There are new guidelines coming in, I was told by them last week. No-one is going to be allowed to have more than two days off during the months of December and January. Unless you are ill, of course.

And all leave for all staff is going to be calculated by computer, as to when it will be the best time for each member of staff to have their holidays. No more going to the Head of Department, you will be notified and have to stick to it, so that holidays will be arranged (hopefully) around the needs of the general public, rather than by who has children and needs to take time off during school holidays, to make it more fair for everyone. And carrying over of holiday days not taken is no longer permitted.

These knitting club sessions are proving to be a bit of an eye-opener! As between them they work in four hospitals, and two GP practices, they like to swap stories. It's been fascinating.

When I lived in Lochaber an got ill just about every forthnight, my ma went up to the local hotel asked..
When will Dr C be in?

It was for his daily morning ticture.

Soon he appeared.

It was just one these annoying child ailments , Asidosis.

Hello everyone. Not been in recently as life has been a bit difficult and upsetting. Been too tired to log into GN but made an effort today and have decided to use you as guinea pigs treat you all to my latest burnt offering baking success a slightly dry delicious Victoria sponge! I have also put some coffee on which will wash it down compliment it perfectly .

soop He is of course, quite right, what more was necessary? He said it all. I love the photo of him, and also I shall never look at chrees in quite the same light again.

janerowena Even as a baby, he loved the trees. We grandparents always stood for some long time under trees, so that he could watch the light dance through the leaves. Then, when he became a toddler, we had to inspect the bark of almost every tree that we passed in the park. It took forever to get home.

annsixty I shall look forward to the next episode...

I love chrees too! I mean, REALLY love them. I even chose to go to work for a tree propagating nursery once I had the necessary knowledge. I hate anyone cutting any down, unless they are seriously congested. I therefore detest my tree surgeon neighbour, who sees trees as only a source of fuel for his stove, so persuades clients whose trees only need a short back and sides to have them completely felled. We are starting to look like a desert around here, he is destroying his own future income too.

Crafting that Victoria sponge is delicious, you are far too modest! Hope things are looking up for you, being upset is very tiring, so take it easy in here for a while.

I've just read that the aeroplane was crashed deliberately...No words to express my feelings.

Why would anyone do that?

I got some wild garlic at the farmers market yesterday, so I'm going to make wild garlic soup served with sourdough bread ( also from the market).
I actually had a days work yesterday so I took my new luggie for a maiden run as it was a Wednesday and the market was on.
I hadn't been for over 6/12 but many of the traders said ' hello, nice to see you back again'.

I had never thought of making soup with it. I shall have to try that.

I read that a pilot left the cockpit (maybe to go to the loo?) and then found himself locked out. The other pilot crashed the plane. I would love to know why, but can you just imagine what was going through the crew's minds? Horrific.

To deliberately take the plane and all the innocent passengers and crew to their deaths is incomprehensible and unforgiveable and heart breaking. If the co-pilot wanted to end his own life, then why on earth did he not do so before boarding the plane.

Not thinking straight, presumably. I used to wonder why suicide was called selfish, I think it probably is, but in the true sense of the word as the feelings of others become irrelevant.

Unfortunately, and unfairly, his family will probably be victimized because of his actions, which were unforgiveable.

Exactly what I'm thinking, number. I cannot begin to imagine the nightmare that they are living through. What would I do and think if I were in their shoes.

soop I discovered that I had been "forgotten" about with a referral to a surgeon when I spoke to his secretary to get an idea when I might be seen. I don't know what had happened but it appeared the surgeon had not seen any referral.

Whether that was because the hospital Dr did not actually send the referral through to the surgeon when he should have (I suspected he was so busy with his aspirations to become a local MP he might not have passed it on) or whether It was lost at the surgeons end.

They certainly got their finger out PDQ when I contacted them.
