I saw my daughter today and she mentioned she'd never been to the Channel Islands and how beautiful they look. I've been to Jersey but a lifetime ago so I'm thinking of suggesting we go next year.
So looking for the best place to stay in a small but nice hotel with meals near a beach and nice walks. Also good places to visit and best way to get around ,I can drive so is renting a car a good idea? I think flying is the best option and is it easy to visit Guernsey etc?

tanith I started a thread about Jersey a few weeks back, lots of info for you.

There is enough to sustain you on Jersey for a week, no need to go island hopping.

We're off to Guernsey tomorrow!
The Somerville Hotel in St Aubin was lovely when we stayed in Jersey last year.

We have been looking to go to the Channel Islands this year but are amazed at the high prices. We have been many times in the past but prices have rocketed.
We love both Guernsey and Jersey equally. However you don’t really need a car on Guernsey as there is an excellent bus service. Also many roads are very narrow.
From Guernsey it is easy to pop to other islands which are close such as Herm which has no cars and is like a tropical island on a sunny day.
Jersey is a bit livelier if that’s what you want and is also beautiful.
I read this week that in Guernsey you have to pay for medical treatment so you would need to check that.
I also find some of the Channel Islands websites a bit confusing. Make sure you find out, when booking somewhere, if the price quoted is for one or two people as it can be misleading.
Having said all that, I’d highly recommend the Channel Islands. The scenery is beautiful and there are lots of good walks. It’s also a slower pace of life. Have a wonderful time if you do go.

Alderney is a very unusual island, easily accessible from Southampton airport. Highly recommended.

Guernsey is a good base because from there you have the beautiful islands of Herm and Sark to visit.
