I am overwhelmed by all your kind wishes -so many -.

We were on holiday in France, Staying in the gite we had 'adopted' since we sold our house there. We were all so happy to be back in France after 15 months absence, but DH especially so. We had a lovely day then he had a cardiac arrest in the early hours of the next day. If he had to go, it could not have been better for him,

Back home now and down to earth to deal with all the arrangements and paper work that inevitably follow a death.

Hope to be back sometime soon.

Rosie51 Sun 04-Oct-26 22:44:47

Oh M0nica how bittersweet for you. I hope you do get comfort from knowing your DH died where he was so happy. A terrible shock for you though. Take care of yourself, your arrangements will be even more complicated than most of us would have, and could be especially tiring. I hope you have plenty of practical as well as emotional support. x

Sorry for your loss. Thinking of you.

It will be some comfort that DH was in his 'happy place'...

The tumult of emotions that follow - the shock, the grief, and the dawning realisation that your life will never be quite the same again, can be overwhelming. Especially when there is so much practical stuff to deal with at the same time.

I hope you have the support you need from family - and friends. Take it, and allow yourself the space to grieve the while.

You are in my thoughts MOnica - frequently.

Calendargirl Mon 05-Oct-26 06:38:46

What a shock MOnica, but the fact he died after spending a good day in a favourite place will prove to be a comfort in the sad days ahead.

So many of us have been keeping you in our thoughts.

I agree with the sentiment shown M0nica your DH had a lovely day and quietly slipped away after enjoying doing what he loved and being with you ina very happy place for you both.
I know you will be very comforted by this when all the shock and trauma have lessened.

You will be very busy and overwhelmed in the coming days ,weeks and months but we shall be happy to see you back with us with your wisdom and reasoned posts when you are ready.flowers

What a mix of a tiny piece of happiness amongst all your sadness M0nica. I'm pleased your husband had many smiles on his last days in his happy place. Take care of youself.
Should you need any on the spot unofficial translating, just send me an email and I'll get straight back.

So sorry. Just hold on and go on until the enormity of it has sunk in and some kind of adjustment can take place. Time is a slow burner but meanwhile take any comfort from family and friends. God bless.
