I frequently have days like that. I once left DD in her pram at the shops and only noticed when DH asked where the baby was - I've never been allowed to forget it. She was fine, sitting up beaming at the passers by.

Forgot to say, I was very young at the time so be excuse there. Amazingly I'm allowed to look after gc and I've never left either of them anywhere.

Oh yes!

I enjoyed that katek. More than once I've tried to open front door, remotely, by clicking car key. Yes, I too, looked around furtively, but luckily nobody around.

When the phone rang recently I picked up the tv remote to answer....

Both DH and I have left the house in carpet slippers and not noticed until we arrived at our destinations - me at the docs, and him, once, on an excursion to Beaumaris. The only time we haven't had some kind of alternative footwear in the car! We couldn't find a shoe shop to buy him a replacement pair, so he walked around Beaumaris in his carpet slippers and no one seemed to stare! The other week, he was trying to open the wrong car with his remote key. Well, they were both white and one white car looks pretty much like another - not! Our grandson was in stitches.

I once came out of the village shop, got into a car that was in the same position as the one I had got out of, and said "right, off we go" only to discover that Mr P had moved it while I was inside and I was addressing a complete stranger

I usually walk to our local shops, but one day was feeling lazy so took the car.
However, by the time I'd finished the shopping I'd completely forgotten I'd driven, and walked home. As I got near my house, I had a momentary panic when I couldn't see my car anywhere.... and then realised what I'd done .
I was so embarrassed in case any neighbours had seen, that I made my DH walk up and get the car for me while I hid indoors

Well, I managed to retrieve the correct granddaughter (at least I think it was her-she had long, curly blonde hair....) but then left my housekeys on the inside of their door! I must have thought I was at home and put the keys back where they belong. Just as well dd spotted them or would have had to sit in car at home until dh got back.I think maybe I should retire to bed with a good book and start again tomorrow!

Quite often I've tried to make a phone call with a remote control or tried to change channels with the phone! I am sure I'm not alone in that!

Ditto anno, quite often. And the number of times I`ve filled the teapot with hot water, then when I`ve poured the tea out, that`s exactly what it was, hot water, no flipping teabags in! AND I once did Happynan`s trick, left a baby in his pram outside a shop, luckily just round the corner. When I got back for him, the shopkeeper said "I wondered how long before you noticed!"

Phoenix, that made me laugh ( so your embarrasment was well worth it!)

I went to work in odd coloured shoes twice. There were similar styles but one green and one navy. I noticed the first time in the staff room and the second time when I went to the dentist and the chair was tipped back.

Last week car in for a service. The garage called to say car was ready. It was a saturday + closes at 1pm I was in the middle of sorting the dreaded paper work. I thought I would try and finish it ,it was after 12.30 , But was only five minutes up the road. Paper finished went out front door, gasp!NO CAR! The five minutes up the road was by car!

In my own mitigation I must admit I have always been absent-minded. My mum sent me (about 19) out for a pack of stamped envelopes (remember them?). on the way out of the post office I posted the pack in the box set into the wall. The postmistress was very nice about it and unlocked the box to retrieve the envelopes.

Lol at all your funny tales! I've decided it's not absent mindedness or age related, it's because we're all such intelligent/busy/active people we have a head full of more important things to worry about. Well, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it!
I've managed to get to this point today without doing anything stupid but it is only 10.30 and I've just been sitting drinking tea. Lots of time left before bed.........

I think the worst 'moment' I ever had was when I realised, having stayed in a very posh hotel the night of my daughter's wedding, and having arrived in all my finery, was discovering that I'd forgotten to pack any ordinary shoes. I'd planned on trousers for that day and the high heels that I'd worn to the wedding looked ridiculous with them, so as I was also wearing a turquoise cardi, I decided that the best plan of action was to wear my turquoise slippers and hope that no one noticed, lol.

And of course there was the time I went to the wrong funeral.......

How did you come to pick that name NudeJude ? Just curious

I have been to work with odd shoes on same colour, roughly, but different height heels. I wondered why my legs felt all wrong. It never occurred to me to look at my shoes. And the number of times I've tried to open the car door with the remote key ..... why do so many cars look like little blue Micras?
