OMG, we have three areas of our village cordoned off with armed police.
From reports there has been a knife attack on the service station at the end of our lane. One man has been arrested and parts of the village cordoned off. Scary.

Give yourself up, pompa. We'll visit you, I promise.

We heard from our daughter, she suggested I go and have a look, no way if anyone is waving guns about.

A bit too close to home, stuff like that, isn't it. Fancy suggesting you go to have a look!!!

The only time I have ever seen guns on the street was an occasion about 20 years ago when there were police armed with machine guns guarding the door of the Crown Court. After the first day they were sat in the Land Rover at the other side of the street, but it's an odd feeling walking past people wielding machine guns.

Pompa I will send you food if you do not like prison fayre.

I suspect the police are on high alert ATM for any disturbance. Does seem over reaction for a knife incident.

janerowena Sat 10-Jan-15 12:53:00

I suspect they are worried in case there are any terrorist plots about to erupt. Either that or they watched Silent Witness this week.

pompa Sat 10-Jan-15 13:06:34

Being close to an army garrison, I bet the police are on high alert and sitting round ready just in case. The chance to get out and do something was probably too good to miss. I'm sure our PCSO could have coped.

Haven't seen anything about this on the midday news pompaso there is obviously a security black out. Keep safe.

Candelle Sat 10-Jan-15 13:10:39

Don't pop out for a pint of milk, will you?!

Nothing on the news here.

Please stay inside until you are told to the contrary. Must be worrying...

Keep us updated.

Good luck!

Joking apart I hope no one was badly hurt in knife attack, very disconcerting so close to home.

pompa Sat 10-Jan-15 13:21:49

Don't think this will make the news. Bit of a storm in a teacup.

Mishap Sat 10-Jan-15 13:22:26

Gosh - not a pleasant thing to have going on near you. Stay indoors!

Galen Sat 10-Jan-15 13:23:48

I was a witness to an armed robbery of a jewellers shop. It was scary. They told me to stand away! I obeyed!

Mishap Sat 10-Jan-15 13:34:01

I walked out of a shoe shop in Brum in the 70s and it blew up behind me! IRA.

rosequartz Sat 10-Jan-15 13:37:59

Hope it is resolved peacefully.

I will send you a nice big cake pompa ( hope they don't scan it).

Jane10 Sat 10-Jan-15 13:58:37

Yikes mishap!

hildajenniJ Sat 10-Jan-15 14:04:50

In the 70's we had armed police at our door warning us to stay indoors as there was an "incident" in progress at the top of our road. An armed man was on the loose with a shotgun. Eventually he was shot and killed by a police marksman. He turned out to be a boy I went to school with. His mother was never the same again.

When I was flying from Heathrow to Iceland the terminal was crowded and under alterations. I was somewhere near the El Al (Israeli) airline gates and there the guards had heavy rifles all over the place.

Rose, we are heading out for tea and cake very soon, road better be open now or Pompa won't be a happy bunny.
