Annie, love the nut roast recipe you have posted, cant wait to try it. Not going to wait till Christmas for sure! Served with roast potatoes and parsnips plus loads of veg it beats turkey hands down. Been a veggie for years, meat does not tempt me at all.

Maybe that's where it came from, anno. I still would not like to follow his diet, even though I am vegetarian. I do not like milk.

mrsmopp I hope you enjoy it. We've made it for about 15 years now and whenever we have tried to suggest an alternative there is a howl of protest from the junior brigade 'but that's what we always have'!

All the 'trimmings' roast veg, yorkshire pud etc are fine as long as not cooked in meat fat. A small side dish in the oven using oil to cook will do... Ditto gravy - keep some without the meat juice (ie blood).

Then any number of wonderful veg specials to replace the meat.

Some 10% of the population is now vegetarian. Really, what's the big deal?

You are all switching to at least one day a week of no meat, aren't you? Livestock farming accounts for 30% of climate change, it has to stop.

I'm going to try that nut loaf recipe too, anniezzz09. I usually do "Chestnut and red wine pate en croute" by Rose Elliot but that could be a nice change.

Anniezz09, I will make one tomorrow to try it out.

Do you line the loaf tin with foil, or just brush with oil, in case it sticks?

I've done both mrsmopp. The foil route does ensure it can come out in one piece just in case any of it sticks.

Used the foil. Its delicious! Will definitely make it again.
