Good Morning Tuesday 1st September 2026

Good morning from Malta where it’s sunny and the high will be a slightly cooler 37°C. It does not feel autumnal here apart from the darker mornings and evenings.

I don’t know why I have slept so late today but I have nothing to rush for.

Had the boys all afternoon yesterday. They were their usual sweet selves with DGS2 resisting a nap but eventually snuggling off to sleep on my knee. I could watch them sleep for ages, wish I could slow down time, it scares me how fast life is whizzing by.

They were picked up after 5pm by their daddy who was taking them to see his parents who spend three months at their summer residence near the beach.

I watched tennis and was very glad to see Alcaraz back. He is such a happy soul and a joy to watch.

Lovely photo Greyduster, it looks like a painting. Also enjoyed your pictures of Fountains Abbey yesterday. They brought back nostalgic memories of childhood visits to my grandparents in York when we would ‘go for a Drive’ which would often take us to Fountains or Rievaulx Abbeys. Happy days.

Well, I must gird my loins and climb aboard the exercise machine. I’ve skipped a few days so it is going to feel more of an effort today.

Good morning from a dull, but dry Durham.
Hopefully, it’s the final and expensive visit to the Dentist for this current course of treatment. I think it will have been a waste of money, but we shall see. I’ll cancel my next visit in November and re-schedule it for March.
Not sure if I’m taking Little Dog back later today or sometime tomorrow. I want to give DD2 time to unpack and settle after being away, so, I await my instructions.

Good morning from cool South Lanarkshire.

The ironing pile isn’t going away but now that September has arrived my cunning plan is to give it another few days then start putting away all the summer clothes which will decimate it then it will be manageable.

After much thought I’ve decided to return to volunteering in the shop which reopens today after having been closed for two weeks. I was upset by the manner in which two managers were dismissed and the lack of communication with the volunteers. I’ve emailed the area manager explaining my concerns and can do no more.

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where a pleasant day weatherwise is promised.
We were woken this morning by both dogs jumping on the bed simultaneously, one on each side. I don’t know what had woken them unless it was the workmen from arriving early for the extension that is being built next door but one. I tend to tune out to what’s going on there or the noise and mess would drive me insane and there’s nothing I can do about it. I understand your problem Greyduster. DS2 needed a new washing machine, but when it arrived, it wouldn’t fit through his galley kitchen and he had to get a different one delivered. It was all very frustrating as the choice with the smaller washing machine was very limited.
An early walk in the woods, then the dog walker will take both the dogs this afternoon. This will give me a chance to get a client’s grass cut. DH is still struggling to walk so it will fall to me. It’s not the cutting the grass that bothers me it’s getting the heavy mower up and down three steps. It’s our mower but it lives in her garage as it’s only needed for her garden.
I do admire those who can make preserves, I’m afraid I have to buy mine.
Hope Madeleines leg is showing improvement for her foray to the Muker show tomorrow and improvement to all who are struggling. Take care everyone 🌸

Good morning from the NE where the sun is shining and promises to be rain free today.
Did not see anyone yesterday, the street was very quiet for a bank holiday.
Did some admin and then watched TV, I enjoy Ludwig but am finding the I door filming is very dark and I struggle to see everything.
DD and SIL are travelling to the UK today, fingers crossed for an uneventful journey.
I will do some food preparation this afternoon, courgette Provencal with produce from DIL's parents garden.

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where we returned yesterday after our family weekend in Norfolk at the holiday resort. It was a very successful and enjoyable time for all and an ideal venue for our ages that ranged from 9 to 80.

The venue was full with many large family groups like ours and all the children ranging from several babies to older teenagers behaved impeccably.

Go carting,archery,swimming,badminton and shooting were tried as well as art activities and DS went fishing with DGS3 and DH watched. The site goes down to the beach and there is a lovely walk along there.

Back to work today for our DC and their spouses and the DGC at different days in the next weeks to their schools and 2 now to university.

I’m meeting a dear friend at the seaside for coffee and then a walk to a favourite cafe for lunch. My keep fit classes start tomorrow and it feels like our year has moved on to the next season.

I hope all is well with everybody and today is a good one for all.

We had a lovely weekend with the whole family. The journey back was also good until the M1 was shut at our junction.

Today will be spent recovering and I have to return a call from the vascular nurse.

Good morning from Staffordshire where the sun is shining.

We stayed in the local Travelodge last night so we could be at DD’s for 8am to look after DGS1.Our days of getting up at 5am and driving for two hours are over!

The day will be governed by what DGS wants to do,They have had a really busy summer so I think he is wanting a quiet day before he goes back to school tomorrow.DD and DSIL’s training days today and tomorrow before the children’s turn on Thursday.

Our fridge is on its last legs too Greyduster and like you only one place for it in the kitchen so a limited choice.

Good morning from the East coast.
Today we are going back to Uncle’s flat to do some more clearing out. Meeting my mum and brother there. I’ll miss going after the last six years and seeing the lovely staff. My uncle is cremated tomorrow morning at 8-15, we’ll be thinking of him.

It was lovely to see my dad yesterday I was by his side the whole afternoon very protective. My stepmum is struggling with the caring, at 81 herself she sometimes finds it very stressful but would never say that in front of Dad but told me yesterday. I worry about them so much.

I’m looking forward to going out tonight with DHs cousin and his wife they always make me smile. The pub we are going to serves the Hawkstone beef and ale pie from Jeremy Clarkson’s farm which DH is looking forward to trying. I’d love to try it too but being gluten gluten free it’s the mushroom risotto for me. I hope they have it tonight he’s been nagging to go for ages.

Good morning and white rabbits from Sunnyside Sandhills northwest coast.
I know we did have a too hot patch, but for me, our summers are far too short and I’m not keen on the thought of our long winter approaching.

Although I’ve been drawing and practising songs, yesterday I felt I had to get out and spent a couple of hours in our local sand dunes. Not a soul about and I listened to some classical music as I did my walk. Felt better for it. In the evening, a long FaceTime with my sister in the south.

Today the usual music club and I’m going early to help set up.

Morning from an overcast S Hants, it’s our lovely granddaughter's birthday, 19, getting into her stride with life. Deferring university for a year, working, with the aim of European travel next year.
We had a quiet BH, I’m hoping today the roadworks nearby will be cleared to open up a crucial junction, overnight work for two weeks to complete.
I took ages have missed pantglas and Mizuna monk, hope all is well.

Another disturbed night with the pain from my knee and hip.
I am seeing the physio this afternoon but I am not hopeful she can do more than diagnose the problem and recommend exercises.
Before that I have an appointment with a Cardiologist to discuss the results of the tests I have had after experiencing an irregular heartbeat.
I so rarely trouble the medical profession but getting my money’s worth now.

It is a bright morning so far but again rain is forecast.

I hope for a decent day for you all.

A morning of pottering then an early lunch and out to join my walking group. I am taking a neighbour with me today as she is starting a sponsored month of walking a mile a day for a dementia charity; I thought it would be good for her to be in company on her first day. Her husband is in the early stages of this awful illness

Morning all from a blue sky/cloudy West Oxfordshire.

Usual weekly shop today and our cleaner should be here this morning. The gardener is due this afternoon - I’m not sure there’s an awful lot she can do. At least the grass is beginning to look green again. I’ll visit friends this afternoon.

Our tumble dryer conked out yesterday. It’s been on its last legs for a few weeks but there was an ominous smell of burning yesterday. OH will try and sort something out today - either having it fixed or buying a new one. I think it’s around ten years old.

DD and DSiL left very early and their bedding is now in the washing machine but will I fear have to be dried inside - not something I have done for weeks but it definitely feels like autumn. Today is the fourth anniversary of our wedding since DH died and I miss him more than ever but will dig out the wedding pictures and be reminded of so many friends and relatives who shared that sunny and happy day.

Otherwise a quiet week with life starting up in earnest next week as we plunge into the autumn term. I always feel this is really the beginning of the year because most of our working lives were linked to the educational cycle.

good morning everybody from Herefordshire. it was a very long weekend, did not see anyone from Thursday when my housing assistant officer came. Then yesterday my friend came round. she is one of my dearest friends but is always quite busy so we do not get together that often. i think she was glad to chat as she is having problems with family and with her darling little doggy.
was awake a lot of the night with my ear which is agony. its been quite wet but i cannot get to a Dr no transport so I am stuck with the pain not sure what to do.
Anyway need today to catch up on some emails including one to find out what is happening with the police re my ex and all the horrible things he did to me. had the interview, the house search and my old GP was sending a report so just wondering where it had got to.
id also like to finish my book and do some coloring to relax so we will see where the day takes me!!

Good morning from cool and damp South Lanarkshire where I am regretting not getting organised earlier and going to the shops when it was dry, another unfortunate thing about not driving anymore.

Lots of paperwork today, long planned but now necessary.

Trip to hospital yesterday for my eye injection, lots of ‘floaters’ this morning which are annoying. I find myself batting away non existent flies. It was nice to spend time with DD1 though, we went for coffee and a good catch up afterwards.

Good luck to your DGD starting her new school tomorrow. harrigran I’m sure she’ll love it but hard leaving her friends behind.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. My earlier post vanished with this scam popup which HQ hasn't managed to get rid of.

Today is serious/ruthless decluttering/chucking day while my friend has gone shopping in Edinburgh.

Yesterday I took several buses to Jedburgh where my friend and I spent the day exploring the abbey and avoiding the bookshops.

There were many tourists, probably from over the border, but half the cafés were closed because it was Monday.

I hope all our poorly friends are having a better day.

I had eye injections for about 2 years and it is a fact that after the first couple they are no longer a problem or even painful but the floaters where the needle goes in is a real irritant for several days, also the drops which can be tricky when you live on your own.
