Did anyone see the first episode of this last night? I had my misgivings about another series, thinking, what was there new to see or say, but I was completely blown away by it. The photography - especially the opening shots with the dolphins - was astonishingly beautiful, and I am always amazed by the expertise of these camera people and the lengths they go to to bring us such wonderful footage.

I am amazed that we still have so much to learn. Brilliant Photography and the wonderful David Attenborough. A great way to spend Sunday evening.

It was excellent but sadly I did nod off so will have to watch it again.

kittylester Mon 30-Oct-17 09:23:04

Just watched it with 2 grandchildren - they were enthralled.

Am I the only person on this planet who doesn't like David Attenborough.
I don't know why , I just don't.

Jane10 Mon 30-Oct-17 09:50:40

Hooray annsixty me too. I don't dislike him just find his voice boring. The programmes always feel a bit self congratulatory too. Sorry all. I know you love them.

Anniebach Mon 30-Oct-17 09:53:30

I don't dislike him, not a fan either, he has been on tv for ever and is rather a bore

Anniebach Mon 30-Oct-17 09:54:12

Jane, ?

Greyduster Mon 30-Oct-17 10:07:26

I’m not a big fan either, Ann and DH was grumbling mightily about him constantly fronting these programmes at his great age, but, at the end of the day, his name sells programmes and that is it, even though, to my mind, the quality of the series would carry it through whoever fronted it (God forbid, anyone but Chris Packham, though!).

Maidmarion Mon 30-Oct-17 10:52:41

I like Chris Packham .... Especially since watching the programme about his Asperger's ... it all makes sense now!!

Anniebach Mon 30-Oct-17 10:56:14

True Greyduster, he has become a sacred cow, don't mean that unkindly, just happens to some in the tv world . Never a woman though

TillyWhiz Mon 30-Oct-17 10:57:07

Phew, what a relief there are others who feel the same, we don't watch David Attenborough either. I always catch up with the best bits on Gogglebox!

Neilspurgeon0 Mon 30-Oct-17 10:59:07

No Ann I don’t like him either, always seems a bit pretentious to me, holier than thou

RAF Mon 30-Oct-17 11:04:55

My cats loved it!

Actually worth it for the amazing photography, that dragon fish was something else!

nanasam Mon 30-Oct-17 11:12:49

Not a big fan either but you have to admire the photography. We have a new big screen TV (HD, 4K, [shrugs with confusion]thlhmm) so I'm hoping it'll be a good and clear recording!

garnet25 Mon 30-Oct-17 11:32:57

Think it is well worth watching for the amazing photography and above all for its conservation message.

nipsmum Mon 30-Oct-17 11:33:57

Blue planet was fascinating. I'm not a great fan of Attenborough and would like someone like David Tennant to narrate, but the quality of filming and explanation was excellent. It's one of the best things BBC does..

Mapleleaf Mon 30-Oct-17 11:36:05

It was a fantastic programme. I don't agree that David Attenborough is boring. Quite the opposite, in fact, and incredibly knowledgeable. Nothing wrong with Chris Packham, either, though I think David is the right choice for The Blue Planet.

glammanana Mon 30-Oct-17 11:39:35

The best hours TV in a long time, fabulous photography and charming voice of David Attenborough just adds to the enjoyment for me.

Coconut Mon 30-Oct-17 11:46:44

Just amazing, and I also recorded BBC Four, “legends of the deep” narrated by David Attenborough ???? all breathtaking photography....

CardiffJaguar Mon 30-Oct-17 12:27:53

Thrilling. Every time he comes up with something new and spectacular; what a joy.

GillT57 Mon 30-Oct-17 12:48:32

The photography was spectacular.

SiobhanSharpe Mon 30-Oct-17 13:18:50

I agree the photography was stunning and the new discoveries about various fish and other wildlife was wonderful, but it's always the same -- 'look at this fantastic creature, hugely intelligent and we had little knowledge of it until now, so beautiful too..... Oh wait, here comes a large predator and.....' Two gulps and it's violently eaten.
I find it quite wearing and hard to watch, TBH.

Morgana Mon 30-Oct-17 14:06:39

Attenborough has done an awful lot for the planet so don't let's write him off completely!

Sparklefizz Mon 30-Oct-17 15:24:33

Oh, not David Tennant to narrate, nipsmum .... I'd have to put on the sub titles!
