I've had my granddaughter here today and she asked me what I was really good at when I was a child. It got me thinking, "what was I really good at?"

Well swimming came to mind as I used to be a really good swimmer.

What were you really good at?

I was quite good at high jump when I was about 14 but when our PE teacher said she wanted me to enter to the county championships I was so scared I told a lie and said my Dad wouldn't give me permission.. she believed me grin

I was useless at any sport, but very good at English.

Me too, Ana !

Always won the three-legged race with my friend Marra at primary school!
As I got older I was good at French and English

Good at English and art; hopeless at maths and team sports.

Singing. I loved it and was much in demand.

No good at any sport - though I was once in the netball team because at that time I was much taller than all the others and could just drop the ball in the goal! But running was not on my agenda - and as for trying to play hockey without my glasses on....!

Country dancing! I was also a really good storyteller and used to win competitions for my 'compositions' as we called written stories in those days. I used to make up stories almost every day to tell to my siblings in the evenings and I still love to tell/read stories to children.

I was good at the high jump. I was school champion when I left. Unlike tanith, I went to the County Sports event, but I never got to compete. It was rained off. We all got soaked, and had to return to school. ☔

I was quite good at playing the piano too.
Unlike joanna above, I was most definitely not nippysad

pollyparrot Thu 18-Feb-16 21:26:16

I wish I could play the piano.

Grannyknot Thu 18-Feb-16 22:24:05

Reading, spelling, biological sciences, *public speaking (high school debating society trophy winner three years running). *Whatever happened to that person? She's long gone, I quake in my boots now for public speaking.

Eloethan Thu 18-Feb-16 22:28:49

English, Art and singing.

M0nica Thu 18-Feb-16 22:32:13

Reading and like, Grannyknot, public speaking, I was a good debater, still am. History and geography. Useless at all sports and no gift for languages or the sciences.

English and Drama, I played Nerissa in the Merchant of Venice age 14, I had about a kilo of cotton wool stuffed down the front of the dress to fill it out, every performance it rode up made me sneeze and looked like a furry ruff !!!!!blush
