I find this totally unacceptable.

Who would even think to come up with this idea angry

Faye Thu 11-Dec-14 10:20:22

JL obviously don't understand and need a boycott of their shops.

All of my GC wear vests in winter even the two who live in Qld.

Mumsnet had a go? Good on 'em.

ginny Thu 11-Dec-14 10:26:53

I clicked the link. The 'bras' are sized 28A - 34A so obviously not for 2 year olds. It would seem there has been some misunderstanding.

ginny Thu 11-Dec-14 10:30:53

Youngest age I could see was 7. Don't think they need a bra either. Have JL quickly changed the page ?

Ana Thu 11-Dec-14 10:34:53

Yes, ginny. Yesterday the link gave ages from 2 to 5 and the product information referred to bras, not crop tops. As I said.

Agus Thu 11-Dec-14 11:25:46

When I started the thread ginny the link was bras for 2-5yr old.

I suspect, due to many complaints, JL have rethought this one but I think bras for 7yr olds is ridiculous too.

Our 5 year old has a 28" chest but I would still prefer her to have a vest on to keep her back warm.

gillybob Thu 11-Dec-14 11:35:39

I can't see a reference to any age at all on the link. Just the sizes 28aa etc. When I was 14 I was a 28aa. I didn't need a bra of any kind but would have welcomed something like this, which would have been better than wearing a little childs vest.

They've changed it gilly yesterday it was bras for 2-year olds!

Pictures of bras not crop tops.

Just noticed the heading above the illustration still says 'John Lewis Girl Vintage Floral Bra, Pack of 2, Multi'

rosequartz Thu 11-Dec-14 11:48:42

It was most definitely on the JL website, gillybob. Bras for 2-5 year olds, described as 'bras', not crop tops, looked like soft cotton shaped bras.

They must have been inundated with messages and have responded.

I have just received a reply:

^Thank you for contacting Johnlewis.com regarding the bras we are selling online. I am very sorry to hear about your disappointment concerning the bras you have identified online.
It is certainly not our desire to cause upset to our customers. I appreciate the time you have taken to provide me with your feedback. Please be assured that we take this matter very seriously and your comments have been passed onto the relevant department for an internal review.

Disappointed?

At least they have responded and taken them off sale. But have they removed them from the stores as well?

Ana Thu 11-Dec-14 11:51:02

Just looked on the JL website and they are still there, listed under crop tops but named as 'bras'.

They've just changed the size options from age to chest measurement.

rosequartz Thu 11-Dec-14 11:56:30

They are now sized from 28AA to 32A which would not fit 2-5 year olds anyway.
confused

Update:

Not just us then

sherish Sat 13-Dec-14 14:48:10

According to the Daily Mail article the 'bras' only measure 20 inches which would be smaller than a 2 year old. Absolutely bonkers! Should we not be criticising the mothers who buy these garments too?

Agus Sat 13-Dec-14 14:55:15

Good to know that roseq.

Hopefully other stores/manufacturers pay heed to the outcry against inappropriate clothing for children and realise their product may just result in bad publicity.

granjura Sat 13-Dec-14 15:38:20

Indeed- we can but hope.

Ana Sat 13-Dec-14 15:56:30

These 'bras' are still on JL's website, and still for sale. So all that's happened is they've changed the sizing - which if the smallest only measures 20" is wrong anyway!

rosequartz Sat 13-Dec-14 16:01:15

They still don't get it then.

Faye I had to go out and buy myself a vest when I was in N Queensland!
