I find this totally unacceptable.

Who would even think to come up with this idea angry

Charleygirl Wed 10-Dec-14 11:56:38

Unbelievable, I am surprised that JL would do this.

ninathenana Wed 10-Dec-14 11:59:23

shock shock why would you ???

Riverwalk Wed 10-Dec-14 12:01:33

I can't imagine there's much of a demand - or do retailers create that demand? hmm

Agus Wed 10-Dec-14 12:03:22

That surprised me too Charleygirl. I wouldn't have thought a store like JL would resort to selling tack like this.

Bad enough they are for sale but the thought of anyone actually buying these for a 2yr old beggars belief!

I sometimes wonder whether it is a case that any publicity is good publicity.

janeainsworth Wed 10-Dec-14 12:42:57

Where did you see this Agus?
I looked on JL's website and couldn't find anything.
I have to say I really dislike seeing little girls in bikinis, but it seems to be the norm.

Agus Wed 10-Dec-14 12:50:56

Sorry I can't do the link janea. - Girls underwear

I don't like to see little girls in bikinis either.

Agus Wed 10-Dec-14 12:56:42

Girls clothing and accessories - underwear

Well, they're described as 'crop tops' but look very bra-like to me - and what 2, 3 or 4 year old needs either anyway...? hmm

Thanks for doing the link Ana

The crop tops were a different item. These were described as floral bras but I agree, they are definitely not needed

annodomini Wed 10-Dec-14 13:25:58

I'm getting 'page not found'. I wonder if they have had protests about this product.

Riverwalk Wed 10-Dec-14 13:29:06

How strange - earlier they were very definitely described as 'Bras' and they are certainly bra-like in appearance.

Whatever the wording, entirely inappropriate for a two-year old.

Ana Wed 10-Dec-14 13:45:50

Just noticed they're described as bras in the Product Information part of my link.

janeainsworth Wed 10-Dec-14 14:06:04

Yes, I'm getting page not found too.
Crop tops & bras definitely inappropriate for littlies, but I am a firm believer in vests!
Discovered last year that DGD didn't possess any at all, and had to buy some for her.(which she now wears) [interfering old bag emoticon]

HildaW Wed 10-Dec-14 14:07:31

Vests need to be tucked in!!!

granjo39 Wed 10-Dec-14 14:17:50

These certainly look like bra's not a bit like crop tops. They are absolutely ridiculous.

MiniMouse Wed 10-Dec-14 14:29:01

Can't believe JL would even contemplate selling these. In light of all the recent court cases involving young children, it's even more astonishing tchangry

vampirequeen Wed 10-Dec-14 14:31:32

Little girls need nice thick vests tucked into knickers and slightly too large tights that pull up to the chest to keep the tummy warm.

JoyBloggs Wed 10-Dec-14 14:53:52

vampirequeen Couldn't agree more. Always been a John Lewis fan, but find this very disturbing.

janeainsworth Wed 10-Dec-14 15:02:14

Seen the link now. Who on earth buys these things? Some people must, or JL wouldn't sell them sad

granjura Wed 10-Dec-14 15:14:56

Beggars belief. I sincerely hope that those of you who live in the UK will take the time to write, phone or send them an e-mail. So much is done to fight child abuse, and then this.

tiggypiro Wed 10-Dec-14 15:34:12

I have emailed them to ask why they are selling them. I shall post the response - always supposing I get one !
