Duvet Days? Who's going to own up?

harri I've had no luck finding one and I have been looking on and off for 22 yrs

I am in the middle of one now sitting in my pjs having had breakfast in bed. I always have a day like this after a weekend of babysitting.
Quick query, does anyone know where the battery compartment is located on GC ? I need to be able to remove the batteries at certain times.

Duvet days for me are usually on a Thursday only because I am getting over the shopping the day before and DGs do not need picking up,no housework to be done and no one due to visit,so I get myself up shower and put on some nice pjs grab my comfort cushion and place myself on sofa with newspapers tv remote glass of juice and some munchies switch off the phone and away we go bliss (takeaway for teatime via mr.g.)

I couldn't have a duvet day today because I was out in John Lewis buying a duvet.

Chose duck down because it was cheaper than goose down but now I wish I'd gone for goose.

crimson not slovenly! No it is a self-rewarding day, we deserve it as often as we feel like it. Think of all we have done for others over the years, now its time to reward ourselves.

I always wash etc but then just do what I feel like each day but never put make-up on unless I go out and then not much.

I think I have 'do what I like days' which is pretty much every day for me as we gave up trying to please others when we retired and now please ourselves, be it gardening, housework, excercise, doing things for the family/others etc. Retirement is great

I am not comfortable until I have had a bath, cleaned my teeth,brushed my hair and got dressed, even though I could lie around all day if I wanted. I haven't worn any make-up for over ten years and I know nobody is going to knock at my door, but I just feel better once I am prepared for the day.

Yes, I have the occasional duvet day, but oh the guilt. Yes guilt not quilt. I only have myself to answer too but I suppose it must be centuries of welsh non-conformism work ethic bred in to me.

Must try harder. No that's not right. Must............or is it musn't............Oh what the hell. I am actually quite a contented person so I'll just carry on regardless.

After fifteen years of mainly working from home I find it hard to switch off completely and relax for even an hour at home. A whole day! No way. The task list always looms. That is not to say I am always using my time productively or that I have a tidy house.

No need for the jeans, crimson. Pyjama Days are just as acceptable as Duvet Days. My 86 year old godmother has PJ days at least twice a week and revels in regular orgies of self-indulgence.

Ha ha; yes there should be tog ratings for each level of slovenliness! Top score would be a day of not getting out of bed at all etc etc. I do usually get dressed at some point during the day even though it just means replacing the pyjama bottoms with jeans.

I think I live in duvetland too, though I hadn't noticed. I think I might need another name for days when I can't be bothered to cook or wear make-up. Actually, I don't own any make-up, and I call duvets "downies" because that's what the people called them who lived in the house where I first slept under one (a Norwegian one, no less) in 1975.

I always get dressed though, so I wouldn't qualify for the duvet tag. [Do I mean tog?]

If a duvet day is a day of not wearing make up, cooking or getting dressed then every day is a duvet day for me [except when I'm at work, and even then the only difference is that I do actually get dressed, but still don't bother with the cooking, make up etc]. Not sure what happened to the me that would never leave the house without make up .

You can bet your life the minute I decide to have a duvet day there will be an emergency in our household for some reason or the kids will turn up out of the blue. I've just been in Cardiff for a conference and though it was a lot of effort and tiring the hotel looked after me superbly. To me that was a 'duvet evening'. Bath, lovely meal, cosy bed and peace and tranquility aaaaaaaaaah

Of course. An eiderdown day would be fine. Or, on a hot day, a feather day. There are no rules.

Can I have a Duvet day when I haven't a duvet?

Duvet days should be made compulsory...at least you have had a swim jack, my duvet day conSist os just that sitting and hiding under the duvet with a book and something to comfort eat..normally crisps...or a slob out day consist of shower,no make up and pj,s, it is has to be done ...it's rude not to....
