Anyone watch it?

It was the best thing I have watched in a long time. Good twist at the end too. Great!

Thanks Welshwife I missed that bit , I did see him take the wire and you just knew that he was going to try something. I do like the idea that they don't 'explain' every little detail but leave the audience to work it out for themselves. I'll know next week to look out for 'clues' during the program, well spotted.

rosequartz Wed 14-Oct-15 19:58:30

Yes, I missed that bit too.

I hadn't seen any trailers; it did remind me too of Sixth Sense but was quite startling when you began to realise!

River says that he doesn't see ghosts, but manifests, so is it supernatural at all? Manifestations, in his mind about crimes that help him work things out.
It is quirky, although on the slow side.

Just watched on catch up brought back great a memory, dancing to Tina Charles at the local disco grin

Great acting but I have to admit I found it rather unsettling.

trisher Thu 15-Oct-15 13:54:42

As I said loved it, but have one complaint. I now can't stop humming and breaking into bits of "I love to love....". Trying hard not to break into song where anyone else can hear, but it is difficult!

rosequartz Thu 15-Oct-15 14:49:33

Me too trisher

I think Nicola Walker is a very good and versatile actress; quite different to her other parts in Spooks, Last Tango etc.

LullyDully Thu 15-Oct-15 18:13:49

Clue to the suicide was in the girl's copy of Romeo and Juliet. It is good and very dark. Scandinavian Noire.

DH not sure he will bother next week.

River reminds me of Beck same age similar character. I watch so many of these I get muddled with the storylines.

rosequartz Thu 15-Oct-15 18:36:25

He reminds me of Wallander

Tegan Sun 18-Oct-15 20:53:03

Yes; he reminds me of Wallander as well. Thought it was brilliant although I'm not watching the other programme that Nicola Walker is in which probably helps. Think it's the nearest we've got in our British attempts at scandi drama.

Tegan Wed 21-Oct-15 10:34:53

Are we all still watching it? Blow me, the phone rang last night just as I sat down to watch it [my phone never rings at any other time] so I had to wait an hour and watch it on catchup. This man has me in tears; I just want to mother him, and I've no idea where the storyline is leading. Probably my favourite thing on the box at the moment.

Coolgran65 Wed 21-Oct-15 11:12:13

Was last night's the final episode?

The second phone and the £10k... did it imply Steph might have been on the take.

LullyDully Wed 21-Oct-15 11:55:48

It is slowly unfolding and has four more episodes of intrigue.

I am enjoying the growing relationship between him and the psychologist.

In another thread someone asks about an adult diagnosis of autism. River does seem on the Autisticistic. Spectrum to me. Not sure if he is supposed to be Scandinavian in the programme, the name doesn't sound it.

rosequartz Wed 21-Oct-15 14:25:22

No, I wasn't sure either. The actor is Swedish but I don't think the character is supposed to be Scandinavian.

hildajenniJ Wed 21-Oct-15 17:22:41

I a loving this. I think that the character River may be Swedish as there was reference to Abba and Ahha in the first episide. What was Stevie mixed up in? Was she on the take, dealing drugs, or deep undercover? Very intriguing!

hildajenniJ Wed 21-Oct-15 17:24:44

Wasn't Stellan Skarlsgard in the film Mamma Mia?

rosequartz Wed 21-Oct-15 17:39:51

I may have to watch Mamma Mia then hilda

I could not get past the first 10 minutes the two times I tried .....
If he is in it it might be worth fast forwarding perservering

trisher Wed 21-Oct-15 17:40:05

Yes, he was on talking about it the other day. He described himself, Brosnan and Firth as being the male eye-candy in what was a women made film.

rosequartz Wed 21-Oct-15 17:41:08

Yes, I remember the reference to Abba and A-ha because he pointed out to her that they are Norwegian.

However, he is called 'John River' hmm

rosequartz Wed 21-Oct-15 17:42:03

Perhaps we'll get some Abba and A-Ha if he starts to sing a bit more grin

Ana Wed 21-Oct-15 17:53:59

Yes, the songs so far have had a 'dance' theme - Dancing Queen next, perhaps?

rosesarered Wed 21-Oct-15 20:57:24

It's compulsive viewing, a bit slow, but unusual.I must say I can't work out why he is a Scandinavian and called John River though.

Grandma2213 Thu 22-Oct-15 00:20:57

I am really loving this drama. I agree rosesarered it is compulsive and unusual but I like the slowness and the lack of 'chat'. You can almost hear them thinking, especially River and the psychologist.

LullyDully Thu 22-Oct-15 05:24:06

Abbas are Swedish
