how about a new and happy thread, for the good bits in our lives.

So today I smiled because the first redstarts appeared in the garden and a gaggle fo noisy fieldfares.

I smiled today having met my dear friend for coffee and we parted 4 hours later having had 3 Americanos. And still had to leave some things to discuss next time grin

Smiled all week-end because we had some old school friends to stay, and he had cancer of the oesophagus this year and a massive operation- and he was so well and happy to be with lots of other old friends- wonderful.

I smiled yesterday when we were returning from London where we had seen Imelda Staunton in Gypsy. The tube was very crowded and as a young woman and I made for the only empty seat she stood back and said to her friend 'oh let her have it she's old!' I had my best trendy outfit on and thought I looked pretty good for 64 but I DID smile, my DH however laughed out loud.grin

I smiled today because after an horrendous year last year with my DH's prostate cancer, we have been to the hospital today to be told his levels have come down so low that he is no longer required to have 6 monthly checks, they don't want to see him for a year. smile smile

Bellanonna Tue 04-Aug-15 17:44:58

That must make you feel wonderful KatyK. Even the little things, like planning a holiday. Well, not that that's little of course, but you can make plans. I get those feelings of relief too and after all the anxiety it's wonderful. smile

KatyK Tue 04-Aug-15 17:55:11

Thank you Bellanonna. We are SO happy but we do realise that cancer is unpredictable so not being complacent, just grateful and making the most of what we have.

wonderful news for you both, pheew.

I smiled to day when I read John Howe, the famous Canadian illustator for all the Tolkien film adaptations, Canadian but who lives near me, that he used my favourite wild dale as inspiration for his drawings. GS will be tickled pink when he hears that.

when I heard this strong and loud tapping outside- and saw it was the nuthatch- going berserk tapping on the roof of the bird house- because there were no sunflower seeds left. Cheeky thing!

Greenfinch Fri 07-Aug-15 16:14:21

when my autistic DGS called after us as we were leaving "I won't forget you". As we see him almost every other day , he would have a job to.

chelseababy Fri 07-Aug-15 16:46:51

I smiled today listening to the cricket! Come on England (and Wales).

ginny Fri 07-Aug-15 18:01:44

I smiled today as I picked enough home grown runner beans for our dinner tonight.

I smiled no stop for 3 days- as the musicians we hosted turned out to be fabulous people as well as magical musicians- and last night was wonderful- at 3am, only 15 people were left - all talented musicians, a cello, 2 guitars, several HANGS, a didgeridoo, a lyre, an accordion, a piano, a mouth organ, a couple of singers and a poet- and shooting stars in the sky - wow.

Lona Wed 12-Aug-15 13:47:46

I've been smiling non stop since Monday, when, at the eye hospital we were told that my son's sight has improved by an amazing amount!
Last year I was afraid that he would lose nearly all his sight, but not any more!
It was so nice to get good news for a change.

dustyangel Wed 12-Aug-15 15:56:17
