Why did you choose your username?

I've been around since GN was born. I'd just got home from a yoga class so my name seemed logical then. A little confusing now as there's also a yogagirl too

The origin of mine is very dull, I had a user name constructed for me by another site, cannot even remember which. It asked for favourite colour and favourite flower. Am partial to purple but indifferent to daffodils, so it must have been spring at the time. I didn't realise when I joined GN how significant my user name was going to be! Vampirequeen I just love your story. And I had always imagined you as a hippie, long haired Eleanor Bron type.

It's a bit convoluted,but I am Cornish and the anglicized version of my Cornish name is Guinavere and means whitewave in Cornish.

Wanted something Scottish so chose Thistle, asked DH what he thought and he said that'll do. So I added the doo, Thistledoo was born!!��

For some reason we eight year olds thought this hysterically funny and repeated it ad nauseum.
I am now 73 so you know how long ago that was!!!!!

Because I had become known (unjustly, I stoutly maintain) as The Christmas Grump. It is only my Gransnet name; DGCs call me Grandpa.

Mine came with me from Mumsnet like jingle been here forever, and name chosen as I was having a glass or two when I joined Mumsnet so just seemed obvious choice... not that I usually have a glass or two

Hubby has called me POGS as a term of endearment ever since our first, 'uh hum' weekend away together and a lovely time we had in a lovely village in the Cotswoulds called Broughton Pogs.

I am a newbi a peaceful new year to you all but my name is a neighbours little black and white cat called boots and my date of birth she comes to my house at around 6 every morning come rain or shine and I give her her breakfast I love her I have been a member for a few months but been to scared to post still don't know if I have done this right but I love reading about you all.

Just been re reading this thread, and have a few bits to add. ! I have never changed my name, and I have been here a while - since 2011, I think, along with several others. Not from day one, but very early on in the life of GN.

If you want to see what people look like (someone mentioned this a page or two back) and their name is blue, they may have photos on their profile page.

Thankyou every one for your kindness, I only get up at 6 to six thirty because that's when boots comes calling, as her family are getting ready for work, she then stays with us all day until they come home, well I forgot it was New Year and they wouldn't be working today, so I got up early for nothing. She didn't come until

Hello bootie41 and welcome. My one and only dog was called Bootsie (after Bootsie and Snudge if anyone remembers that programme).
I'm a sort of quiet rebel and when I feel strongly about things I join in marches, campaigns etc. Gransnet was 'born' in May 2011 at the time the government planned to sell off the Forestry Commission, I was a fairly tireless campaigner against the sell off and my children nicknamed me 'grannyactivist' - so that's what I took as my username.

Because i was born in ireland when my dad was in the army over there . But i had an uncle joe who always called me irish annie. He died two years ago, it was a way of remembering him,

Out of interest is your attitude to gransnetters ever influenced by how you perceive them from their username?
I ask because I started with a rather "cosy" name then after problems with someone unpleasant (can't even remember who but I am sure he/she is long gone) I "reinvented" myself with a sort of "firmer" and unisex name. I found I was eliciting a much less sympathetic response than I had before although essentially the same person!
So now I am who I am with a name that I hope says I am female but does not imply any more than a geographical reference. (The image of the dusky dark haired lissome maiden is of course entirely accurate!!)

I'm a gran, and this is where I live- a bit too obvious actually.
