Where are the show stopping artists nowadays?

Just been watching the Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Concert on Youtube, just fabulous.

We no longer have Elvis or Freddie Mercury to entertain us in the big venues. Tina Turner has retired.

Can any of today's young artists whip up an audience in the same way ? I like Michael Buble and Will Young but it isn't the same excitement.

Sad old rocker sad

Adele? Thanks for the info on Michael Jackson, love him.

No sure why but Adele leaves me cold even though I know she's a sensational singer. Love Michael Jackson .

Yes Petra Adele is great for her voice and lyrics but the singers I have named could sing, dance, perform in the big arenas. They created such a buzz.

I watch masses of favourite singers on Youtube. You can often get a whole show.

Going back even further Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Where are stars of today with this calibre of entertainment ?

Bette Middler, Kylie and love him or loathe him, Robbie Williams is brilliant in concert.

tanith I agree about Adele. I don't mind her as a person but her songs don't do anything for me, I think she mumbles a lot and can't depict what she is singing about. "Skyfawwww"???

I think we were so lucky in the 1960s to have such fabulous music, individual artists and groups.

Seeing the Beatles was a memorable night in my teenage years. Chuck Berry was great but a difficult character who insisted on being paid cash. The great Van Morrison, who must be a nightmare to work with.

Yes I can imagine Robbie Williams is good Juliettemaybe he will do a Come Back show like Elvis did ? I like Bette Midler but she is about my age, where are the up and coming stars ?

Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi both put on a great show. Adam Lambert who toured last year with Queen was every bit as good as Freddie Mercury.

Humbertbear I quite agree re Adam Lambert. I recorded their 2014/5 programme and still watch it. He is definitely as good as Freddie Mercury, the same style and presence on the stage as well as a fabulous voice.

In their day The Rolling Stones could captivate, maybe not everybody but certainly me! Like NanKate I am also an aging rocker!

Charleygirl I often watch the Rolling Stones on Youtube with such favourites as Brown Sugar, Little Red Rooster, It's Only Rock and Roll. The RS and ACDC do a good number together, via Youtube again, can't think what it is called but it is a bit risqué blush.

I shall check out the chap who does the Freddie Mercury numbers.

I've just had to take my inhaler! Adam Lambert as good as Freddie? I'm off for a lie down in a dark room. . .
