Anyone watch it?

It was the best thing I have watched in a long time. Good twist at the end too. Great!

I watched the final episode this morning and I feel like a child whose birthday is over. This is one of the best things I have seen for a very long time. Such brilliant acting from all the cast had me totally engrossed from beginning to end. The most amazing thing was how River could look so tortured and yet when he smiled he lit up the screen. Those final scenes with Stevie had me weeping with a smile on my face!!

And Nicola Walker is brilliant too
And the one who played Ira, and his superior, forgotten her name.

rosequartz Wed 18-Nov-15 21:13:41

I found him mesmerising.

i enjoyed it too, riveting acting wasn't it?

Great series will miss it

What a wonderful series, even though I found it quite hard to follow. Tuesday nights won't be the same.

Loved it. Great ending. All the characters were really believable and the actors were fantastic. TV at its best,

River!! Well I've just watched the final episode. I must say that it was the best thing I've seen on television for a long time. I was riveted from the beginning. Great cast and production, and good sound quality too.
Excellent stuff BBC.

Oh crikey yes I remember him from Mama Mia and Good Will Hunting too. Thanks for that POGS

gillybob

Good Will Hunting, Pirates of the Carribean, Breaking the Waves, Mama Mia (gorgeous) etc.

KatyK Wed 18-Nov-15 10:33:28

Loved it smile

As you said in an earlier post rosequartz I hadn't heard of him before River. Should I know him from something else?

I confess to finding him rather attractive. Those eyes, that smile.... blush

The final scenes did nothing for my already swollen eye !

It did make me think that we should grasp every minute as though it were our last. River really wanted to tell Stevie that he loved her but didn't have the courage to do so until it was too late.

One of the best detective/dramas since Happy Valley.

I have always liked Stellan Skarsgard but whilst this was only a t.v production I think it was one of his best acting roles. I don't think there was a bad actor amongst any of the cast. The story had a good plot, the acting was excellent and I actually found that whilst it was obviously a murder case the romantic side between River and Stevie had me hooked.

I cried at the scene at the Chinese restaurant and when he followed her outside I thought it was a wonderful scene. I cried as well Gillybob.

rosequartz Tue 17-Nov-15 23:18:36

Well, that kept us in suspense didn't it.

I should have put the sub titles on in one or two places, but managed to follow it.
And yes gillybob - well I didn't cry but ......

gillybob Tue 17-Nov-15 22:42:57

Oh I cried a river when he was dancing and singing outside the Chinese restaurant..... sad

I agree one of the best dramas I have seen in ages.

I did suspect her mother Bridie but didn't dream for a minute it would be....... Oops I nearly said it (would hate to spoil it for those who might watch on catch up)

NfkDumpling Tue 17-Nov-15 22:30:45

Not often it happens - but I guessed who did it! Not the why or wherefore though. Good plot right to the end. Dead chuffed that I more or less managed to keep up too while DH didn't. Usually it's the other way around. Really enjoyed it.

Well, how good was that? It must be among the best tv dramas this year - and everything explained in the end (not that I saw that coming...)

stillhere Sun 15-Nov-15 15:06:23

Yes. I meant to watch that part again to check, but wiped it out of habit!

rosequartz Sat 14-Nov-15 20:17:34

Do you mean the judge stillhere - yes I think so too

stillhere Sat 14-Nov-15 16:18:58

I wondered if he was also the one who called for Stevie to be killed, as it would have exposed him.

rosequartz Thu 12-Nov-15 17:58:45

I'd never heard of him before River.

hildajenniJ Thu 12-Nov-15 12:52:08

For me, at the moment, this is the best show on TV. I can't wait for next week to see how it all turns out. What a superb actor Stellan Starsgard is.

gillybob Thu 12-Nov-15 11:04:52

Yes I agree with you rosequartz I found myself wondering what it would take for him to shake off the dead people and decided that it might be the love of a good woman someone like me but then wondered if "she" wouldn't end up being terribly hurt as he is such a troubled soul.

Yes Lilygran that is exactly how I understood it too. He was arrested for accepting bribes from immigrants who's appeals had previously failed. He is also a cheating b*st*rd who seems to have had a few women on the go at once..... Mind you his wife (the police inspector Chrissie??) did try it on with River..... can't really blame her

Come on now jings you must try and keep up !

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 12-Nov-15 10:18:17

Oh right. Thank you. Will watch it, and previous episode, again, with eyes open!

Lilygran Thu 12-Nov-15 10:03:23

SPOILER! In the last episode it was suggested that he might have been accepting bribes to agree appeals by asylum seekers and immigrants refused leave to stay. But I have to admit, I thought he was seeing ghosts until the week before last!
