I have just been listening to DH chatting in the kitchen and I assumed he was on the phone! Nope, he was having a chat with Poppy Cat who is equally vocal. Oh, we have lost the plot in,this house

I lost my temper with DH once when I was pregnant with DD1', I threw an egg at him and the beggar caught it!

Well, I have lost my temper with him more than once over the years but that was the only time I threw anything

Well aren't I feeling like a regular now ( smug ) I do belive this will be my third kitchen move! I am tempted to dash around packing everything in sight but I now know, as if by magic, our kitchen will manage to move itself without a problem. I'm with you Soop I think the kitchen is vey special. The more time I spend on GN the more special the kitchen becomes. A safe haven for us all (except when Galen gets cross ). ..glad MacS is behaving himself!

Never thrown anything at DH apart from myself. Thank goodness he caught me!

Re the kitchen move, we all just twitch our nose, 'Samantha' style, et voila, a new kitchen appears and all we have to do is turn up.

This feels to me like one of the quickest threads we have had.

Agus, I`ve thrown many things at my hubby over the years. I once threw an egg, I thought it was hard boiled, I missed him, it hit the rug, and I found out it wasn`t hard boiled after all, and it was me had to clean it up! I`ve also thrown knives and forks, kept missing, consequently lots of bits chipped out of walls.

My late DH soon learned of he stood still he was safe!

Agus I am certain that it is the quickest thread that we have had. That poor, maligned DH of yours- he obviously likes Poppy Cat's company.

Ha, Charleygirl it's Poppy Cat who has managed to ensure DH sees to her every need and if he doesn't move quickly enough, she starts shouting!

I think we should be more worried about the treatment Mr Galen had to endure. Poor soul wasn't even allowed to move!

Not being able to throw straight DH has survived relatively unscathed.... I did once throw a plate of food at him ( many years ago) but he ducked and the plate smashed against the wall, splattering gravy everywhere......took ages to clean up mess so never did it again

The worst I have done was years ago at a dinner party at DSiL/OBiL's house. My obnoxious BiL, DH's brother whom we thankfully no longer see, made one too many nasty derogative remarks aimed at me and before I realised what I was doing, I poured the contents of my glass of red wine over his head.

Thinking of my dear SiL I went into the kitchen for a cloth where I found her laughing and she gave me a hug saying the mess was worth it!

Unsurprisingly, they are now divorced.

As we were packing to go away, DH was chuntering about how long it was taking me to pack for 3 under 4s and for myself as he had done his quite quickly! I threw the first thing to hand which was a Scholl sandal, he moved and it broke the glass door panel! We put cardboard up at the missing pane and went away for 2 weeks. Those were the days!!

Oh goodness gracious me...I'm guffawing at all the above confessions. you lot are so funny.

So, here we are again. 'Tis the last day of the year and isn't really doesn't seem that long ago since we moved into our kitchen. I think that (for me) it is the most comforting refuge. We laugh and we sometimes cry. We get bolshie (not with each other) and let of pent-up steam. I LOVE you lot and that is a fact.

I shall return. After all...we'll be opening the new kitchen sometime soon. There will be a bottle of Champagne cooling.

Bella is in my thoughts. I'm also hoping that bags will call by. The more the merrier!

I've just finished cooking and glazing a ham which I'll take to DD's house this afternoon for her Hogmanay party this evening. Not that I'm staying for the party, I can't wait to get back to my corner of the sofa and cozy up under the beautiful cable knit throw which was a christmas gift from DD. I'm rather woozy with the cocktail of drugs my GP prescribed for my back pain so the sofa is the best place for me.

Have a virtual ham for the table, it looks delicious, studded with cloves and glazed with honey and whole grain Arran mustard. There's a large chunk of christmas cake leftover too so do help yourselves. It is quite yummy if I may say so, made to Grandmanorm's recipe.

Just the thought of a Hogmanay party exhausts me nowadays. The ham sounds delicious and I will certainly be sampling a good portion before the bells.

Snuggling up in the corner of the sofa sounds blissful and I will be doing the same. Hope you are getting some respite from the pain baubles

I'm off soon to wander the lanes to bring back hedgerow cuttings for the table. Cooking for 10 friends this evening. A New Year lifts my spirits in a way that all the razzmatazz of Christmas does not.

Bought some candles in that I hope someone will light when it gets dark. Wishing all GN-ers all manner of good things for this coming New Year.

I'm so sorry to hear that the pain is continuing to be a nuisance Baubles. What is causing it? You must keep warm and relax this evening. The cable knit rug sounds just perfect for snuggling under.

Agus We shall be lighting the fire, eating Cottage Pie followed by whisky-laced cake and a coffee. At midnight, should we remain awake, we'll raise a glass of very special malt whisky...Jura Superstition, a gift from Matt to John.

Pals next door will also be staying at home this year. We had an early afternoon party with them on Monday.

I can remember queuing on a bitterly cold night outside Franklin's Gardens Salon-de-Dance when in my teens. I had a steel grey/blue satin dress specially made for the New Year do. I'd also had my hair coloured ( flame red) at the John London hairdressing salon. It cost almost a weeks wages. I thought at the time that I was the bee's knees.

Tonight, I shall cosy up beside *MacSporran and Rory and happily stay at home.

I meant to add that the accessories worn with the slate blue dress were cyclamen pink. Wow! I bopped away until the early hours and it was magic!
