Good Morning Saturday 25th July 2026

Good morning,
We’re up early running friends to the airport. Air is a bit foggy, and it was hot in the night. Might need an afternoon snooze while we watch some of the F1 coverage 😁. It’s not as exciting as it used to be!

Good morning from Malta where we have a sunny day forecast with a much more normal high of 33°C.

There was a breeze yesterday which made the walk to meet my friend a lot easier. We had a lovely catch up.

I ironed and vacuumed then had a lazy afternoon before the boys arrived for their sleepover. They had their dinner, I bathed them then read countless stories before they went to sleep.

A slight drama averted when DGS2 realised his Lovey hadn’t been packed. He said he couldn’t sleep without it but I offered him one of my many scarves and he accepted that and picked out one with bees on as an acceptable substitute!

I was exhausted by 10.30 and fell into bed only to be woken a couple of hours later by DGS1 calling ‘Nana!’, so I have spent the rest of the night lying horizontally across the bottom of their bed as DGS1 was restless all night, tossing and turning but fast asleep!

Have just snuck out with aching back to make my morning tea which I hope I can drink before they wake. Bless them, they are such good boys, Treasures indeed.🥰

They have a party this morning so will be picked up at 9.30 after which I will get on with tidying up, stripping their bed and other jobs around the house.

Good morning from Bristol. I have just woken up - it must be an accumulation of short nights as I normally sleep about 5 hours per night…
bellas, I’m glad that the lovey drama was reasonably easy to sort out; could have been a big problem. Hope your back is ok after it’s unusual night!
Yesterday was interesting. I met my friend at the cafe, then I suggested we came back here for some lunch. I had no idea what to to offer but she was pleased to come over.
The painters are proving worse than we feared, just slapping paint on without preparation, covering rust without priming, etc. I’m constantly writing to complain, as are one or two others.
What do they expect if there is no one to supervise; apparently, it is left to us. Some of the work is dreadful. Their contractors are useless and the subcontracted do as little as possible and badly.
At least, Teflon and his colleagues are starting to listen to us. We don’t want much, just the the money spent and work is done properly.
Today, I’ve got my bit of church to clean. Not looking forward to it’s been closed all week to put in the new heating at last. As there is to be a little concert in the afternoon, it needs to be done.

I haven’t slept well at all but hoping that I’ll feel better after my caffeine hit.

We took the children home yesterday evening, it’s been a fun but tiring few days, my energy levels seem to be declining I’m sad to say.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a grey, cool start that will herald another dry, warm South Yorkshire day.

I went with DD and the menfolk to the afternoon showing of Odyssey yesterday at the iMax cinema. An amazing spectacle, but very long and very loud. Everyone enjoyed it, and I managed to keep all my nitpicking to myself😁!! We had a lovely tasty dinner at Wagamamas to round off the event.

Today I will do a small shop at Aldi, and then I shall give my kitchen a good clean and hopefully have a local walk to round off the day.

Good morning from s somerset, better weather today, more normal

A priority has to be an allotment visit, for watering and picking. I think I will combine that with a cycle ride this morning

This afternoon I will continue with pattern cutting and packaging, all for futureproofing. My 18mm dowelling arrived so I cut them into 5" lengths and took them upstairs with my rubber mallet, gently bashed one into a pegboard hole but not gently enough as most of my cones fell off as did my trays of pins etc

I am getting on nicely with the pattern printing, sticking and packaging process and should finish with my favourite brand later today. Then I start the next favourite brand. It will all be sorted in good time and that will be that, ready for me to face old age without too much clutter

I decided to put a few things away in the garage last night eg bubble wrap in rolls. Thy are up on a high shelf now and I was amazed to find the elfa unit top shelf, which I had removed to make an elfa tower several years ago. I need that piece so was very chuffed. I always put things away safely and can never find them after a few weeks. I cannot see anything much on those high shelves, it takes a tall stepladder to get up there

Good Morning everyone from another bright and sunny morning here on the central south coast.

DH is out for a coffee and cake bike ride this morning, with his cycling club but will be back for lunch. His check up call from the hospital was, as it always is, later than the given time. He was supposed to have had a final scan before being "signed off" but he has been waiting for it for 2 years now. They have scheduled another phone call for January 2027, and again promised to chase up a scan appointment. It is 7 years since he had the first cancer operation and is fit and well, so I suppose I need not be too concerned but the inefficiency of the system is a concern.

We shall join Mick watching the penultimate day of the Tour de France on Alpe d'Huez this afternoon. I find the high alps intimidating but spectacular. French TV scenery photography is always spectacular.

Otherwise, I shall have another quiet pottering day.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Another hot day is predicted.

I had a good day yesterday - a delicious breakfast followed by a very good Arts Society lecture. OH stayed home with his worsening cough and cold. He is asthmatic so always worries about his chest.

Hopefully a quiet day. We have had people to stay the last three weekends so it will be good to have a quieter time. I have a White Stuff dress to return so I might pop into Oxford with it. It is a beautiful fabric but the cut is off and the sleeves are quite bizarre.

Good morning from the NE Mids where we have a very light breeze and broken clouds, will we get that longed for rain anytime soon I wonder? All the lawns around us are totally parched, apart from those artificial ones. Onions are mostly all lifted now and curing nicely.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 15°, breezy and drizzly rain. There was a downpour last night about 9 and it left puddles but when I got up at 1, everywhere was dry. Bellasnana you will need a nap later! baubles enjoy your walk.
Yesterday was another quiet day. I stripped the bed and washed and dried it all and did a quick hoover. Then read for the rest of the day..
Today I'm having dgs2 for a sleepover. Dgs1 is going to the other grandparents while dd and dsil go to a concert in Edinburgh with friends. First I will have to go to tesco for supplies- my local Aldi is having a refit. Then I will clear his bed of toys that have been abandoned there.
He will drag everything out, no doubt but that's fine. The day will be determined by him later. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a currently cool, breezy Cornwall. Looks like GN is working again on my phone, as it's been freezing me out for a couple of days.

Yesterday I said goodbye to the Boro jacket I made for a friend, as he had the final fitting and was thrilled with it. He said, 'Would you make more of them as I know my grandchildren and friends are going to want one?' I said no. 😂 It's been a wonderful learning curve as I didn't have a pattern and used only fabric from charity shop jeans plus aUniversity library book on Japanese peasant clothes for reference. I lined it with one of my friend's shirts. It's very, um, arty as you can see. As my son said when he saw mine, 'You look like a busker mum.' 🤣

Today is my youngest grandson's birthday and my nephews, whose parents died young, are heading from London with their children to stay nearby and my sons are taking the week off. Such a joy for all of us.

I didn’t get any painting done yesterday other events took over. So, after our local shop this morning I am determined to do some today.

Good morning everyone from another bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton day. Up early, showered, dressed, hair washed and dried, as I was expecting to make an early visit to the vets with my non-eating cats - but they have just eaten a small bowl of tuna each (warmed through in the microwave!), so I may leave it till Monday to see what they're like over the weekend. I also left last night's unfinished food out overnight and it had all gone this morning. I am beginning to think their reluctance may be due to the heat.

So while I am up and ready I think I will get an early bus to the shops, do my planned shopping and look for some other treats I can tempt the cats with.

My gardener came again yesterday, cleared all the weeds and strimmed the grass edges - not that there is a lot to trim! He also offered to do any little handyman jobs, so I shall bear that in mind.

I decided I had better occupy myself indoors, so washed down all the kitchen doors and drawer fronts. I may wash the floors later (or not).....
Yesterday evening was spent putting my tv box to rights, which involved a re-boot, dis-connecting and re-connecting to the router - I felt quite proud of myself when it was all up and running again! DH would have been proud too!

So, off to the shops soon, and I think a bacon roll and coffee in Costa may be on the cards.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Blue sky and sunshine again, a cool breeze at the moment but a hot day is forecast. I had a disturbed night, partly because I was waiting for a text from DD2 to say they were home and partly because I was coughing a lot. No text from DD2 but I know their delayed flight landed so I assume they got home safely.
I bought some plants for the front garden yesterday, they’re now in large trays in their pots and I’ll keep them well watered in partial shade until the ground is soft enough to enable me to put them in the garden.

bellasnana I hope you will be able to have a nap later and that your back doesn’t ache too much. Lucky you were able to easily solve the Lovey problem.

grandmattie it must be so frustrating for you to see the shoddy workmanship of the painters. I hope that your church cleaning isn’t as bad as you fear!

I am going out for what will be a very n long lunch, with of,my dear friends, three of us have known each other for over 46 years, the third a relative newbie as she joined ^our gang around 30 years ago. No driving for any of us as fizz will be taken 🍾🥂. I hope it stays warm as we are sitting outside at the restaurant which is right on the sea (estuary) wall and known for its sea food.

Good morning, it’s bright and sunny here already, another warm day ahead.
I went to art group yesterday, it was lovely seeing everyone again. I took a Kew colouring book and my coloured pencils, it’s the first art work I have done for at least 6 months I think. Very enjoyable.
That jacket is a piece of art Marzipan! I love it 😍
There’s nothing planned for today or tomorrow so will go with the flow and see what happens; I caught up with laundry etc

Good morning from a sunny Torbay.

Yesterday we enjoyed a long day out going by bus, steam train and ferry to visit Dartmouth. We were pleasantly surprised by the train not being too busy. I think people might have been discouraged by horrendous building work in Paignton plus an arson attack on the mainline railway station earlier this week. Nevertheless, The Dartmouth Steam Railway and Riverboat Company is on a separate line and is fully operational. We enjoyed a fish and chip lunch in a reasonably priced (for Dartmouth!) licensed café and I managed over 5,000 steps! All with the aid of my cane to support my arthritic knees. A quieter day today will be necessary.

When it was very hot in France recently, DH's cat ate little but soon regained his appetite on cooler days, BlueSapphire.

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where it’s turned cloudy after an earlier blue sky. The curtains are blowing about so it must be quite breezy too.
I won’t get my Saturday empty today as SDog can’t walk as far as CDog so either we’ll all go on a shorter walk or I will take SDog while CDog gets his usual Saturday long walk.
I met with a friend for a coffee in our local garden centre yesterday. She had so much news since I last saw her just 5 weeks ago ago, including the news that her son and his wife were expecting their first baby and that they were returning to England after emigrating earlier in the year. Both have managed to to get their old jobs back. She was absolutely delighted!

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's very windy. I slept much better thankfully. It may have been the couple of glasses of wine.
My df had managed to buy fresh herring to surprise me with. Covered in oatmeal and fried it's my favourite fish.

After a fairly relaxed morning at the shop till, the surveyor arrived and was finished in less than an hour. He found some damp but no woodworm and told my I hadn't tried to hide any problems as many sellers do!

The 2 DGD came for a few hours. They drew storyboard of their holidays so far and then made pots and decorated others.

They'll come for tea tomorrow with the other DGP.

Now I must make my lemon loaf as I was too tired last night.
I'd also like to catch the final day of an exhibition in Edinburgh.
