Just been trawling through the Hotter and Clarks ankle boots on the Internet, as I could do with a new pair, but the names! I like Everlay Mandy ones, (Clarks) but dare I go in and ask for them.?Then there are Matron Ella.Sounds more my age group.

I've got Orabella Anna in black. Sounds rather racy for a boot! Our local Clark's shop has just had a good sale on and they'd reduced some knee length, and ankle boots by 40%. Still not as good a bargain as that tv shopping channel's "one time only" though!

I'm waiting for some Skechers ankle boots to come from Amazon. Yesterday they were in Belgium but today they are in Leicester so they are getting nearer.

Despite disliking the name and not feeling at all matronly grin I've got Matron Ella, they are really comfy and have lasted well! I've also had some from M and S that have been good value, no idea what they are called though.

I've got Matron Ella too! I got them in a wide fitting, and love them to bits. I wish they did them in other colours.
Clarks shoe names are a mystery. Each shoe is named with two apparently random words or names that don't convey or suggest anything about the shoes. Very strange.

I didn't realise that shoes had names. I buy most of mine when I am in France (from supermarkets or clothing chains). Similarly when I do buy in the UK. I have never noticed names on any of them. Personally I prefer model numbers to names.

Matron Ella sounds kiss of death in the fashion world!
May I recommend a Hotter Pixie Boots (unobjectionable name and VERY comfy)? Soft as slippers, good range of colours, suede.
I have bought them before but used to find them hard to get on as I have high insteps and am getting stiff, but this year's style comes with a ZIP so (at the risk of infuriating Pedants on another thread) "what's not to like"??

Teetime Thu 28-Sept-17 08:46:24

I don't know why Clarks name their shoes or who is responsible but they need to stop and give them a number of something.

DanniRae Thu 28-Sept-17 08:56:58

I've got Matron Ella too and love them. They are so comfortable and look good with trousers or leggings. In fact I love them so much that I have a brand new pair put away ready to take their place. (TBH I don't really care what they are called but now I think about it it is a silly name!!)

I have a 20% off code if anybody wants to order online, it's BTS17, it's valid until Sunday.

Smithy Thu 28-Sept-17 09:49:25

Doesn't matter what they're called as long as you like them. I love ankle boots!
Thanks for code Kim.

Blinko Thu 28-Sept-17 09:56:56

I love ankle boots. But as I have at least four pairs, plus long boots I can't justify (to myself) another pair.... Ill have another cup of tea instead brew

Apricity Thu 28-Sept-17 09:58:14

Jeepers! Just buy the boots/shoes that you like and fit you. Who cares what dopey name someone came up with. Have you ever looked at the colour names on paint charts? They take you into another world. Life is too short for these sort of conniptions. Just strut your stuff and enjoy.

lemongrove Thu 28-Sept-17 10:00:35

I always go to the shop to try them on and don't buy shoes or boots on the Internet, so imagine going into Clarks and asking for Everlay Mandy ( I imagine men choose these names!) Ever lay Mandy? ?
I woukd have to mumble it as Everly Mandy, and then the assistant will call out to the manager 'have you heard of ever lay Mandy Boots'? sniggers all round.?

BetteBarrett Thu 28-Sept-17 10:02:52

I have just had a pair of Softinos delivered, I love them, expensive but soft leather comfortable

lemongrove Thu 28-Sept-17 10:03:25

Nice to know the Matron Ella are good though, thanks.?
Mawbroon I did try the Hotter pixie boots on last year but they felt too flat ( or could it be my flat feet?)?And I ended up buying Mystery boots from them instead. They are not very mysterious.

I've recently purchased a pair of Reiker ankle boots tan in colour with a little square of matching tweed check. Caught my eye for sure. However, the clever design has really impressed me in that they have laces and an inside leg zip. Laces for me are a turn off but the idea here is that you set up the lace tension to your particular comfort zone initially and then revert to using the zip only. Brilliant!

Sheilasue Thu 28-Sept-17 10:53:31

I am looking for new boots forget about Amazon.

moobox Thu 28-Sept-17 11:07:02

As a size 9 I really struggle to get my size in most ranges. Strange as feet sizes have increased with the passing generations, but sadly still true. Yesterday i bought some men's canvas shoes from primary for my hols. But I guess it is ok, because they are pink!

moobox Thu 28-Sept-17 11:07:34

That should have read Primark

Kim0612 Thu 28-Sept-17 11:26:58

You are welcome glammanana, hope the code works for you.

conners13 Thu 28-Sept-17 11:38:05

Just wanted to post about fitflop boots. On my second pair now, first lasted 3 years. Not want you call a high fashion item but warm and so so comfortable.

Ramblingrose22 Thu 28-Sept-17 11:46:14

You're all very fortunate to be able to order footwear online without having tried the same style first in the shop.

I have narrow feet and have a lot of trouble finding full-length boots that don't slip off at the back. Ankle boots are easier as they are often more "shaped" around the heel.

If anyone has found boots - whether ankle or full length - that are OK for narrow feet, please let me know.

MawBroon Thu 28-Sept-17 12:00:10

Thank you Kim!!
