16 16:25:07

I have my threads set up so they are all continuous, on one page confused

Indinana Sat 06-Feb-16 16:25:22

Found it Indinana, it's under 'customise'!
Yes I know it is Jalima. That's where I go to try to change it, but every time I hit 'save changes, it just reverts to 100.

Indinana Sat 06-Feb-16 16:26:37

Sorry, 'save options' not changes.

Jalima Sat 06-Feb-16 16:28:56

I thought I had done it too, and it has on this thread but not on others.
Going to do something else now smile

kittylester Sat 06-Feb-16 16:30:03

And, I agree with POGS, smile

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 06-Feb-16 16:32:07

I don't think there is anything wrong in simply making your own statement. Perhaps best not to be influenced by what others say. We must not be tempted to adopt a 'sheep' attitude.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 06-Feb-16 16:34:59

I mean, if advice is asked, why should we need to know what others think?

kittylester Sat 06-Feb-16 16:41:29

I'm not really talking about advice threads where I would agree with your method, but shortish chat type threads.

POGS Sat 06-Feb-16 16:43:26

Perhaps I made a mistake by using the word statement , maybe I should have said only interested in their own contribution ,thought. Is that better. [cake]

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 06-Feb-16 16:49:09

I think I will go and make a real cake. To cheer up a rainy afternoon. smile
