What was the first record you ever bought?

I bought Adam Faith singing "What do you want if you don't want money?" in 1959 when I was 11. I don't have any idea how much it cost. I also bought his 2nd release "Poor Me"

Mine was Tears of a clown by Smokie Robinson. Just googled the year it was 1967 so I’d be 10 . Can’t remember how much it cost but I know where I bought it. A record stall in our local indoor market where everyone got the records from.

The first album I bought was ‘A Meal You Can Shake Hands With In The Dark’ by Pete Brown and the Battered Ornaments. My favourite track was ‘Sandcastle’. I think it was 1969 and I was 16.

I can't remember how much it cost but it was the first record I bought with my own money. I was 12/13 and the year was 1969.

The first ones I remember buying were the music for the ballet La Fille Mal Gardée, and highlights from Britten’s opera Peter Grimes, both performances I had seen when I was a student in London.. They were LPs. About 1963. I was in my early twenties. Before that, records were not my priority if I had any money.

The first (and only) pop-type record I bought was the Beatles Penny Lane in the mid-1960s. I was never very interested in pop music, though I liked some songs I heard on the radio - just not enough to buy recordings!

I feel fine by The Beatles, 1964 5s 6d in the NAAFI in Berlin.

Neatly everyone I've known has a copy of 'Dark side of the moon'.

I was 17, didn`t even have a record player, but I bought the Woolworths cover version of Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, I think the singer was Paul Rich. I`ve still got the record upstairs, after 61 years. Oh, I had to play it at my friend`s house.
