Of course it could just be a bad dream.

I had a feeling of a heavy weight on my chest a few years ago while abroad. It went away but returned the following day.
I was concerned and went to the doctor's I was sent to the local hospital for a checkup. I was told I had to stay in and put on a ward. I had every test possible and a scan as they thought I had a punctured lung. It turned out I was ok and sent home two days later.
If you are worried ring your surgery.

I had this a lot several years ago during a period of high anxiety. Eventually I asked a doctor who said it can be a sign of stress and anxiety.
But I think you need to ask a professional.

I was reluctant as I have recently had a treadmill test and echocardiogram as I have a slight mitral valve problem. The consultant spoke to me afterwards and is very content with the results.
I didnt want to seem to be making a fuss about nothing.

You won’t be making a fuss about nothing nadateturbe, I think your doctor would want to be involved. You could make a phone appointment first and tell him/her about this episode, and then they’ll tell you if they want you to go into the surgery.

My partner has Angina and it’s pain, not heaviness. The pain is a warning from the heart that it’s in distress and pain can be referred from the heart to almost anywhere in the body. My partner gets it in his jaw and sometimes he has been literally rolling around in pain if he doesn’t get to his glycerine spray before it really takes hold. If you didn’t have the heaviness when you woke up I would guess that it was just a bad dream, but it’s not a bad idea to get it checked out to see if there’s another cause - anxiety springs to mind as it can manifest in bad dreams. Are you excessively worried about anything ?

I would guess because it takes so long to see a doctor, that somewhere like GN can provide advice based on experience. Not suggesting that it’s a substitute for proper medical advice, but in the meantime it might provide a pointer as to the possible problem.

It seemed more like I was having the dream because of the heaviness. But I don't know for sure.
I was a bit anxious... who isn't these days.?. And my daughter had just told me she was feeling ill, one of my GS was in bed two days with a temperature and she had to drag herself out of bed to fetch the other GS from school She lives in England and I was worried.
But I will ring in the morning. I'm sure my doctor will immediately think I'm a hypochondriac. But I'll just have to cope with that.

I think that strange sensation (the 'night hag') is fairly common. Still, I'd have a check up with your GP asap - just in case:

If you tell the GP it was "chest pain" they should see you ASAP, hopefully the same day as the call
It's a Red Flag condition.
Please get it checked out, sure its okay.

I have read somewhere, I cannot find where, that the feeling you have is to do with how the body reacts when you are asleep and how you wake. Some people have woken up feeling momentarily paralysed, but it has gone as soon as they properly wake. I'm keeping that in mind. Same thing started to happen in the early hours and I jerked myself awake before the pressure started. Weird.
But I'll wait until Monday. Friday is not a good day to ring our GP.

I just think Monday is better to ring. Our doctors are extra busy on Friday for some reason. I think I might not be considered urgent enough for a call today.

You’re probably right - nothing much will happen on a Friday and the weekend.
