Did you get a bit of a thrill, perhaps a slight "frisson" when you put it in the post box?

POGS Mon 23-Nov-15 21:01:52

How did 'IT' know where to post the letter though. confused

POGS Mon 23-Nov-15 21:04:26

Sorry forget I asked giving 'IT' oxygen.

As there are so many people able to read the Gransnet forum without actually being members, might it not be better to stop commenting on this spiteful act?

I bet whoever it is is enjoying reading this thread.

15 mins of fame and all that?

Charleygirl Mon 23-Nov-15 21:44:28

Elegran i also come from north of the border but in my case about 100 years ago now and I am based in London. It defies belief that somebody could wish phoenix out of a job.

mcem Mon 23-Nov-15 21:51:40

Charley you omitted the city of Dundee but I forgive you. There aren't many of us around here and I can't think of any obvious animosity towards phoenix stemming from Scottish grans. I prefer the red herring theory.
To echo a post upthread ' it wisnae me!'
I think you're handling this unpleasantness remarkably well phoenix !

Charleygirl Mon 23-Nov-15 21:59:43

mcem how could I possibly forget Dundee having worked there for several years? The brain has not slipped, it has fallen down a steep hole. Having been born and brought up in Fife in my youth, Dundee was where my mother and I used to shop frequently.

Katek Mon 23-Nov-15 23:11:25

Inverness as well Charleygirl! Seriously though-is this sort of thing not normally carried out by someone with a personal axe to grind? Surely the chances of some random stranger wanting to attack Phoenix like this must be astronomical?

FarNorth Mon 23-Nov-15 23:15:05

I saw this thread when it had only a few posts and I thought it would fizzle out so I'm amazed to see how far it has gone on.
I haven't read it all, only the last few posts, and am even more amazed that someone has apparently sent a poison pen letter to phoenix.
It's beyond me why anyone would do such a thing. They must have very twisted, unhappy thought processes.

annodomini Mon 23-Nov-15 23:39:09

Isn't Stirling also a city nowadays? This Scottish granny has been south of the border for 40-odd years, though only last month in Dundee - not guilty ladies and gents. phoenix, I hope the cats have made good use of that piece of rubbish. moon

kittylester Tue 24-Nov-15 06:49:33

It would be strange if someone not on GN would have seen both the threads necessary to do the deed as they were a good period of time apart. And, as I understand it, it was not Phoenix who received the letter. The perpetrator is a nasty, twisted person with a very sad life.

downtoearth Tue 24-Nov-15 07:57:44

cant add anything to this phoenix but am so sorry that you have been a target of such vicious behaviour....some people are such A*******s...with a capital A .....I hope theirs closes up and their piles become as big as grapes....angry for you

BiNtHeReDuNiT14 Tue 24-Nov-15 10:04:38

I am a 'North' grannie too and not guilty either phoenix
I learned the fact that anything posted on here can be seen on line after I posted about the DNA test being available at S-------g.
Next thing I knew was if you Googled the particular product or the shop--hence not giving full name this time--, my full post came up. Taught me a lesson to watch what I post.
Like all 'bullies' phoenix he or she is a coward and saving you money on cat litter.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 24-Nov-15 10:09:46

I hope all Scottish grannies don't feel the need to come on with a 'not guilty'!

Desist! Probably a lurker anyway.

Best forgotten now?

posie Tue 24-Nov-15 10:11:32

What a nasty person they must be - to actually try to get someone sacked!!

To make it worse Phoenix seems such a lovely person to do this to. I can't understand why someone would want to harm her.

Suspicion seems to be on Scottish Grans so can I add myself to the "it wisnae me" list.
You can see where I am on Elegrans map & the farthest I get time to go these days is about 20miles from home.

petra Tue 24-Nov-15 12:45:53

Your still feeding it. Even more so now with this Scottish thing. Have you know idea what delight trolls get out of this.

Anya Tue 24-Nov-15 13:27:13

Just because something is posted in a particular place does not mean the person lives there. They could be on holiday, just visiting, give it to someone else to post.....who knows how someone like that, with a devious mind, thinks and operates?

Charleygirl Tue 24-Nov-15 13:43:08

I agree Anya-unfortunately the first explanation is that the person lives in or around the city identified but you are so right, it could be sent from another part of the country to a totally innocent person who was asked to post it.

I cannot work out how phoenix's place of work and address were identified.

The perpetrator must be enjoying all the attention
