Hello and welcome...grin

Gagagran Sun 12-Apr-15 17:37:19

Just caught up with all this and I am more than a bit shocked at the unwarranted criticism of Galen who is one of our wisest and kindest counsellors on GN.

Remember Julian of Norwich Galen - "All shall be well and all shall be well and all manner of things shall be well" - a pertinent quote at this difficult time for you I thought. flowers

loopylou Sun 12-Apr-15 17:40:53

That must be very worrying Galen, I do hope it's an isolated event.
((Hugs)) to you, take care x

moomin Sun 12-Apr-15 17:44:13

Well said as always Elegran and although I pop in rarely, Soop's Kitchen is a place of support and friendship, not criticism or unpleasantness

MiceElf Sun 12-Apr-15 17:59:50

And in the unlikely event that anyone wonders why I no longer post on this forum, the comment above from Jollyg (amongst others) is the reason.

soop Sun 12-Apr-15 18:02:14

Galen dear Kitchener You have our support...end of. PLEASE stay. We love you. flowers

whitewave Sun 12-Apr-15 18:03:18

Hope you're new daughter is OK and the seizure is isolated. It happened to my cousin last year, after all the usual tests nothing was found and they assumed it was to do with stress - A levels.

I worked with a transgender chap who went through a sex change and it was surprising how easy we all found it to accept his new gender - it didn't seem long at all until we simply forgot his old gender.

Soutra Sun 12-Apr-15 18:04:27

Another post to add weight to those who have pointed out that Soop's Kitchen was set up to be and has always been a haven from the sniping or argumentative interchanges which sometimes characterise other threads. I think Galen is free to refer to her DCs in whichever way she chooses. There is no question of her support for her DCs and I can only express my sincere sympathy for this unwarranted and intolerant criticism by jollyg

Jollyg We have never had cross words between us lot in our kitchen...that's the way we prefer things to remain. I also think that Galen deserves an apology.

soop Sun 12-Apr-15 18:09:09

Gagagran thank you for the most pertinent quotation. smile
Tomorrow is a new day. Take it easy dear Kitcheners and I shall open the new extension first thing tomorrow. Don't go too far. We need each other. moon

Lona Sun 12-Apr-15 18:14:46

Out of order jollyg.

Ariadne Sun 12-Apr-15 18:22:32

I am saddened that this haven of GN has been disrupted by unkindness and thoughtlessness towards one of our most respected and helpful friends. An apology would be too much to expect, I suppose?

whenim64 Sun 12-Apr-15 18:38:41

Galen flowers Take no notice of uninformed jibes. Many of us understand what has been happening and how challenging the experience has been for your family.

baubles Sun 12-Apr-15 18:52:05

Popping in to say hello Soop et al.

This is always such a comforting environment, I'm so surprised to see an unkind remark directed at a mother who only ever has the best interests of her child in her heart. Galen flowers

To all of you who are troubled by your own or your partner's health problems I send my best wishes. Some of you have so many worries borne with great spirit.

Agus thank you for remembering my DH. He was discharged yesterday evening and now has to wait 2/3 weeks for the result of the biopsy.

I've brought some homemade lemon drizzle cake and a jigsaw, if anyone cares to lend a hand with it please feel free. I always find it calms the nerves. smile

whenim64 Sun 12-Apr-15 18:54:26

What a good idea, Baubles. Can't beat a jigsaw for relaxing smile

Bellasnana Sun 12-Apr-15 19:15:30

Having had the good fortune to meet Galen in person, I am offended on her behalf and saddened that the peace and tranquility of soop's kitchen should be sullied by any unkindness. sad

Please, please do not be put off posting, Galen. There are a great many more of us on your side than there are against and I am sure we can offer you love and support during what must be a very worrying time for you.flowers

I have found such kindness here in the kitchen and feel we can all offer a kind word to prop each other up during life's frequent 'bumps in the road'.

flowers (((hugs))) and love to all.

kittylester Sun 12-Apr-15 19:18:43

Galen, I'm struggling to post on any threads at the moment as time is just flying by but I had to say how sad to see someone who obviously isn't a regular visitor to the kitchen, be so nasty! sad

You know you are amongst friends here and you can talk to us whenever you need to! wine

Charleygirl Sun 12-Apr-15 19:21:57

Jollyg I think that you can come out of hiding now and offer an apology to Galen as many others have suggested. You really were out of order and are very much in the minority.

Nelliemoser Sun 12-Apr-15 19:25:29

Galen Hang on in there ! I can fully imagine the turmoil you are going through in this situation .

However upbeat and accepting we feel about issues such as transgender or gay children. if one of my children had come out as gay I know I would be worrying like mad about the difficulties they may have in life , and that includes the prejudice they could be subjected to.

dustyangel Sun 12-Apr-15 20:40:35

Galen I've caught up with soops kitchen tonight with mounting horror. Please, please reconsider leaving.
I enjoy your posts and would really miss your succinct comments. Please don't go.

dustyangel Sun 12-Apr-15 20:42:58

MiceElf I've missed you and have been wondering where and how you are.

GadaboutGran Sun 12-Apr-15 20:56:37

As another who rarely posts now, I think this post form JG just confirms why so many of us have stepped back from GN. This, & especially Soop's Kitchen, is somewhere where people shouldn't have to be worried about sharing their worries. Lots of love & support to a courageous woman, Galen.

Purpledaffodil Sun 12-Apr-15 21:17:42

Please don't go Galen. Your posts have such wisdom. It would be a great loss if you disappeared because of an ignorant and uncalled for comment. As others have said this thread is a refuge from such posts and I suspect that jollyg was unaware of that.
Thanks for the advice Charleygirl. Trouble is that Lulu is a one man cat and has always rejected my advances. However Mr Purple has given her extra attention and cat treats. She'll be the fattest ex Dubai alley cat in the world soongrin

Alygran Sun 12-Apr-15 21:22:26

With so much sadness, heartache and difficulty about, the kitchen is a special haven. flowers all round and especially to Galen, be kind to yourselves. You are definitely worth it.xx

janerowena Sun 12-Apr-15 21:38:37

I would miss you Galen. sad

I wish people would get all their facts straight before saying things.

Galen Sun 12-Apr-15 21:44:17

Ill lurk. But won't post unless I think someone needs my specialised knowledge!
Unusually for me, I'll quote the bible

Love oneanother!
