She is undoubtedly an accomplished historian, but this series on the Romanovs is trying my patience.
First of all, does she have to talk down to us as if we were children, does she have to say RomANov with the stress on the middle syllable, does she have to play act and does she have to pretend to be excited /surprised/ shocked at the action described in her faux naive way?
I am sure Sebag-Montefiore, or Dan Snow or even Scottish Neil Oliver could do it much better.
