Why did you choose your username?

I chose mrsmopp because i have a mop of thick, naturally curly hair which has a will of its own.
Not because my occupation was a cleaning lady, as in: "Can I do you now, sir?" That wasn't me!

It started when I was trying to set up a google account. Everything username I thought of was already spoken for so eventually I put in the name of my favourite childhood doll - and it was accepted. Since then I have continued to use it as a nom-de-internet.

Daisyanswerdo Wed 31-Dec-14 12:05:58

It just came into my head when I joined. I'm not sure it's very good because it seems to be demanding an answer, and I didn't mean that.

Lovely storey vampireqween, well done.
I chose mine after trying various combinations of my email address. By luck I chose a name I feel comfortable with and I like the abbreviations of it as well I been on GN for about two years.

I thought Anya was someone else as well, well I suppose she might be as well if you see what I mean. tchgrin
Does anyone else have a mental image from some names? I know how ninathenana should be pronounced but my brain thinks of Nina Athena, so I imagine an elegant Greek lady. tchsmile

dustyangel Wed 31-Dec-14 12:06:35

Have been.

KatyK Wed 31-Dec-14 15:48:01

I love your name dustyangel tchsmile Yes I have mental images of all posters on here.

Soutra Wed 31-Dec-14 15:52:09

Wasit "twa craws (sat upon a wall)" crow??
My username refers back to our part of Scotland in my childhood.

glammanana Wed 31-Dec-14 16:14:41

Mine has always been the same since joining when GN started ,I choose it because that is what my two eldest DGSs started calling me,when they first started talking I was called "Gamma" as they couldn't sound their "r's" so as they got older my DD evolved it to Glamma as I was always in a business suit & heels when I arrived to pick them up from nursery on my way home from work.Plus I do happen to like the blingy things in life so it suits me.

glammanana Wed 31-Dec-14 16:16:56

^^ chose not choose (sp) keyboard got a mind of it's own to-day.

vampirequeen Wed 31-Dec-14 16:19:20

I agree about ninathenana. I always read it as Nina Athena and picture her as a tall, willowy Greek goddess.

Dustyangel I always see as a sort of Christmas fairy who flits about on a night dusting the higher reaches of the ceiling.

Soutra...sorry I put Karma in front of it and think of you as a slender, Indian maiden with long black hair and large almond eyes.

Daisyanswerdo...makes me think of Little Weed gently controlling the running of the house and garden.

Pompa....sorry I see you as Lurkio from Up Pompeii

In fact I have mental images of all of you

Riverwalk Wed 31-Dec-14 16:25:19

I do long walks along the River Thames! tchsmile

KatyK Wed 31-Dec-14 16:28:18

Some of us have profile pictures and if I sneak a peak they are never as I imagined tchsmile

glammanana Wed 31-Dec-14 16:30:18

Vampirequeen I visualise you as a Kate Bush lookalike tall and black flowing hair,Soutra calm and comforting and full of wisdom,so many images to think about I really must make the effort this year to do a meet up and put faces to names at long last.

Lilygran Wed 31-Dec-14 16:31:37

Sort of anagram. There used to be a website which would make anagrams out of any word you gave it. Hours of innocent fun!

Anya Wed 31-Dec-14 16:47:16

Whenever I see soutra's name I always think Karma Sutra shock

Soutra Wed 31-Dec-14 16:48:42

Well some people's minds........!

Ana Wed 31-Dec-14 16:49:42

I once revised my whole opinion of a member and her posts, having pictured her a certain way, when I saw her photo!

anniezzz09 Wed 31-Dec-14 17:32:08

I can't totally remember but either all the usernames I thought of were taken so in exasperation I added zzz09 or I think the system might have offered me that username (is that likely?).

I'd quite like to change it and drop the zzz09 so if anyone ever replies to or refers to me, please feel free to call me annie!

annodomini Wed 31-Dec-14 17:32:54

Lilygran - almost an anagram of angrily. I hope not!

vampirequeen Wed 31-Dec-14 17:48:46

Oh glammanana you could not be further from the truth lol.

Lilygran Wed 31-Dec-14 17:49:01

anno grin

loopylou Wed 31-Dec-14 18:01:30

Fascinating how names conjure up images:
Lilygran to me is elegant and exotic
Vampirequeen I'm afraid I imagine you looking like a kinder version of Cruella de Ville
Elegran and Glammanana - two very glamorous and ageless beauties
Soutra definitely as Vampirequeen says
Dustyangel somehow conjures up the Deep South.....
Would love to see photos just to find out how wrong I am!

vampirequeen Wed 31-Dec-14 18:08:18

Well I do like fur although I don't own any but I stroke it a lot when I find it on vintage stalls lol.

Gracesgran Wed 31-Dec-14 18:39:12

Guess smile. I should upgrade it now as I have an additional grandchild but it still applies, of course.

Wheniwasyourage Wed 31-Dec-14 18:43:02

Some of you have really thought this through! I joined back in 2011, took ages to think of something and ended up with this because I keep finding myself saying it to people younger an me (which is most of the population nowadays). Just wish I had more imagination.

Sorry, Soutra, I too have had THAT BOOK brought to mind by your name blush As for anniezzzo9, I think of you as buzzing around (like a bee) and getting a lot done.

Dragonfly1 Wed 31-Dec-14 18:43:29

In memory of my beautiful late daughter.
