Why did you choose your username?

mrsmopp Tue 30-Dec-14 17:38:11

I chose mrsmopp because i have a mop of thick, naturally curly hair which has a will of its own.
Not because my occupation was a cleaning lady, as in: "Can I do you now, sir?" That wasn't me!

TwiceAsNice Tue 30-Dec-14 22:24:56

Chosen because I have twin grand-daughters. When they arrived two babies instead of one was " Twiceasnice" as just one.

Because like the brown sticky stuff, you either love it or hate it and also 'I' might - or I might not..... MAR are the first 3 letters of my given name, which I never use unless I absolutely have to. So, now you know, even if it's all gobbledygook tchwink . It's an improvement on my first GN name which is what the gc's call me

Lona Tue 30-Dec-14 22:52:46

This is my 3rd name picked because I wanted something short, and I was a bit fed up with things on Gn at the time.
First name got pinched, Nanachrissy, second name change because I was 'discovered' was Ella46 after my mum.

In answer to your question, I joined on (I think) day one, and have always been Phoenix.

HQ will be able to give the actual day!

Anya Tue 30-Dec-14 22:58:01

I've been around since the beginning too. I was originally NanaAnna, but there was another who was (and I think still is) NannaAnna tchconfused as you can imagine that got very confusing. As Anna is my middle name, but it was already in use, I simply went for something very close to it.

harrigran Tue 30-Dec-14 23:25:02

I have been around since the beginning and I have always had this name, harridan and gran ....harrigran tchgrin

merlotgran Tue 30-Dec-14 23:28:00

Who used to be nanaej?

Ana Tue 30-Dec-14 23:28:47

Oh! You weren't who I thought you were, Anya. Had you down as someone quite different - it just shows how all these name-changes confuse some of us...tchconfused

I chose my user name as I used it for another forum or password. It was the first clematis I ever bought. I have been on GN since about march/april 2012 when I learnt I was going to be a gran.

CeeCee Wed 31-Dec-14 00:50:44

Chosen because when I was going through a difficult time my friend called me CC short for crabby cow. I probably was a tad difficult back then, I'm much nicer now (I think) tchblush

vampirequeen Wed 31-Dec-14 06:50:15

I use vampirequeen on other forums too. When I was with ex I joined a mental health support group using a family nickname. I used the group to vent and had several threads including one called 'One hundred things I hate about my husband but am too scared to say'. Number one was 'I hate the way you breathe' lol. Anyway to cut a long story short my ex hacked my desktop, read my posts and, after I left him, joined the forum pretending to be a woman. He then printed off my posts and threatened to send them to my mum, my employer and anyone else he could think of.

The moderators blocked his isp and deleted all my posts. I was going to leave but I needed their support. Also he had cut me off from everyone in the real world when we were married and I was buggered if he was going to control me after I'd escaped. So me and a druggie, cross dressing schizophrenic (he was lovely) chose a name that we thought ex would never link to me. As I was a very conservatively dressed, middle aged, Catholic school teacher we chose vampirequeen.

Oddly over the years I have grown into my name, mainly during my Jezebel period. Now I can't imagine being anyone else lol.

Marelli Wed 31-Dec-14 07:39:11

Crikey, vampirequeen ....well done to you! 'Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned', indeed!

absent Wed 31-Dec-14 07:39:52

Don't blush, just grin.

annodomini Wed 31-Dec-14 08:16:32

vampirequeen, you are wonderful - and a survivor. sunshine

Agus Wed 31-Dec-14 08:20:51

You are inspirational vampirequeen grin

NfkDumpling Wed 31-Dec-14 09:01:56

Agree!

petallus Wed 31-Dec-14 09:46:23

I chose mine in a hurry, not expecting to stay on GN for long but I wanted to comment on something. I thought petal would be nice and sort of pinky Springlike but it had gone. Then I tried petally and it had also gone so I moved on to petallus which seems vaguely Latin and a bit starchy.

If I was chosing again I'd go for blossom.

chocolatepudding Wed 31-Dec-14 10:06:27

I have a sweet tooth -- need I say more?

pompa Wed 31-Dec-14 10:13:30

Err, it's my name.

Crafting Wed 31-Dec-14 10:18:43

This is a great thread. Nice to find out a bit more about other GNetters. Wonderful story vampirequeen sounds as though you are well rid of your ex.

Teetime Wed 31-Dec-14 10:27:16

Duh - cos I play golf not cos I cant spell teatime grin.

Jane10 Wed 31-Dec-14 10:54:58

I put mine down in a hurry as I really wanted to post on a thread I`d read while lurking and didn't really give much thought to it. Its so boring though!! How do you go about changing it?

Crow Wed 31-Dec-14 11:22:20

I had to change my name this year from the original one when I joined right at the beginning.
I chose Crow because it was a nickname when I was a brownie, due to the fact that my friend and I used to repeat a silly poem about a crow.
Hope that makes sense.
