Good Morning Sunday 6th September 2026

Good morning from Malta where it is still dark but we are promised a sunny day with a high of 37°C.

Had a lovely day out wth my pal yesterday. We had a leisurely stroll around the shops, bought a couple of things to wear if it ever gets cold and stopped a couple of times for coffee.

It was after 2pm by the time she dropped me off at home, via a very convoluted route as most of the roads in our village are closed off for the annual festa celebrations and activities.

I made myself an M&S toasted tea cake (which was on offer at half price) then promptly fell asleep until 5.30!

Watched quite a lot of tennis. Some exciting matches with a few surprising results.

I really must do some laundry and cleaning today (my grandmother would be horrified as it’s Sunday) then I’m having my treasures for a sleepover. I’m hoping they will go to bed before Alcaraz’s match starts tonight!

Hoping Grandmabatty will see someone about that pain. My daughter had to have her gall bladder removed as an emergency as she had ignored the pain for too long.

Good morning from a clear Bristol.
I have uncharacteristically only just woken up! I was very tired after yesterday’s goings on.
First thing, as I was getting ready to go to various shops by bus, a friend turned up with a plug for me. He kindly changed it; the earth nipple/whatever had broken and I couldn’t use my standard lamp.
A rush to sort myself up for the bus to get my glasses straightened and a few bits and pieces; a second bus back to Waitrose, where I needed to add tokens for Flamingo Chicks to win this month’s £1500. Iris has and still is benefitting from their activities. Sadly, I think it’s going to the local dementia charity.
Straight on to church where I had a nice little sit down and chat, after sorting out the jams - note to self, I need more regular marmalade.
Straight home for a mini rest, quick lunch and off to the other village for the annual show. The WA had a stall - jewellery, books, jigsaws. I stayed for two hours then came home to finish the mincemeat - 21 pots, which then needed washing, and labelling today.
I was just sitting down to eat when SiL turned up with my new microwave oven. The other has started to shed “ceiling” paint all over my food; not a good idea.

Posted too soon.
I finally sat down to eat and watch the box. Went to bed early and slept an unheard of 7 hours. My normal night is about 5.
I hope bellas that this final Saharan heatwave ends soon, that gmb is in less pain, that madeleine’s cellulitis gets improved treatment, and that the others I have missed are better.

Good morning from Hereford
We are moving on today to Haverfordwest

We have had a lovely time in Hereford. The cider museum was especially interesting
Yesterday we went to Builth Wells. A huge antique fair at the Welsh showground, to say how big it was I bought very little.
I have to be very selective these days trying to cut down on my clutter.

We will stop off somewhere on the way. Maybe Trago Mills in Merthyr Tydfil. When the children were young we used to go to Trago Mills in Cornwall . If you’ve never been it’s a weird and wonderful place Our kids loved it, as I did too. It was like a treasure trove of everything you may need and lots of what you didn’t too. An eccentric man owned it then. He was very forthcoming in his political attitudes and made it known to his customers what they were. I do miss these individual shops with their own personalities. Everything is the same now.

My friend from the flat above is joining me for the early service today then I shall catch up with phone calls and jobs at home.

Yesterday was a lost day. I did a quick tesco delivery for bread and milk and spent most of the day lying down. The pain was fairly intense at times. Thank you all for your very supportive posts and messages.
This morning the stabbing pain has gone so that's an improvement. I'm waiting for a scan appointment so that's the next step. As I'm feeling a bit better, I will head to Aldi for food later. I have washings to do too. But I will take things slowly. I hope Madeleine is ok. Have a good day all.

Good morning from s somerset and it looks as though we are going to have a lovely sunny day

Yesterday disappeared, its the little things like bed changing, tip run, some cleaning, opening of boxes, cleaning my sewing room and machines etc. Nothing onerous but the day does disappear. I am in process of making more stylearc Maddison tops, some out and new ones in. Cutting fabric can become back-breaking, which is what happened yesterday

I set my washing machine to be finished by 6am and have hung a large cotton wash outside. It was a long wash at 40, I don`t have patience nor time for that during the day. My bike is prepped and ready for my long cycle ride by 9, when the sun should make an appearance

The air outside smells of fungus and mould, very autumnal and even big trees are changing colour early, they have been very stressed and want to be to be rid of their leaves

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Murky this morning in South Yorkshire. Rain is expected I think.

Melanie one of DH’s aunts lived in Builth Wells. He had various relatives dotted about the Brecon area. Happy travels down to Pembrokeshire which always holds a piece of my heart.

Yesterday I did laundry and gave the front lawn a cut and strim. I wheeled the cordless mower round to the “no man’s land” behind the garden wall, which I am seemingly responsible for cutting🙄, to see how it would cope. It was doing very well - then the battery ran out😂!

DS is coming down to spend the day with me. I’ve booked a table at a pub in the village for lunch. I hope it will be dry enough for a walk before he goes back to York.

Good Morning everyone from a cool start here on the central south coast. We are forecast a sunny day with 23 degrees. Being near the sea means we seldom suffer the heatwaves further inland.

I have started taking high strength vitamin D again as autumn starts its progress towards us. I am hoping it may help my painful upper arms and shoulders, which continue to be troublesome and very inhibiting.

Thoughts are with Grandmabatty as she recovers from her fall, with Madeleine and the dratted cellulitis, and with all others coping with health issues of any sort.

Good morning, it’s definitely a cool start to Sunday here on the hillside in south Glos.
I had a lovely time out with my friend yesterday, a trip to a different garden centre where of course I just had to buy some plants. Many of the plants were reduced so I’m very happy with my selection!
We had lunch sitting outside in the mellow sunshine, a real treat. I don’t remember the last time I had such a lovely day out.
I didn’t do much for the rest of the day, I’ll catch up with chores etc today. I need to deadhead the roses which are still growing strongly and full of buds.
Chicken salad for dinner with new potatoes I think, something simple.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It feels warm - the temperature should reach 25, but there has been rain overnight.

Elder son and granddaughter will head back to Kew before lunch. OH will extract the honey from his hives today. He had more than he thought.

I may do a bit more hand quilting.

We are off to Italy on Thursday so need to think about what I’m taking. We have the cats sorted out and I’ve cancelled the papers. It is a friend’s 90th on Wednesday so I will be popping round for her ‘at home’. There is a very interesting Local History Society talk on Wednesday evening so I might go to that.

Good morning from Stockport.
Yesterday was also a lost day for me. I was incredibly tired and after my morning tea I went back to sleep and didn’t wake until midday.
I got up , still in my nightie, had some breakfast and then went back to bed.
I got up and dressed sometime, I really don’t know when , later I made myself a sandwich, read a little and dame to bed before 8 , and slept for several hours.
Today I feel more rested but need to get up and going to see just how recovered I am.

Grandmabatty I am pleased you are now in the system, my D ignored her symptoms until she collapsed with the intense pain and was whisked off to hospital.
Her gallbladder was infected and couldn’t be removed by keyhole surgery so her recovery was longer.

It appears to be dry although rain is forecast, I shall have my usual quiet day and I hope yours is similarly peaceful.

Good morning from a dull northwest coast. Another quiet day yesterday. A walk in the local sandhills, new music to ponder on and I’m enjoying old Plays for Today and other delights on Classic British Telly on YouTube.

DD drives up from the south tonight and we will leave for Greece on Tuesday at an unearthly hour. Other members of the family will travel from various airports. My self tanning is coming on nicely and it’s going to be hot.

Morning from a cloudy S Hants, 24 due later, washing will be on later when we have an hour of free electricity.
Yesterday MrJ cut the spindly stalks of ‘grass’ most of it was strimmed, we need a lot more rain yet.
Today I’ve cleaning to do this morning and exercising, I’m trying to do more each day.
I do hope the gb attack has finished gbatty and that leg of Melanie’s has improved.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Broken cloud this morning and a warm sunny day is forecast.
I realised this morning that I left work 20 years ago today, a few months before my 60th birthday! Where have those years gone?
Both DDs and families came over yesterday morning, fitting me in amongst their children’s weekend activities. It was good to see them all and the dog, chaotic and noisy, but good!
Today will be quiet, the gardener has said he’ll come this afternoon to carry on tidying my garden. The small prickly tree growing at the end of my garden is actually a blackthorn and has no place in a domestic garden!

grandmabatty I’m pleased your pain has eased this morning, have a quiet day if possible.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's windy but dry. I slept badly.

I hope today is quieter. Yesterday was exhausting. One visitor left after breakfast and another, a cousin arrived at 8pm so we ate late and talked mainly about family history until very late.

Today is the final day of my pottery and book sale. It's been busy with a lot of sales and friendly chats and yet there is so much more to go as my house moving date gets closer.

DD is coming this afternoon with a trailer to collect various items of furniture she's taking.

DGS set off to begin university yesterday. I hope it goes well.

Good morning everyone from Lancashire. I've missed a couple of mornings because it's been hectic here and I haven't wanted to seem engrossed by my phone in front of my guest.

We had a day out at Boundary Mill on Friday. All the autumn clothes are on display. I got some new trousers and a polo shirt to put away for DH's birthday. My friend got a knitted hoodie so it was worth the journey.

Yesterday was the final day of the Jigsaw Festival. DH kept the little chap at home while my friend and I escaped out on our own for a couple of hours. It was busy right up until closing time so I think we'll have beaten our previous takings. The money is split between us and the other church and helps to keep us open and present in the community through the year.

My friend travels home today so later I'll be changing bedlinen and doing a tidy up.

This afternoon one of my college friends and her husband are coming to see us. They are very chilled company and adore the little chap. I'm hoping it will be nice enough to sit out in the garden.

Hoping those who are struggling with ill health have a better day.

What a sleepy day you had, Usedtobeblonde. You must have needed it! If I feel a bit 'uugh' I just need to sleep and sleep and I find it helps me feel better.

I have just woken up, mind you I was awake for a couple of hours in the middle of the night. I think it is going to be mild and sunny here today, but we have nothing planned other than roast pork for dinner tonight.

The 11yr old starts senior school tomorrow, not sure who is more nervous, him, me or his parents. It only seems like yesterday I was in the delivery room waiting for his appearance.

Beautiful late summer morning so am up and about early for me. Will go for a paper and enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then decide how to fill the day - no local church service and no visitors expected but something will crop up, perhaps a little gentle weeding,

Thoughts to all having a difficult time and hoping the day brings some joy.

Good morning Michael and all GN's from a sunny and slightly breezy morning in North Yorkshire. Well are you sitting comfortably? Then I shall begin the saga of yesterday. It will be in several bits ,as I still dont trust the wretched thing not to disappear into the ether, just when I have written lots. I have been awake for ages but oh dear, I was in need of the human version of "WD40 and the nearest to that is the shower, which on days like this have to be much longer than normal, where it is being used as a way of loosening up, rather than just to get clean.

Well much to tell, but I first want to remember 60 years ago and the terrible Aberfan disaster. The memory of that day may fade into the background over the years, but I cannot forget the dreadful day, the feeling of wanting to get straight in the car and go and help, but knowing I could do nothing useful. The pictures of everyone working so hard to try and rescue children. The miners who were doing the job they knew best but with such urgency, and desperate for a chance to save a child. Watching them working nonstop and until they were ready to drop, and their place being taken by the next man. It is as real to me today as it was then. Everyone did what they could, but you felt that there was so little you could do. Later we gave concerts and raised money and did whatever we were able to do, and in every concert at one point we would sing Mfanwy and the tears would pour down as we sang. God bless them all, and especially those children who survived, but have lived with the knowledge of that day, and have told us how they remained affected by this all their lives. That they didnt know why they survived and sisters brothers and friends did not. Those dearly loved who have not grown old , but whose memory is still that promise of playing together at play time, getting the skipping ropes out, which were never used. In all the many tragedies, both large and small that I recall, the Aberfan remains one of the most vivid in my memory. I can feel now that first moment that the news was broadcast, the sick feeling and sorrow. So today we pray for all of those people , those who died, and those who have had the burden of surviving and learning how to live with this knowledge, and that always wondering why they survived and their classmates in the next desks didnt. May they have found some peace and that we remember to kiss our family as they leave home, so that they take our love with them, whatever the day may bring. May we all remember that however annoying or upsetting our family is , that at the bottom is love for each other. May you all have a blessed sunday and treasure every moment.
