I am! According to the letter I got from Marks & Spencer this morning, at any rate.
Enclosed with the letter was my Sparks card. It is unique apparently. And it is my "ticket to personalised offers, priority access to Sales and invitations to special events". Gosh, I am so excited!
No-one else has got one of these yet. I know that because the letter said that my Sparks card has been "delivered exclusively to you before anyone else. (my underlining).
I just thought I'd let all you lesser mortals know about it, so you won't be surprised when your cards turn up, probably next month sometime. I will, of course, have already snapped up all the offers by then. Because I'm special, and got my card first wink

I got one too and downloaded the app so I could use the card on my phone and DH could have the actual card as they won't let us have 2 on the same account, not that special then!
I think it's just a way of keeping tabs on what we buy as I already get loads of M&S discount vouchers that I never use.

you only need a couple of shells and a grass skirt in the South Pacific

Oh my word that would truly scare the natives hmm

Elegran Sat 17-Oct-15 17:10:50

What about the red feathers and the huly huly skirt?

rosequartz Sat 17-Oct-15 17:14:16

Actually, you don't even need the couple of shells, as DGS noticed to his endless fascination (he is 7) grin

Nonnie Sat 17-Oct-15 17:17:43

But apparently Red Feathers and Hula Hula skirt was only a man's dream whereas of course South Pacific was real grin

LullyDully Sat 17-Oct-15 17:41:16

I got mine last week. Not sure what it's for.

rosequartz Sat 17-Oct-15 17:44:41

Nonnie have you read the book 'Tales of the South Pacific'?
It is more gritty than the film!

yogagran Sat 17-Oct-15 21:16:31

I'm with whitewave on this, threw mine away too. I've got enough cards of varying kinds thank you.
Not sure what it was for anyway confused

Indinana Sat 17-Oct-15 21:24:57

I have to agree the card does seem a bit meaningless. From what I can gather, one collects 'sparks', not to exchange for products or use as money-off at the tills, but to have access to 'offers' or 'new season previews'. What a load of tosh confused

I too have been honoured with this special opportunity and while I have on occasion shopped in M&S, I have far more frequently ranted publicly, especially on GN, about my long-standing dislike of the store.

Are they making a peace offering to me and are ready to enter into negotiations about stocking more clothes that I might actually want to wear?

Nonnie Sun 18-Oct-15 10:03:21

Rose no I haven't. Would it ruin the film for me? I have very special memories of an amateur production of SP so don't want them affected.

I was recently looking for a better credit card and the M & S one was near the top of the comparison tables so maybe it is a good idea.

I just received some exciting vouchers from M&S in the post - 20% off stuff I don't want! And seven (yes seven) vouchers for friends and family for 20% off (anything but food)! Can be used multiple times between 22nd and 26th October. I must be very special indeed, sick with excitement, can't wait to tell them!
However, it does say that if you join the Sparks club there will be no need for paper vouchers any more.
Now, has the recycling gone yet?
But at least with paper vouchers I can see if they've run out or not confused now

Re South Pacific - I wouldn't bother, Nonnie, it might disillusion you!

Stansgran Mon 19-Oct-15 14:03:45

Sorry Harrigran you're not that special I've got one I'm in the n east. grin

M0nica Mon 19-Oct-15 16:50:36

This morning, to add to my 'special' invitation, I received some vouchers offering me 20% off purchases between the 22 - 26 October. Oh hang on, I have just checked them, one voucher for me and 7 for my friends and family. Each voucher can be used multiple times.

Although I am not usually an M&S shopper I was planning to go to Witney this Friday and do some clothes shopping so I will take my voucher and may look in M&S, I may just be lucky and find something I need and like, but I am not holding my breathe, I rarely find anything I like there.

Nonnie Mon 19-Oct-15 17:07:09

Don't hold your breath Monica those vouchers keep coming, I think about every 6 weeks. DH gets them and you can see them on Vouchercodes too. Don't know why anyone would pay full price there just wait for the vouchers to come.

M0nica Mon 19-Oct-15 17:08:46

Never had them before. This is the first time I have ever been on an M&S mailing list and I am not sure why. On the rare occasions I do shop there it is in a shop, not online.
