I love cats but am living in a flat with balcony only so reluctantly do not have that regular experience of stroking a pussycat when I come home, and when we stretch out together on the sofa - purrrrr - purrrr- (mmm)

Rory has many friends all over the country but he loves his present abode, more so when MacSporran is at home.

onmyown Rory (the erstwhile fierce black cat) is most definitely Scottish. We (English folk who moved here from Cornwall) will sadly never have the right to claim to be a Scot. Although I was given a blood transfusion from a Scottish donor. Does that count just a weeny bit?

I've had a devil of a job accessing Gransnet all morning. I was also unable to contact the GN helpline. The air is blue. I sent an SOS text to bags and Elegran to tell them of my difficulties and mounting frustration. However, here I am, and now I need to read all the messages that have been added since I was last in residence. I shall return forthwith.

jollyg Do we ever get snow in Kintyre? In March, two years ago, our village was cut off for over a week. The snowfall was that bad even the snow plough couldn't operate! The power cables came down and we were without power for five days. Farmers lost many sheep. A book has been written and is for sale in the village shop. It contains the personal stories of a few of the villagers.
As for the tick bite, that was an awful experience for MacSporran he really was poorly for eight weeks. We have no idea what the problem was...it may have started with a bite and now that we know he has Non-Hodgkin lymphoma we understand that his immune system couldn't fight on all cylinders so to speak. We believe that the first part of MacS's treatment will be in the Vale of Levan hospital near Glasgow. We shall have confirmation mid December.
As for you and the other new mums laughing so much it made your stitches hurt...after I'd had a hernia repair, the lady in the best next to mine was that funny we also laughed until it appeared (to the nurses) that we were crying. I had to curl up in a tight ball, clutching my side. When asked if we were okay we couldn't reply for laughing. That is a good memory of mine.

Agus Gee wiz and all that. I'm really rather proud to be a born-again Scot. You've made my day.

jollyg This will be our eleventh Christmas in Scotland. We had a number of false starts but eventually built our wee home on a plot of land in our neighbour's garden. From the day we arrived we have not a single regret. This is where we belong.

Onmyown, I could be wrong (and frequently am) but the last time I remember Angus being mentioned in the kitchen he was a virtual dog (rescued by rosequartz if I remember correctly and allowed into the kitchen but only if Rory agreed), so if he does turn out to be a real black cat I had better book myself an appointment for a memory check at the doctors

soop, Vale of Leven, at the southern end of Loch Lomond, is also a bit of a trek from Kintyre. I hope the winter weather will be kind to you. teetime, I'm so sorry to hear about your GD's affliction which sounds as if it is painful. Your poor family has bad luck, rheumatically speaking. Let's hope the rheumatologist can sort out her problem. Galen also send my best wishes to Bellasnana and have fun on your cruise. I won't say, 'behave yourself' because I know that would be pointless! soop, I have had an English blood transfusion, but then, I'm 25% English anyway.

Teetime I am sorry to hear of your worries. I only have experience of DD 3 being diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis about 2 1/2 years ago shortly before her wedding and I cried all night! However she has been lucky and was accepted on a drugs trial at a London hospital to lower her immune system as PA like many of DG's health issues relates to the immune system as I imagine does Lupus? Happy to say the Psoriasis cleared up completely and the joint pain has also now reduced to the point she can go on long cycle runs, walk and cope with long distance flights (China/Hong Kong) for work. The downside is no babies during the 5 year trial and a 4 month "wash out" period when she comes off before trying but it is worth it to see her pain free. There is of course a list of possible side effects as long as your arm but we prefer not to go there. I don't remember the drug but it ends in "-uximab" and is I think a monoclonal antibody (?) like the Rituximab DH was given some years ago.
I wish your DD2 well with her treatment and wish you some well-deserved peace of mind in all that is wearing you down at present.
