I'm sorry DH's hospital discharge failed but I can't say I'm surprised, aren't men stubborn whotsits!
Hopefully now he'll realise that he needs to be fitter in order to be home, he's lucky he didn't break anything falling over.
Hopefully he will now listen to you!

So pleased common sense has prevailed number. I know you are back to visiting but the family must take their share of that and at least you can rest at other times and sleep knowing he is in the right place. I hope the staff impress on him he may have set his recovery back by his "pigheadedness".

Is it possible for the OHs at the hospital to make arrangements with your local authority to have the necessary handrails etc fitted in time for his eventual homecoming?

Hurrah! number Well, what a to-do. Thank goodness that Mr number is back where he belongs (for the time being.) The pal of ours who is now in the care home also kept falling and couldn't be lifted. Paramedics as good as moved in to his home they were such frequent visitors. There comes a time when as Lona says...common sense has prevailed. I am truly relieved for you and your husband. Some serious physio together with the necessary aids around the house will make life safer for him when he returns.

number I am well aware that Mr. number did not help in the slightest by demanding to go home. He was not that long out of ITU, was not 100% on stairs and it was a long BH so no chance of grab rails being fitted. You cannot be expected to be around 24/7- you need rest also.

I do hope that your daughter apologised after she saw the pickle that he was in when the nurse arrived and he had fallen prior to that.

Hopefully you will sleep well tonight, knowing that he is being properly cared for.

Hospitals used to be fined if a patient was readmitted I think within 28 days and it was an inappropriate discharge. I have lost track of what happens today.

Wow number, that is good news. Funnily enough I nearly mentioned in my earlier post that the first time BiL came out from hospital, he went back in again within 36 hours. And stayed in longer that time.
I'm so glad that DH hasn't still got full response ability for his brother.

I've just received photos forwarded by DD1, of my gorgeous GS and his girlfriend who have been doing the Three Peaks Challenge this weekend. They have been lucky with the weather although they were up to their knees in snow at one point on Ben Nevis on Friday! He looks so happy and I am so, so proud of him. Photos of Snowdon still to come.

number what a relief to have your DH back where he can be cared for. It is a strain for you to have to go back to visiting, but much less stress on you than having him at home and trying to cope. Hope he will soon be well enough to return.

My sister's party was a huge success. Lots of family and friends came, it was a very happy occasion and did us all good after the trials and tribulations we've had of late.

The food was lovely and there is an abundance of cheesecakes, pavlova and cake left over so dig in, Granspals

This morning DH, dear sister, dear cousin and myself went to the Easter Sunday morning service which we enjoyed. Afterwards we were invited to stay and have sherry, coffee and simnel cake. Very delicious

DH isn't feeling too good. He has an awful cough so hoping it is nothing sinister.

And am so relieved about number's OH! I had the care of my DF for a while and he fell, after a bad stroke. I had to call neighbours, he was naked as he had been to the bathroom for a wash, it took two men and two women to lift him. And he had to lie there for a very long half hour until they came. I had told him that our house wasn't suitable, being very old and with lots of small steps to every room, but he was desperate to get out of his own house. I think you are going to need some nursing help, number. Purely because he will listen to them when he may not to you. My father sounds very similar.

DS has gone back today, I shall so miss him, he is very helpful and so easy-going.

Bella, I do so hope that your husband`s cough is soon better, and doesn`t get any worse, seeing as you`re enjoying your trip so much. Your sister`s party seems to have been a great success, lovely to hear.
As for my stubborn old git, physio say they`ll need a minimum of 3 days working with him. The district nurse said we should be prepared to have a bed downstairs for a while, till all the necessary work is done, but our living room is quite small (12`x 13`), and fairly full of furniture. We`d have to move the settee out, but where to put it? Never mind, things will get sorted, they have to.

Bella I'm really pleased to hear that the birthday celebration was a great success. Some happy memories to take home with you. Your dear husband's cough will naturally concern you. Are you planning to return home soon? I'm not sure what your itinerary is.

The weather here in bonnie Kintyre is as good as it gets. Last night's sunset was stunning. Took far too many photos.

I too suffered from a very grumpy male patient when OH came out of hospital. While you feel sorry for their ill health the last thing you want is for them to get difficult when you are trying to assist them.

When my OH is unwell he seems to regard any suggestions of support as being patronised to the point where I wanted just to say "well s**f you then."

The trouble is, he takes as a serious rebuff if I say I`m not ready for him coming home. It`s a pity it was the Easter weekend, or things would possibly have got moving more quickly, regarding handrails.

We return to Malta on Thursday morning. DH is due to have his chemo on Friday at 8am. He's not feeling very well at all at the moment so I hope he will pick up before we have to leave.

I'm torn between not wanting to leave my lovely sister, and wanting to get DH home, plus little DGD is counting the days until we return. 'Three more bed-times, Nana' she informed me today when we 'Face Timed'
