Using Gransnet - crossings out

I use it, when I am writing a tongue in cheek comment. If you type, -- with no spaces at the beginning and end of a word, it will strike through the word.

-- strike through --
strike through no spaces.

I still can’t quite see why you would need to do that though. If you don’t like what you have written, why not just delete it? I am getting confused!

How do people find these gems of info out? I have been on here for ages and didn’t know that.

Oops! Forget that! I have just seen the bit at the bottom that explains about the crossings out. It was extra kind of you to help when the info was under my nose all the time. I hadn’t bothered reading it before.

I have tried to find an example of something I wrote.
This was on the Granny Escort thread.

However, I was once popositioned by an older gentleman, in an expensive fur coat and wearing a cossack like fur hat, on a Berlin underground station platform. He was obviously very wealthy.

The strike through comment was made as an aside. It doesn't make sense written out of context, Crossstichnan. 🤣

I don’t think it’s you crazyH as I have never been able to achieve it either!

I use an I pad, and whatever I do, it just doesn’t seem to work.

No, you’re not thick!

The double dash is fiddly to do on a phone, as they just merge together, —, and the crossing out doesn’t work.

You have to type one dash, then backspace and type another in front of it, --. Then make sure you don’t leave a space between the double dash and the words you’re wanting to cross through. I can’t remember who it was who told us that on GN many years ago when some of us couldn’t work it out, but it stuck with me.

Sorry, I knew my post wouldn’t be clear! You can’t backspace as such, I’ve worded that badly. Just put your cursor before the dash you’ve typed. Or tap before the dash if it’s a touch screen.
