If you are watching Missing what do you think of it . it's complicated isn't it? stories within stories and changing countries and changing years I m really having to keep on my toes to follow it I am enjoying it though One criticism is I wish the wife and girlfriend looked less alike I have to keep translate which is which it is getting better now I m more familiar with the story line but the first couple of episodes foxed me

Is someone possibly cloning look a likes of this original child. Just a thought.

Twists and turns, all good stuff.

The butchers wife has to come back into it surely!

Flipping heck Baptiste get a groove on I can't wait to know who did what.

So it was brain fluid, not blood, that leaked and killed policeman?

Can anyone tell me why, when Alice/Sophie came back after spent quite some time in captivity, she was speaking in a perfect, ordinary English accent? Surely if she were Alice, she would have picked up the accent(s) of her captors and peers? And if she were Sophie and not Alice, she would be French speaking with a heavy French accent?

Am I overthinking this again.?

gillybob Fri 11-Nov-16 08:45:11

Presumably her captors were English so no accents. The dead body in the shed was probably Sophie (who would have had an accent) . confused

The butchers wife will def come back as the young Daniel Reed accused her of being behind his fathers death. I think she knows her husband is innocent. There was a photo of her being gagged, or did I imagine that?

gettingonabit Fri 11-Nov-16 09:07:34

Yes there was a picture of her being gagged.

I'm wondering whether the lack of accent is a clue, which is why I was wondering about it. So we're taking it for granted that the captors were English? (I am, now, because I'm convinced butcher is innocent).

See, I thought it was Sophie who had returned in place of the real Alice, that it was Sophie in the shed, and that is the real Alice who's now free. Hence the accent thing. Sophie is French, and even if held captive by English people, to my mind (obviously no expert, me) she'd have traces of a French accent still, and would be able to speak French.

The girls are similar looking; perhaps enough to convince police that they're one and the same. But Gemma wasn't convinced, as Alice's mother. And she was dna'd against Sam but not Gemma. He's her father, but there's no evidence that Gemma is the mother.

This doesn't really make it any clearer confused

Mamie Fri 11-Nov-16 09:34:10

Sophie would not (necessarily) have had a French accent at all. Her mother was English.

Jalima Fri 11-Nov-16 09:54:04

I think that was mentioned Mamie, that she didn't have an accent, presumably brought up bi-lingual.

Jalima Fri 11-Nov-16 09:57:10

gillybob I think the picture of the butcher's wife being gagged was one of her husband's and her kinky sex games, so she deleted it because she thought it could be construed as evidence that he was involved in the crime.

gillybob Fri 11-Nov-16 09:59:34

Oh I see Jalima thank you . confused

She is involved with Daniel Reed and his father though isn't she ? He came into the shop at the beginning of the series and accused her. Wasn't she ex army?

gillybob Fri 11-Nov-16 10:01:02

Or if not ex army then def involved with the brigadier as he corrected her when she addressed him by a lesser rank.

gillybob Fri 11-Nov-16 10:02:00

If I had the time or the inclination I would watch again from the beginning and make a flow chart grin

Jalima Fri 11-Nov-16 10:04:28

And who and where is the third girl?

Jalima Fri 11-Nov-16 10:07:41

And who attacked the butcher's wife and why?

We're led to believe that it was the two thugs (friends of the brother) but not necessarily

gillybob I think that's it, but I could have missed something.

POGS Fri 11-Nov-16 10:12:51

Yes she was ex Military Police I think and presumably served with Reed and Stone in Iraq.

They did a DNA test on the body in the shed and it was Alice.

The little girl is presumably Sophies , if that was who returned and now living in Switzerland, as the doctors said she had given birth.

Great stuff.

POGS Fri 11-Nov-16 10:17:25

Is the 3rd girl not the prostitute?

The butchers wife was perhaps beaten up to frighten her to keep quiet about what she knows rather than as we were lead to believe because her husband was charged as a peadophile.

We now know there is another violent soldier in the mix who could easily have murdered Reed and beat her up.

Jalima Fri 11-Nov-16 10:26:55

The military policewoman said the DNA was a match with Alice's father but can we believe her? I would ask to see the report.

Anyway, how burnt was the body and how contaminated with petrol? How did they obtain any good enough DNA?

Jalima Fri 11-Nov-16 10:28:55

Prostitute? confused

POGS Fri 11-Nov-16 10:45:50

Prostitute?.

The girl in the 'pleasure palace' who was close to Reed and found him dead.

Jalima Fri 11-Nov-16 10:48:36

I don't think she had been captured

I mean the third girl on the roller coaster, wearing spectacles, the policeman was just on the verge of finding out who she was before drill man put paid to his investigations.

Mamie Fri 11-Nov-16 11:36:43

We don't know that the girl was Alice from the DNA. It was said that the DNA match was with her father - he could have been the father of any of the girls. That seems like a (deliberate?) hole in the plot to me. The DNA should have been matched with her mother.

Jalima Fri 11-Nov-16 11:52:18

That's right, and I am suspicious about the DNA anyway, as both parents should have seen the report, and how burnt was the body ?- if very burnt it would be very difficult to obtain DNA. That fire was very intense.

The way the military policewoman told the mother about the match was so casual it did not ring true. And if the DNA matched with the father why did she not get them both together and tell them together?

gillybob Fri 11-Nov-16 12:04:50

The prostitute was not a girl.

Jalima Fri 11-Nov-16 12:10:49

No, and in love with Henry Reed, was it reciprocated?

Which would seem odd if he was involved with the three young girls and the one in Iraq.
