idly wondering what everyone else is eating. We are spag bol (from the freezer) and salad and then an apple crumble I found - at least I think it's an apple crumble...forgot to label it and have been caught out before

Really fancy yours kitty but I also love smoked haddock and poached egg ann. We have that quite often but usually with new potatoes. I am not a chip fan.

We are having jumbo prawn stir-fry with noodles.

Lots of delicious things here.
Really interesting how many people still have 'proper' puddings. My mother always made one when I was growing up but, since I've been an adult then had my own family, only have puddings when entertaining or on special occasions. Even eating out I'll often choose a starter over a pud.

For everyday, we just have fruit if we want or, sometimes but not often, a really good piece of cheese with a second glass of wine!

Had assumed the rest of my generation no longer cooked/ate puddings regularly but seems like I'm wrong.

Townie, I don't eat puddings. We always have fruit after our main meal, and when eating out I'd always choose a starter in preference to a pudding. However, when friends cook, and produce a range of lovingly prepared home made puds I feel obliged to sample at least one. If we are hosting a meal I usually buy something delicious, perhaps from Patisserie Valerie, but don't then claim to have made it. My weakness is Quality Street and a handful from the tin usually serves as a postprandial sweet treat.

I don't make puddings either but I would always have a pudding if there is one around!blush We tend to have some nuts or a piece of chocolate later on if we do anything!

Seems as though smoked fish is popular tonight. We had smoked River Cobbler, creamy mashed potatoes, and spinach with a poached egg on top. Then jelly and ice cream for pud, as sore throats are here, so nice and soothing.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 23-Oct-15 18:42:09

Same as every Friday - homemade fish and chips. With baked beans.

No pudding today. The 'sugar' thread made me eat a bowl of Frosties, so I don't feel like making one. hmm

(Poor DH - will offer him some Cocopops)

rosequartz Fri 23-Oct-15 18:46:55

M&S Count on us fish pie with extra spinach for me
Mackerel chips and peas for himself.
I tried to persuade him to have a jacket potato but 'Fridays aren't Fridays without chips' hmm

2paracetamol, 500mg Amoxicillin, 1co-Trimoxazole........And half a chocolate mousse with ice cream as still have bl...y lurgy. On a good note lost 11 lbs and am feeling somewhat better.

Going to cook 'One pot whole chicken' tomorrow to celebrate grin followed by plum crumble and custard and hope I might actually be able to taste something for the first time in 9 days!

Pittcity Fri 23-Oct-15 19:23:08

We had a Pork Curry with rice and parathas, accompanied by a glass of homemade Rioja.

rosequartz Fri 23-Oct-15 19:24:43

Oh no loopylou It is certainly taking its time to go.

At least you are eating a little bit, hope you can manage tomorrow's dinner, it sounds delicious.
I haven't decided what we're having tomorrow, although Sunday is roast lamb.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 23-Oct-15 19:43:54

Hmm. Plum crumble. 11lbs. How long till that goes back on? hmm

Only joking! It will do you good. Hope you can enjoy it. smile

A casserole of pork shoulder steaks braised in a white wine sauce with mushrooms. New potatoes and peas. It was very tasty. I thought it might make a change. Casseroles of any kind send DH hurtling into the culinary Slough of Despond. He covered his in Henderson's Relish (a sort of poor man's Worcestershire sauce) and shovelled it down so fast I don't think it touched the sides. I hope he gets indigestion!

Grilled chicken breast with mango and fennel salsa and rice. Left over apple and BlackBerry pie and custard.

tanith Sun 25-Oct-15 18:07:40

We had lean pork loin chops with carrot and swede mash, mushrooms and brussel sprouts.. I had a Tesco Choux bun for dessert , youngest granddaughter was here for a sleepover when I asked her if she wanted the other Choux bun she said ooh Nanny its a giant Profiterole grin she was right it was exactly a giant Profiterole..

Pittcity Sun 25-Oct-15 18:14:06

Roath leg of lamb cooked with garlic and rosemary. Ate early because our tummies didn't know the clocks had changed.

kittylester Sun 25-Oct-15 18:17:08

We went out and I had Caprese salad, roast beef, garlic roast potatoes and carrots, parsnips and kale. My pudding was a specially made Eton Mess as all the puddings on the menu contained gluten. It was all lovely! I have dosed in front of the TV for most of the afternoon! grin

Iam64 Sun 25-Oct-15 18:58:53

Just phoned to order a take away from the (excellent) Bangladeshi half a mile away. We've been away overnight, busy driving home (I hate the m6 these days) then unpacking, putting washing in and tidying the garden, before walking the dogs. No cooking for either of us, and the food will be great.

loopylou Sun 25-Oct-15 19:16:15

Soy and Honey baked Salmon, chestnut mushroom, garlic and celery hot salad and remains of plum crumble for DH. Ice cream and crumble for me.

hildajenniJ Sun 25-Oct-15 19:22:16

Stuffed chicken breasts, roast and mashed potatoes, carrots and green beans, roast parsnips, chipolatas and gravy.
I now have a milk loaf in the bread maker, and think I might make myself some sort of banana pudding if I can find a recipe for one person.

harrigran Sun 25-Oct-15 19:23:21

Lasagne and salad at lunchtime because we were going to my sister's for coffee and cake. She is a good German housewife and always has very fattening torte.

Grannyknot Sun 25-Oct-15 22:05:01

Home made veg lasagne ... the sauce a ratatouille made with the usual plus some roast butternut but also on this occasion a punnet of various fresh sprouting beans (found at Co-op) - some were peppery. It was delicious.

I cheat with the sauce by using creme fraiche and grated cheese, easy peasy.

Seconds and therefore no pudding!

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 25-Oct-15 22:08:10

Roast chicken dinner cooked by DD2. Followed by stewed apple (boring)

merlotgran Sun 25-Oct-15 22:17:59

We had shoulder of lamb done in the slow cooker with roast potatoes (Sunday treat) steamed cabbage and mashed root veg. No pud!

So busy with the building work we didn't eat until 2.30 and with the clocks going back I was starving by then so piled on the extra veg which is normally saved for tomorrow's soup.

Ho-hum hmm

Maggiemaybe Sun 25-Oct-15 22:43:05

We had Delia's fish pie, as cooked by DH. Delicious. Haven't had it for a while, but it won't be long till we make he makes it again.

ninathenana Mon 26-Oct-15 09:52:03

We're having lunch out so dinner will be "ifits" DD's saying, meaning if its in the freezer that's what we're having grin
