Good Morning Tuesday 1st September 2026

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still dark but we are set to have a dry day.
Yesterday I had a long lie in and then got up and did nothing much. My legs were telling me they didn’t like my long jaunt of the day before! Then my back joined in for good measure. This morning they have settled down.

I also had a panic last night when my fridge seemed to have given up the ghost and things were defrosting at a rate of knots! After much fiddling about, and shutting it down for a while, it came back to life, but I shall be looking for a new one soon. Problem is there is only one space in my kitchen it can go and very few fridges will fit into it.

I think a trip out and a walk is on the cards today. Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from Torbay where it’s still dark and due to be dry all day.

Last night I found myself dining at the home of my ex husband and his wife along with my son and grandson who are staying with them at the moment. They laid on a beautiful Indian meal, which I enjoyed, although I am not generally a fan of curries unless they are very mild. It was kind of them to invite me as it gave me more time with my family, but I wish DH had been here as he so enjoys Indian food!!

Good morning from s somerset, feeling autumnal, cooler, cloudy and quite bright

Indoors all day yesterday, I cannot be doing that too often but it was showery all day. Did a lot of knitting and some sewing but not enough exercise, thank goodness for stairs

I think I will do a little sewing again today as my dress looks promising, I will put the neck facing on next and am thinking I will re-print the pattern all in the one size, so there is no fiddling with bodice size, dart altering and grading. It is a bit vintage style and I will do the big try-on this evening and then decide

I too need to be out today, even if just a walk

Good morning everyone from a still dark Lancashire and belated happy birthday wishes to Gagagran. 🎂🥂

Yesterday morning turned out very showery so we decided to go to the Trafford Centre instead of Bury.
We had a good lunch in Est and then did a bit of shopping. I got a jumper from Hobbs, and a Paddington sweatshirt and bottoms from M and S and a Duplo vehicle box from the Lego store for the little chap.
It was very busy, probably because people were trying to dodge the rain like us.

DD got the tram back to Manchester from there before heading home to Birmingham.

Today I need to do washing and make up a fresh bed ready for my friend who's due to arrive tomorrow.

This evening we're going to the preview evening of the Jigsaw Festival which opens to the general public tomorrow morning.

Hope your fridge holds on until you can find a new one Greyduster. At least temperatures aren't what they were a few weeks ago.

Grandmattie thank you for your tips on home preserving. It’s nice to know what somebody does in the real life rather than reading the cookery books . The chutney is in jars and is delicious. It will be even better in a couple of weeks after it has fused all the flavours . I did as you said and just screwed the tops on very tightly when it was hot
Well I have been up since three and downstairs since four. I’ve done a bit of crocheting watched a documentary and fell asleep again. I am snuggled under a blanket. I must admit it is nice to be a bit cooler. Rather than trying to keep cool all the time.
I have a day of packing and not much else really

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and dry, although rain is forecast. Ashcombe I am very fond of Indian food but have it rarely.
Yesterday I spent time in the school library and sorted it out then home to tidy the kitchen, clean the bathroom and hoover. Thereafter I rested.
Today I will have the boys before and after school. I'm not sure what I will do between times. Ds is heading to London for work with a wasp incursion in his flat which is also now on the market. The timing is bad!

Good morning. A slightly warmer day with no rain forcast for us in N.Bucks.
It’s the start of two busy days for me. Our two youngest DGSs will arrive in about an hour. I’ll be pleased to see them , they have been away on holiday for almost. 3 weeks.. Not sure what they will want to do , we’ll go with the flow.
After they leave early afternoon I have the cake for our WI to decorate.

Good morning from a grey Bristol.
I’m very late as I took a “sleeping pill” last night. I’m very fed up of sleeping very little and normally having a maximum of about 5 hours sleep.
Yesterday, I managed to dry two loads of washing outside.
I was fairly busy as I washed my floors as well as go to Tesco. This takes more than two hours because my neigbour’s friend is very disorganised as well as nearly blind, so is ever going hither and thither to get her groceries.
The tea with neighbours went well, with the first guest arriving 30 minutes early! Then another 6 came along; the usual suspects as well as two who have barely spoken to me and rarely join in anything in the close! I was flattered.
Today is completely empty.

Good morning from south Glos, it’s cloudy, dry and cool here.
I started the plum jam yesterday (no heavy pans lifted I promise!), the recipe said to prepare the fruit and add sugar then leave in the fridge overnight. So I’ll finish it this morning.
It’s a new recipe for me, it’ll be interesting to see how it turns out!
I’m going to try making rosehip syrup, apparently it has 15x more vitamin C than oranges? I have wild roses growing in the garden and there are plenty more in the hedgerows near the house.
I’ll have a tidy up before the cleaner comes tomorrow, it won’t take long.

May I suggest you keep the chutney to mature for about 5 weeks. It makes the vinegar milder and the flavours come out more.

Good morning from a clear blue sky here in the Black Country.

Great 21st party Sunday night. Although heard bad news about someone in the extended family (*MrJ's*) is in a Hospice.

Stayed in a Premier Inn overnight with his DD's, then we had breakfast together before dropping them off at the train station, and heading home ourselves. Yesterday was mainly sunny with a couple of small showers.

Today I am over to Mums, and DS is coming over too to see his Nan as he is off work today. We will probably take Mum out to lunch.

It is now a countdown for for DGD2 to go to University, a big step in life for her.

Good Morning everyone from a cool central south coast. It is dry and we are promised sunny intervals. I much prefer the cooler temperatures too Melanie.

We had a lovely birthday lunch yesterday at the restaurant across the road. It was very busy but the food was, as always, delicious. Our new next door neighbour with her little neuro-divergent daughter came in, plus her Mum's friend. Little one spotted us and shouted out across the crowded dining room to greet DH, to whom she has taken a shine! It was very funny! Then, when her Mum had taken her to the loo, she announced loudly to everyone "I'm back" as they returned to their table. She certainly makes her presence felt! She is a very sweet and endearing little girl.

I must try to do the ironing today, if my painful arms and shoulders allow. I also have to arrange the lovely flowers which DH had arranged to be on our table, waiting for me.

Thinking of all our strugglers and those with worries of any kind. May the day bring some relief and ease.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire and a bright blue sky. Yesterday we did a three miles walk around a local beauty spot and then put our deckchairs by the river and watched the swimming and paddle board activity, it rather felt like being on holiday.

Today DD2 and the children are coming round for a picnic in the garden and do some crafting activities. They were asked shall we all go to the zoo today but they opted for a day here. They return to school on Thursday and I think just want a couple of quiet home days they have been busy over the last few weeks. The 12 year old is starting to become anxious about her return to school as there will be new classes with different people to settle in to. DGS2 seems to take it all in his stride.

My 20 year of granddaughter is currently on holiday abroad with her boyfriend and suffering anxiety being away from home. So many young people with anxiety now.

Hoping everyone has the best day possible I cannot believe we are now in September!

Good morning everyone from a sunny mid Essex. It feels cool outside but will soon warm up. I spent yesterday morning with DD1 and family and my niece and her DH, sorting through some of my late sis in law’s possessions. Sad, but a little easier with company.

I need to collect my regular prescriptions this morning, so that will be my walk for the day. As it’s Tuesday I’ll visit my dementia friend this afternoon.

greyduster I hope you can find a suitably sized fridge soon, it’s not easy and choice is limited when the available space is restricted.

We heard yesterday that a friend's husband is in hospital with a mass on the brain.

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright and dry Carlisle.
It was a fairly relaxed day yesterday. The morning spent bed changing and laundering followed by research on the computer and a chat with DS2 in Sydney.
I got out in the garden after lunch just to put one plant in, not as quickly as I expected as I had to cope with tree roots. I was lucky to get out as it was a showery afternoon.

Today it will be into town for a prescription, I wish I could get them all done together once a month but it seems not possible, however, I do need a little top up of fresh veg etc.
Back home, it's holidays over and the vacuum out! Maybe other jobs too if I'm feeling saintly!

More rain yesterday but the lawns are looking greener, managed to get in garden and clear a few weeds before the rain.
Today I need to collect DH prescription and get few things from Iceland.
Think DH wants to eat out both of us have vouchers, mine are all for a free meal due to forthcoming birthday.
Has anyone heard from Pantglas and I see Marzipan hasn't posted for some time.
