onmyown Crafting is right. Angus is a virtual dog. Rory is a real cat. In our kitchen we're allowed virtual stuff such as - calorie-free gateau/Champagne/ in fact all the naughty but nice things that some of us try so hard to resist. Our kitchen is virtually boundless. We can fit in as many Granspals who wish to join us. The coffee/tea pot is always freshly brewed. The biscuit barrel tops itself with bags's special bakes. The virtual Aga needs no attention. It's a cosy place. The cushions are plumped and the blankets (for around the knees) are cashmere and freshly laundered. Us lot never ever need to wash the dishes. We have a man to do it for us, if necessary.

Right! I logged on to forewarn you that my computer went into walk-about-mode an hour or so ago. It's inclined to do daft things without as much as a by your leave. Hence, if I should be missing for a time tomorrow, it will not be because I'm being lazy and forgetful and all the other stuff that I'm well know for. We almost phoned the local man in the village to come on in and fix the problem. For the time being we seem not to need his services.

soop; I've just emailed a 'local man' to fix my pooter.What frustrates me is that I'm sure what needs doing is quite straightforward but I don't know where to start. But a 'man at the end of a phone' combined with a little 'emergency fund' with which to pay him periodically may just preserve what little sanity I have remaining.......

Galen what about make up remover and face cream? You didn't mention them. I don't think you'll need the CoCo though, it will probably be to warm for a hot drink at night

Me too, Soutra...It sounds like a whole lot of fun going on in our kitchen. That's what I like about you lot...you are all my type of 'peoples...' as Torben likes to say.

When I was just fourteen my boyfriend gave me a bottle of Chanel number 5 and a pretty necklace for Christmas. He was such a shy young man. I was deeply touched by his thoughtful gesture.

Oh dear me, Galen...surely you can warm Mike up. Such a pity to leave him cold and comfortless. He sounds like such a nice guy.

Teetime I'm almost too scared to use my pooter. It's not at all reliable right now. It tells me that a page is unavailable when it surely is available. I get so cross. Lots of naughty words muttered when MacSporran isn't in the room. He thinks I'm a 'real lady'

Two informative booklets regarding MacS's type of leukaemia came from the hospital today. It seems that if he should require assistance attending the Vale of Leven hospital, it will be available. Red Cross transport regularly takes patients from Campbeltown to V of L for different forms of treatment. I know that MacS will wish to make his own way when possible. It's also comforting to know that assistance is available should he so wish.

Its a fair wee trundle from Kintyre to V of L. and the weather might be bad.

I understand your wish to be independant, but if there is other patients on board the Red X charabanc, he/you will have some other folks to share the experience with, and friends in the hospital.

jollyg and bags Yes, knowing that there is an alternative to driving oneself has helped MacS to reconsider what he may or may not wish to do. The booklets are excellent. The rash that resembled Chicken Pox/Shingles and made us wonder what on earth was happening to him, (way back in June,) is mentioned in the chapter re symptoms. MacS says that he does wish to get right down to whatever treatment is necessary. As bags knows, he was hedging his bets somewhat.

There is a wee bite in the wind today. The sky is overcast and the islands are hidden behind a grey veil. Rory helped MacS to wash the car. He sat within soaking distance but was canny enough to scarper and pretend to mouse-hunt when he realised that he was too close for comfort.

Galen...have you finished packing yet? Was there room for Mike? Decisions, decisions...

Galen tomorrow at the very latest the trunks and suitcases should be near the front door so that a retinue of staff can help the taxi driver fit them into his large car. Have a super time and enjoy your time with Bella and her DH.

soop I appreciate that MacSporran wants to make his own way to hospital, but let the bus take the strain, especially if the weather turns nasty.

I'm orf. Stuff to do. Weather permitting, an electrician will be fiddling with the outside lights and installing a better light fixture in the computer room. Should he do so...I shall not be accessible. I hope that the power is reconnected ASAP. I need my Gransnet fix. I can get awful touchy if I'm denied contact.

Look after each other should I be unable to call in for my usual treat of the day.

Who's going to do Mike's milkround when he's off cruising with Galen? . Perhaps Tegan's man can do it when he's not fixing her pooter

soop I know you are a couple of independent bods but I am pleased to hear you have the option of getting there under your own steam or should you not feel like the drive, as others have said, let the bus take the strain.

Bruce, the electrician, has just this minute arrived, together with a bulky bag of impressive looking tools. I persuaded him to take a comfy seat (Rory is sitting on the mat) and have a coffee (so that I may creep in and say hello.)
