One of my children has had two disasterious relationships. Both times I could clearly see what was about to happen. Clear as day in my minds eye. I was absolutely right. Before the first big disaster I did everything I could to warn them of the consequences to no avail. I actually think it may have made it worse. There have been other smaller decisions my other adult children have made that have had the same affect on me. " oh I wouldn't do that" I thought. At times I felt a bit like mystic meg. My oldest child said to me "mum don't give us unsolicited advice because we've probably made up our minds anyway and when it turns out that you were right we just feel resentful." So I've kept stum but it's hard watching somone you love walk towards a huge black hole and not being able to warn them don't you think?
Footnote: they've all survived and are now settled (fingers crossed) the two big disasters and some of the smaller ones are very much regretted and "l wish I'd listened mum" As I've picked up the pieces I think its too bloodylate now!
