Large shrub i need to prune but I'm not sure when to do it. I think its evergreen with tiny red flowers.

Think it's an escallonia, but I would need to look up when to prune it.

Yes, looks like Escallonia - we have a large, unruly one! I tend to just hack at it, as and when. I think you’re meant to prune after flowering?

Agree Escallonia. You can hack it any way you like. It's indestructible and will grow back no bother.

Prune after flowering... or anytime it gets in the way...
Recovers with great determination when chopped back hard and this also rejuvenates any bald patches on older stems!!

Thanks everyone I have hacked it back on occasion but thought I’d do it as per gardening calendar this time. I’ll look it up thanks again.
