Did the Mum accept these carefully reasoned arguments?

One minute they are babies gurgling away and then in the blink of an eye they can talk and converse.
Using their skills quiet nicely to their own end's!

Why is this funny? Is she the parent? She may have been putting her case like a politician or a scientist, but she will be a very fat one. Lots of little children have a big volcabulary but it doesn't mean they have common sense. Silly post in my opinion.

Oh for goodness sake Pollengran just a little girl finding her independence and stating her case. Of course her Mum will help her reach a sensible conclusion I'm sure. Life does have its lighter side.

If this family had a vegetable garden, the child might have been aware that strangely shaped vegs were as good as or better than the straight carrots or cucumbers required by most supermarkets; and that potatoes just needed to be scrubbed to get rid of the 'dirt'. I hope the mother put her right about these facts.

I would like to hear if sunseeker followed them around the supermarket for the conclusion of either purchased dirty vegetables, or a hot sausage roll. I do like a laugh BTW .

Good heavens, Pollengran and Annodomini, get over yourselves. It was a happy post about an amusing overheard conversation. Why so eager to spoil it for those of us who like to have lighter moments?

No it was a silly post about a normal child who would become a scientist or a politician. I love lighter moments with my GC but it is my job as an adult to steer them clear of trans fats.

What they want is not always what they get, much as I adore their toddler whiney moments and their amazing whiney volcabulary. They are not Einstein for goodness sake, they are just growing up.

I don't see the OP saying anywhere that they went off and got the sausage roll. .

No she didn't, but she did say the potential scientist turned her nose up at a dirty carrot and I take acception to that .

sunseeker funnily enough, DH and I were amused to hear a little girl in a NT cafe this week explaining earnestly to her mother that the cake would be better for her than the salad her mum was buying!
Mum smiled, said 'hmm' and bought her the salad.

DH wanted the salad then the cake

and as the little girl in the OP was logical she could become a scientist, but I doubt a politician

It seems to me that alot of things on GN need to lighten up a bit. There are certain people posting on here, I notice, who describe a post as " silly" if they don't happen to like it or agree with the poster. It isn't silly to throw something up for discussion. I think back here to my Phone sex Operator post.

I think someone there even said we are grannies here why would grannies want to talk about that? ..well why not? I to0 am a granny, and I don't think one person should promote themselves as the spokeswoman for everyone else.
Looking at the above post I would say yeah lighten up a bit a few of you. It was an observation made in the supermarket, and pretty funny the way it was described. I don't think it was meant to be a post on diets for Children or anyone else

Wow!! I have just come back to this thread, all I did was post about something that made me smile! No I didn't follow the mother and child around the supermarket (I'm not a stalker), the Mum did continue the conversation so may have gone on to explain the advantages of eating vegetables rather than a sausage roll, but I didn't hang around eavesdropping. Sorry you thought my post was silly Pollengran - I will now go and sit in the garden and eat worms (organic of course!!)

My stock answer to my children when they argued about what they wanted to eat was " when you can cook, you can choose"! It settled a lot of discussions and yes they both learned to cook!

I thought it was an inoffensive light hearted post too. Many of us enjoy hearing what wee ones say without needing to try to make particular points.
