Today I have had a hug with Linda Nolan (work with Breast Cancer Campaign) and brushed shoulders with Terry Wogan. Another story...And eaten and drunk far too much! Yes, at a conference. Night night. wine

Jeni barmbrack and tea brack/bread are not necessarily the same thing. Is your recipe the one that soaks everything in cold tea overnight and then add flour etc. etc.? It is delicious, paritcularly buttered but barmbrack has a slightly different taste. If you are near a Tesco they sell 'brack' usually alongside the Irish soda bread and farls. It is rather tasty. My Irish upbringing is showing! wink

Well, here I am, all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed grin Kept bagitha updated with goings-on on our patch. Bomb Disposal squad arrived early evening. Such excitement rarely seen in peaceful Kintyre. Our phone was red hot from 'Wow! What's going on...?' calls. An exceedingly loud explosion ripped J's socks off...and, as bagitha explained, did little for my knicker elastic grin All now calm on the western front. A beautiful day. A decent walk through the leafy lane. A terrific forum to log on to. Photo taken through our window...shortly before the boom!

Welcome back, dear Gally sunshine

jeni Sun 15-Apr-12 12:45:12

mrshat. Yes it's the one where you soak mixed fruit and brown sugar and tea and then add egg and flour!

glassortwo Sun 15-Apr-12 12:55:33

I have had a lazy morning just pottering around not doing much at all, and still in my Pjs shock but all good things must come to an end wink

Butternut Sun 15-Apr-12 14:06:35

glass - Pj's and Sunday mornings seem to go together don't they. For some reason (the grub again) I found myself scrubbing the kitchen floor still wearing them.shock Still, the long hot shower was worth the wait and my kindest man produced crusty seed bread and asparagus for lunch. sunshine

granjura Sun 15-Apr-12 14:11:28

You must be so excited Gally- wonderful.

.. done very little today as the weather is dreadful up in t'mountains!

Greatnan Sun 15-Apr-12 14:25:04

Grey and misty this side of the Lake too. I am giving myself a day off after two very steep long walks. Radio 4, jigsaw, surfing, Private Eye, sudoku, and Bill Bryson (At Home).

nanachrissy Sun 15-Apr-12 16:46:05

Soop that looks a bit too close for comfort!! shock

GoldenGran Sun 15-Apr-12 17:08:58

Welcome back Gally sunshine
Much too close, glad you are safe SOOPshock

SOOP Sun 15-Apr-12 17:20:19

nanachrissy We had offers of a bed for the night should we have been evacuated. Isn't it reassuring to know that, although we live outside the village, a wee army of kindly Scots were prepared to offer assistance. Gracesmum...now I get it! The canny villagers had misunderstood - the word had got around that it was a suspicious keg of high octane spirit hmm

Ariadne Sun 15-Apr-12 17:40:11

Hi Gally! xxx

Gally Sun 15-Apr-12 17:45:27

Hi Ariadne!!

Oldgreymare Sun 15-Apr-12 18:36:06

Butternut, I too like to do a few chores, wearing pjs, before showering. I also put washing out on the line, again wearing pjs and a dg (being Spring, my short fleecy jacket). We live in a close, AND the neighbours do not baulk at the spectacle. We have had the family to stay over Easter so there was much washing to go out and my neighbour said I could use her line, so off I trotted. Today I got my come-uppance! My neighbour forgot to tell me she had visitors who were highly amused to see a pyjama-clad 'vision' in the garden, pegging out!

Oldgreymare Sun 15-Apr-12 19:00:50

Gosh.... after posting the above I decided to see what I had missed, and read through several 'pages' of posts. Such a lot to catching up needed. Do hope you are getting over traumas and illnesses (and big bangs!) Love and (((hugs))) to all.

glassortwo Sun 15-Apr-12 19:37:49

butter I do all sorts in my Pj's if I can get away with it grin

yogagran Sun 15-Apr-12 19:47:18

Hi folks. I have been
Feeling still ill. Very little change, antibiotics end tonight. Feel cold.

Waiting for my gardener man to come 10am....still waiting 11 am...I remember to turn on my phone, and he's at the JR hospital with his wife who may have broken her arm......no updates yet.

Sticking half my washing on the line and hoping it will dry while putting the rest on the heaters - but I don't like having it hanging around the house.

Ringing the people who sent me two unsatisfactory halogen heaters, to say (sob, sob) I have been ill and although I packed them up to return, I haven't been able to....all perfectly true.
I hate doing complaints! But I am waiting for a call back and they mentioned they could collect!

So far, swings and roundabouts......

jeni Mon 16-Apr-12 14:47:35

Go back to the quack! This has gone on too long!

Oxon70 Mon 16-Apr-12 14:51:57

Yes. I will see how I am in the next two days without the antibiotic - then can see doctor at the end of the week.

glassortwo Mon 16-Apr-12 15:45:21

Oxon you need to get back to the Drs, listen to jeni wink.. seriously you should have had some improvement by now, sooner you go back the sooner you will be sorted flowers

SOOP Mon 16-Apr-12 16:29:52
