Which would you choose - urinals or cubicles?

Well having to squat to pee I would choose the cubicles I'm not sure any woman I know would choose the urinals.

Cubicles ! It's a no brainier.... how the hell would I wee in a urinal in my no-fly trousers and my stick and my handbag ?

Well obviously!
The problem is that the pressure on what were formerly "Ladies" is now further increased by the addition of men wanting to use the cubicles.

I do get that it would probably mean men using the 'ladies' if the mens is busy but they also have cubicles in the 'mens' of course.

Yes both have cubicles - but one gender neutral toilet also has urinals as well as cubicles. So would you be fine with a) using a cubicle in the toilets with urinals b) having men come into the gender neutral toilet with nonurinals in order to use a cubicle?

I would be most unhappy using a cubicle while men were using urinals! Nor would I consider taking a female child into such a set-up!

And not only that shysal - whenever I've been passing a male toilet and the door opened, the stench usually made me gag. So men coming into what was - oh so quaintly called the 'ladies' - as is happening at the Barbican, will no doubt affect the cleanliness. So we can choose not to go in the loos with urinals but we can't choose to keep men out of those without urinals. I have to say WTAF?

Here in France there is often one toilet area with urinals as you go in and cubicles further back. I really don't like it but the French are much more relaxed about these things. Still quite usual to see men urinating by the roadside whilst travelling. My husband has had a lot of bladder problems and privacy during examinations is not really an option. The health care is excellent though.

Bad enough when you need to use public looos anyway. The thought of sharing them and having to pass by men standing at the urinals. !!! No thanks.

Perhaps the gender neutral is for transgender folk.

Doesn't worry me one bit. I've often used men's toilets at shows in London when the women's queue is 10/ 15 deep and the men's have cubicles free. And I've yet to see any gentleman flash the old boy.

I think what bothers me is that this has been driven by the transgender/non binary community. And what the Barbican has done is come up with a quick fix solution without considering others not in that category. If you were starting from scratch, as some concert venues have done, then you could have a corridor with cubicles off it, each one with its own washbasin , dryer and rubbish bin. The reality of the Barbican IMO is that most women will not go into the one with urinals ( and some men may feel uncomfortable if they do). At the Barbican apparently, men were going into the non urinals one however but not vice versa. I do think that women ( and men) who prefer separate facilities should be able to have them - perhaps there should be men, women and gender neutral. I fail to see why at a public venue, why there was not any consultation. I've used shared facilities in France but they were in smaller cafes and restaurants. In most hotels and more upmarket restaurants, the facilities were completely separate- but that's not really relevant, this isn't France.

And I do find the men's smell pretty yucky!

How can they be gender neutral if us ladies can't use the urinals. Good place for pervs to hang out (excuse the pun) if you ask me.

It's not that we can't use them, it's whether we want to and I don't.

It's not about women using the urinals, it's about the declassification of men/ womens toilets and their replacement with gender neutral toilets - one of which has urinals and cubicles and one of which has just cubicles

Depends on the length of the que and how desperate you are

No matter how desperate you are Galen, if all the cubicles are taken (in both toilets) then you don't really have a choice, do you?

Whereas men do, if they just want to urinate.
