What were you really good at?

I loved Eglish language and literature. French too. Maths just awful.

I was a jackie of all, master of none. I liked a lot of things but nothing at school really stood out for me. My careers teacher at school despaired with me, she didn't know what to suggest! Most people were 'encouraged' to go to University. I couldn't decide on what to study so took a different path. I've trained in & worked as a few different things, all have been part of what I enjoy but none have totally summed me up. I guess, I can't be pigeon holed!

I was good at Art, English & biology,hated games lessons with a passion, except for tennis. Was ok at Maths till it got to the trigonometry (spelling ?) bit !

Quite academic, quite musical - my parents wanted me to be either a concert pianist or ballet dancer, but was podgy and totally ungraceful and afer about 5 years they had to accept that my level was "I'm a little teapot" and let me give it up. Always finished a race, but came in at the end of the race after the one I was running! Not in the slightest sporting, but eventually became semi-pro pianist and violinist and these days love orienteering, which I did at college when it was a pretty new sport.

I excelled at English and wasn't too bad at art. Sport and I however were never on speaking terms

Oh dear, I think I was a late developer. I don't remember being particularly good at anything as a child. In junior school, I was quite academic but, once I went to grammar school, I lost interest so drifted along, trying to keep under the radar, although I do remember a lot of detentions so I must have been fairly naughty!

It was only in my late 20's that academia appealed again and I got my degree and post graduate qualifications as a mature student before, belatedly, embarking on my career.

I do hope my grandchildren never ask me that question! I think I shall have to be economical with the truth, as they say.

Academically I was a late developer. I did my GCSEs, A Levels, diploma, degree and post-grad as an adult. I honestly think I enjoyed it all far more as a mature student. I was very lucky to have the opportunity for a second chance.
