Today I am sad

Lots of life's irritants - from big to small - seem to have coalesced into one today. Not like me to lose my optimism, I'll have to try and work my way through it all but my reserves seem to be low. Heyho, worse things happen at sea as the saying goes.

Katek, sorry to hear you are feeling down in the dumps. Sending you a virtual {hug} and hope you are soon on the up.

Gymstagran Fri 28-Apr-17 09:16:23

Treat yourself kindly and take heart from reaching out to others. Hugs from me too

I am feeling a sort of apathetic nothingness

Nannylovesshopping Fri 28-Apr-17 09:18:16

When all hell breaks out and stuff hits the fan, I always tell myself that I am still breathing, think, is there anything I can do practically? make a decent coffee and disappear down the garden, with umbrella up if necessary, and have fifteen minutes to myself. I am so sorry katek that you feel it's all too much today and hope that you'll soon be feeling brighter soon flowerssunshine

A familiar feeling katek and I wish I knew the answer! For me it can sometimes be a phone call out of the blue, a friend popping by, an unexpected piece of good news or a FaceTime/Skype with a DGC which is such a pleasure - all things which usually involve people especially those I love.
A dog walk? Or an episode from Yes Minister/To the Manor Born/West Wing/The Good Life can also be therapeutic.
Sometimes you just have to KBO but maybe going out for a cup of coffee and piece of cake will help to restore the equilibrium.
{hug}

So sorry to hear you are down Kate
Speaking for myself and not wanting to sound glib or a killjoy but my life has been so disjointed and full of "happenings" for so long now that another irritation or botheration just adds to the rest and is no big deal.
This does though mean I have very little or no joy in my life and I hope you soon get some back into yours Kate

I always find that going for a walk helps me in this situation kate - I hope that your spirits rise as the day unfolds. flowers

It is miserable isn't it? At times like this, I just grit my teeth and bear it. In most cases the feeling passes with time.

Lona Fri 28-Apr-17 10:11:57

((Hugs)) from me, count your blessings first, then indulge yourself, it will soon be tomorrow and you can feel totally different then.
I think it's normal to have these low days sunshine

kittylester Fri 28-Apr-17 10:12:59

I can offer no solutions but hope a (((hug))) makes it a bit more bearable. flowers

Thank you all for your kind wishes- I'm definitely in overload in all directions so need to step back and put me first today. I'm going out for a meal and a theatre visit tonight so hopefully that will help. At the moment though I don't really want to make the effort to go-I will though as I couldn't let my friend down. It's a very funny play ( The Play That Goes Wrong) so should lift the spirits.

Sorry to hear you are having one of those sad days, Katek. I hope that once you have made the effort to get ready for your evening out you will begin to feel better. Some warm sunshine is also needed.

I know that feeling, expect most of us do. Yes, the play should help, katek, sadly no magic answers. Be kind to yourself while you have a think about being less overloaded, sometimes small things make all the difference, for me it's a walk by the sea or a river. Hope it passes soon.

TriciaF Fri 28-Apr-17 17:47:14

There's a saying "This too will pass", origin unknown, which I keep repeating to myself when problems keep happening. In 3s (at least).
Try saying that to yourself as a mantra, Katek.

Wheniwasyourage Fri 28-Apr-17 18:13:29

The Play That Goes Wrong should do the trick, Katek . We saw it yesterday and it's a hoot. I hope it helps and that you feel better soon. My friend who has major issues in her life just now always says that saying "This too will pass" to herself is a great help TriciaF.

flowers cupcake and sunshine to you, Katek

I'd give you some tips but MarBroon echoes my sentiments entirely. It's awful though isn't it and can be hard to shake off. Hope it's a better day today. sunshine

MawBroon Sat 29-Apr-17 07:59:14

Hope last night's The Play That Went Wrong did the trick katek?
Looking for a similar effect from the latest "streamed" Twelfth Night with Tamsin Greig as Malvolio myself this afternoon. Not sure DH will necessarily agree , he doesn't like his Shakespeare too "mucked about with" hmm

PRINTMISS Sat 29-Apr-17 08:39:31

Horrible feeling Katek, I don't have any solutions to the problem either, but it does seem to happen to a lot of people, all seem to have a remedy of some kind. I think if perhaps we could have some prolonged sunshine and a little warmth for more than a day it would help everyone's spirits to rise. Hope you enjoyed the night out.

Auntieflo Sat 29-Apr-17 09:02:18

Are you feeling any better this morning Katek? I hope so, and also that you enjoyed the play. Good wasn't it?

hulahoop Sat 29-Apr-17 09:47:58

Lots of sympathy to you Katek. Maybe think of it as being in a tunnel... and there is light at the end of that tunnel, no matter how faint. It will get brighter.

Menopaws Sat 29-Apr-17 16:10:57

Kate's, isn't it rubbish some days, try and pick yourself up but if you can't , cry yourself out , shake it off and then try again and see the good stuff in life, I wish you the best I really do xx
